  • Atheism IS a religion, sir. It fits all criteria just like all other bonafide religions with criteria requirements to belong in a category of a "religion".

  • you remind me of that guy from big bang theory

  • That was the most fascinating argument i have ever heard on the subject. V. W.. Thank you for sharing....!!

  • Fabulous point of view

  • a dirty water comes out of penis, travells through stages of growth, becomes a man suffers hardships, deseases, hunger, old age, and dies, what a misery. no reward for a good and no nothing for bad person, becouse there is no God , who will judge u. if that is it goodluck fellows.

  • so america witch the majority of them are religious r over weight

  • Your look is soo manly, I'm like jealous..NOT.. :I

  • A-aa! You studied at school - every thing, but did not took classes in religion, religion history, philosophy and e.t.

    lol

  • @MrVistaCruiser Sorry, but there seems to be allot of illiterate Atheists.

According to the most usual definition, an atheist is a person who maintains that there is no god…(rejects eccentric definitions of the word) (The Encyclopedia of Philosophy-1967).

  • @MrVistaCruiser

Actually no. You're incorrect. Atheism is the claim that there is NO god and that you know it. Agnosticism is I don't know. The newer definitions of the terms are just from the popularity of stupid people misusing it.

  • Here's a new way to think about religion: FUCK JEEEEESSUUUUUS!!!!

  • @MrVistaCruiser anti-theism is about getting rid of nonsense that "poisons everything". A lot of danger is done in the name of god. A lot of sickness. If there was ever a time to stand against religion it's now. Islam is the fastest growing of all the fanaticisms. It needs to be nipped at the root (like all the rest of them) or we all run the risk of being owned totalatarianism style. Let reason, truth and evidence be our focus, fine sell out scientists, and get on with the business of truth.

  • I am not sure who you are but I think you have awesome knowledge and you speak really well and soothing. Thanks!

  • its sad when people in general think that God is somehow not as believable as Evolution, i wish people would wake up to reason. The MEDIA has done a great job of cutting off science from God. And people wonder why Atheism is growing? It's because you have been brainwashed into thinking you know what you're talking about! I love you, please Wake up! Wake up to reason!

  • @slyer72 YES! I believe science, God, and math go hand in hand.

  • @slyer72 god and religion are faith-based. science and evolution are evidence-based. faith/belief isn't needed for evolution to be accepted by people

  • wow!!! the key for free!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • being drunk is a fun state of conscientious

  • im a spiritual satanist myself , you don't see as much of us in the truth movement

  • Actually, evolution hasn't been proven, its a theory. Just like the theory that mankind has existed for millions of years in the same way it is today.

God exists, evil exists too, this world is a complex mix of both. But its not something a religion can show anyone. God can only be proven to the individual, by the individual. More often than not, religion pulls people away from the truth. Follow freedom and reason, to the extent that you can, let the two counter balance eachother.

  • @miketonon If the idea of a god keeps you happy thats ok by me. To me the idea of a god is ridiculous and obviously man made. There is over 2000 god's and the chosen god is determined from which country you grew up in. As for evolution - unlike a mathematical proof it is impossible to prove in that sense , that is why it is called a theory. A rock solid theory that hasn't been disproven . It's understandably regarded as fact ..

  • @unemployable777, theres only one God.

And evolution, as people involved in the field have told me, is a theory, not a fact. There is alot of contradicting evidence, but its usually destroyed or misplaced. Theres also evidence of mankind existing in the same way we are today for millions of years.

  • Youve focus a lot on eating healthy and higher consciousness. are you also referring to buddhaism or taoism? because to easterners (im chinese) thats more like a tao, a way of life than a religion.

i dont have a religion nor am i an atheist. just chipping in.

  • Some random things:

`The health message in the Bible and Seventh-day Adventist church is amazing (Bible= quarantine, sterilization, sanitation, hygiene, etc. while contemporaries (Egyps) were doing crazy primitive things (as were more "modern" western societies (embalming dead / delivering babies without washing hands..

Also Bible prophecy is amazing ~ Daniel 2,7,8,9,10.11 Revelation - talking about our times now ~

but.. it seems that no churches teach prophecy much at all..

  • interesting ~ I have indeed never heard something like this (are you an atheist? agnostic?) -

I have talked to Christians that believe in evolution.. it's strange..

I don't have a huge volume of knowledge about science/evolution/origins - but I have heard some interesting things about young earth ..

(earths magnetic field fading, the sun getting smaller from energy loss, radiation/carbon, inconsistency with old earth (huge masses of vegetation, huge animals, huge lifespan)

    must research...

  • @PushkaCom, and the layer of water that was in the atmosphere that blocked out radiation from the sun, among other things. I couldn't possibly know if its true or not, but it could be.

  • @miketonon yeah ~ there could have been many ways our earth was different before ~

in theories thinking about our origin, it seems we sometimes assume nothing has ever changed and is always constant, but in other cases, assume something had to change (like.. with the sun shrinking/ magnetic field diminishing.. if it was constant at the same rate, for 4.5 Billion years, we would explode and be in the sun..)

  • insane isn't a scientific term, it's a legal term.

  • It's very unlikely there is a god and if there is it is definitely not in the same shape or form of what we could ever conceive. If you try and phathom the amount of galaxy's in the observable universe ,it is in the hundreds of billions each with hundreds of billions of suns. We humans are special in the way we can understand to an amazing degree the vastness of the universe..but a god - well it's man made as we are the only species with large enough brains to understand we will die someday.

  • @unemployable777, animals are aware of themselves, humans are aware of something greater. Whether we call it God or something else, its conceded to think that humans created God. If its understood what God is or for that matter, what I'm refering to as God.

  • i dont know how u did it man, you talk for over 7 minutes and you did it with zero bias! i watched this over and over and you are exactly neutral in your approach!

  • I'm intellectually agnostic.. which means I believe the truth is outside myself.. I do however have faith that Christianity is true. to be gnostic means you believe the truth is within your understanding.. Atheism and Religious people alike can be this way.

  • @djbro16, the truth comes from within, without is the distraction.

  • Thanks for the truth, and I'm a Christian.

  • Ask an Atheist why there are problems in the world and he blames religion. Ask a christian and they blame Satan. So if Satan is Lucifer and Freemasonry is a pyramid that leads to devil worship then Atheist Don't understand the Illuminati. Fair?? So if Christians fear Satan and small satanic groups of high ranking Freemasons are the Illuminati then Atheist are wrong to blame Christians for the world problems and ultimately Atheism is the direct oppression and in the end they are the Evil.

  • People are religious for several main reasons. 1) indoctrination as children 2) strong association with people of the same beliefs and 3) limited exposure to education and other people who have completely different thoughts. This is exacerbated by a taboo on discussing (or debating) religious meanings and views. You state that atheists won't change the minds of strong believers and this is true because of reasons above. However, it will show fence sitters the difference.

  • @Photog60 hmm all 3 pts, i must respectfully disagree. indoctrinated, but questioned plenty. isolated very far from ppl of similar beliefs. and i must say im educated. i have debated many openly and respectfully. (so theres no need to debate here hehe, dont have the time ;p)

not in denial and not here to convert you. my family is filled with women treated like queens.

    and here's the kicker.

    i'm not alone. :)

p.s. most of my friends are agnostics and atheists. i'm a muslim. peace.

  • Jesus Christ was critical of religious institutions as well as religious elders.

If you want to learn the truth, you must read the Bible.

Anyone who has not read God's word is deluding themselves.

I guarantee that anyone who reads the gospel of John from start to finish will question their supposed atheistic beliefs. Have the courage to do it.

I have nothing against science. Science is a way of understanding God's creation, but in no way does it disprove the existence of God.

  • Haven't you stood on a mountain top and looked out over God's creation, or held a baby in your arms? How can you say there's no God? The Bible says God is love. Are you saying love doesn't exist? We have God energy in us.

Atheists say that the church is hypocritical and wrong, therefore, that negates religion and by association God. The fact is, all religion has been corrupted by man.

Belief in the existence of God is common to all systems of belief, even science. Newton was a Christian.

  • @Hairylegs25 Love is an idea, just as God is. Just an idea created by man.

  • @californiabcn23, God or whatever else you want to call it wasn't created by man, its conceded to think that. It has been percieved by man.

  • You could have made the same arguments against people who supported Suffrage, the Civil Rights Movement, Gay Liberation, etc. It is very healthy to debate the fundamentally erroneous precepts and tenets of religious beliefs. Sam Harris talks about faith, consciousness, superstition, and more, with a more multi-faceted perspective in videos and his books. Harris has stated that "spiritualism" should not be considered the exclusive domain of a religious experience. I strongly recommend his books.

  • 3:00 And there, everything just began to unfold. Then again, Enya gave it away, too. You should try your best to guest star in Penn & Teller's. Really, I want to see you verbally incinerate those guys.

  • I do respect most of your videos except for this one. See, I think you are contradicting yourself. Most of your other videos are based in facts and evidence, and this videos shows you believe in uncertainly and faith. Plus, it almost seems to be like you are trying to make look science as a religion which is not.

  • @mancjo2, actually, in the way that the typical individual recieves scientific info, science is a religion. Any time there is FAITH required, its religious. For most people, a certain amount of faith is put into the scientific community to be honest and provide accurate info. Many times it is very accurate and has lead to great advances for humankind. While it might be the most reasonable religion yet, its still, in reality, just that.

  • If people became aware of bible prophecie and what going on and has been going on,..they would not fear the state,..but fear the lord jesus christ.they should release that tune by john paul young in 78....,but instead of love,.. it should be deception in the air everywhere i look around,...every site and every sound!

  • @antoniosss100, no need to fear God, God is the one, true, infinite life. Satan should be feared, if anything. But ideally, no one should live in or for fear. Live for life.

  • Jolly good vid,....i wonder what state of consciousness people are in in this anti christ world we live thats falling apart!

  • @antoniosss100 Answer... the FEAR state.

  • Atheism is the lack of belief in a god. Nothing further.

Any argument which says atheism promotes negative action is misleading and manipulative. The same argument can be made to show how religion promotes evil.

  • Of course theres merit to studying ancient wisdom, but to use their diet as an argument for religion seems pretty silly. Their diet being more nutritious doesn't make creationism any less ridiculous.

  • I don't understand why more people don't take the stand of agnosticism. That's somewhere in between theism and atheism and an overall better stance because you're saying you just don't know, which most people don't.

  • @HigherPlanes watch?v=fkEJtQJ5tz4

  • @BeamSurfer Watched. Honestly, there are so many views about reality that it's impossible for all of us to share a common understanding. As for me, I'm simply saying that I don't know about the knowledge of a God, so I have to suspend belief, just like unicorns, elves, etc. If I'm not an agnostic, and according to this guy I am NOT, because according to him, agnostics believe that the knowledge of a god is unknowable. I, on the other hand, need some form of evidence to form an opinion.

  • @HigherPlanes you should watch a video called (Who Created God? Where Did God Come From? Proof of God) It pretty much proves hands down that what scientists have been saying about the origin of the universe is extremely false!

  • @HigherPlanes, seek and you will find.

  • @HigherPlanes I say this all nicely, im not trying to debate or anything, but I just think that if your gonna go for God you should do it full force, because the most important thing to God is faith. He's not a fan of the lukewarm! (:

  • @HigherPlanes i would even go further and say people need a combination of agnosticism, atheism, theism, pseudo-theism, pseudo-atheism, etc. (it goes on to infinite).

when a person achieves complete invisibility in terms of what their philosophy can be labelled as, then when they speak, perhaps the actual context of what they have to specifically say on an issue will be pragmatic enough to help them develop in terms of good vs evil. that's really what matters; those are the only 2 labels imo.

  • @HigherPlanes Atheism is the stance of "not knowing" atheism is NOT the stance that states there is no god, this is a common misconception. Atheism is the stance that we do not have enough evidence to prove the existence of god and therefore we do not believe it, not that we believe there isn't a god. Agnosticism is a cop out that many people choose to avoid ridicule by religious persons by accepting the fact that there may be a god and "you just don't know which to choose".

  • @emoemo247

Actually no. You're incorrect. Atheism is the claim that there is NO god and that you know it. Agnosticism is the claim, I don't know. The newer definitions of the terms are just from the popularity of stupid people misusing it.

  • @emoemo247

Please people, Stop trying to substitute the word "Agnosticism" with "Atheism". Agnosticism does not mean you don't know which god to choose, it means you don't know if such a things exists. So if we already have a word that means "I don't know" than we do not need Atheism to mean two different things. I hate the stupidity of this new generation. You people are too dam stupid to even know what to call yourselfs. I have to tell you what you are..

  • @emoemo247

Wrong, Atheism is the doctrine that God does not exist, that belief in the existence of God is a false belief. The word God here refers to a divine being regarded as the independent creator of the world, a being superlatively powerful, wise and good (Encyclopedia of Religion-1987).

According to the most usual definition, an atheist is a person who maintains that there is no god…(rejects eccentric definitions of the word) (The Encyclopedia of Philosophy-1967).

  • @HigherPlanes Most people do take the stance of agnosticism, which is not at odds with religion, spirituality, or atheism. Agnosticism just states that one can't know for sure one way or the other. It's for that reason that people who identify as agnostic tell others very little other than that they are rational about the question of the existence of god(s). Most religious people and nearly all Atheists are agnostic. Only the most irrational, brainwashed, and stubborn people are Gnostic.

  • @HigherPlanes I'm afraid you're wrong. Atheism/Theism are in response to the claim 'God exists.' If you happen to believe that God exists then you're a Theist but If you lack any belief in a God(s) then you are an Atheist. Agnosticism applies to knowledge (which in an epistemological sense, could be labelled, justified belief, based on evidence) You can be an Agnostic Theist or an Agnostic Atheist. This means that whist I lack the belief in God, I do not claim to know with certainty.

  • @HigherPlanes

Because the burden of proof is on the one claiming the existence of the subject.

  • This is a really great video!

  • I'm really enjoying listening to you speak.

  • i like yours videos causecyou talking from the heart...

  • LOl @ Afroshmuck.... you're way behind man....

  • I disagree that atheists aren't helping anybody else. I would however agree that atheists aren't benefiting science. I don't know why you would insinuate that atheists think that they are by engaging in debates with theists.

  • @airplaneking

    @airplaneking

Well, atheists sometimes wouldn't want to believe that supernatural forces are at work, and they seek the truth to certain issues. Some issues can be solved through science, and this is relatively unbiased, whether you are atheist or theist. So in all honesty, atheists are benefiting science just like their theist counter-parts. Science is guided by logic, and the one who guides it does not need to be bound religiously - just by the truth seeking.

  • interesting. I'm Jewish, and I found that very illuminating.

  • If you accept that consciousness is a result of brain function, then the premise that consciousness is incapable of being explored scientifically is clearly wrong. I also disagree with the premise that religions possess unique and superior knowledge of consciousness on the grounds that no feat, mental or otherwise, performable by a self-proclaimed possessor of "higher consciousness" is not also performable by an unconditioned atheist.

  • yes, there are corrupt scientists and whole institutions. and thats why thoughtful people criticize them and try to warn others.

the ponit is - u should be able to criticize any religion in the same way. if someone doesnt like it, their feelings are hurt - well.. they should deal with it.

maybe my feelings are hurt when i see how they try push religion on kids in schools.

there wouldnt have been many debates if believers kept their faith to themselves instead of trying 2 convert everybody.

  • Again, well done. What I feel you missed, however, was the definition of atheism as it relates to 'personal gods'. One can be an atheist and still look for higher consciousness but not to give over one's will. Make sense??

  • @LynnColorado Cool point! I dig into ancient human history across many cultures. And It seems clear there were/are many deities, perhaps thousands, that clowned around on planet Earth. The Ancient Astronaut theory of human history is apparently valid. I conclude that Religion is little more than corrupted historical records and forgotten evidence and suppressed facts.

Gather the Gods and interrogate them. :)

  • Very well said! I agree!

  • Good video. This conscious thing really goes over my head. Is the hightened consciousnes the thing that makes god exist? Or is god some kind of consciousnes?

  • it's hard not 2 react when they're trying 2 impose their views on the rest of us, effectively promoting their agenda, promoting anti-secularism & anti-democratic values, destroying the reputations of gay people and even trying to impede the teaching of science in school. If our public discourse had not been hijacked by people talking about semitic myths, men made from mud and talking snakes atheists wouldn't be so outspoken. i think it's religious people who have made atheism so viable 2day.

  • well said

nothing turned me away from religion more, than its followers

The endless need to proselytize, as if we hadn't heard the tale many times, and weren't aware of the buildings with the phallic symbols on them.

Something incredibly insulting about a hypocrite trying to indoctrinate. (i.e. hyprocrites tend to profess more strongly-than the genuine)

Lead by example is a maxim every person should hold dear.

    :)

  • Aw snap he mentioned Seventh Day Adventists. Most individuals that don't know about our beliefs classify us as a cult. Then again some that do still call us a cult.

I wonder what his comments would be on memetics and religion. There are often good things that come with belonging to a religious community. I dont really know if atheists have anything similar to a church community.

  • :)

    impressed !

"just believe in your consciousness" , what a spectacular way to compel an atheist to believe in God.

All atheists he has offer you such an incredible advice , why to argue , why not to test the wisdom of his words.

  • Lorax, you lost some credibility with me. Not with this video but in another related one where you show your support for the philosophy esposed in the secret; this idea that thoughts manifest physical reality. Do you actually believe this? That just thinking about X will cause it to be manifest? Your thoughts on conciousness are valid but the Secret is twice removed from any sense of reality. Esther Hicks claims to channel a spirit! You should clarify your stance.

  • Some of this is flat-out wrong, in stark contrast to the rest, which is spot-on. For example, you categorically accuse atheists confronting religious persons as snobs. That's not only stupid and wrong, it's probably more snobbery than atheism could ever hope to grapple with. Confrontational atheism, at worst, is the position that you can do without God and suffer no consequences, of any kind. The opposition to atheism insists that everyone live in abject, prostrate fear of the ridiculous.

  • Furthermore, telling us that we're ignorant of religious persons and their religion is just idiotic. Do you think atheists incapable of testing a rich history of alternate forms of consciousness? The fact that there is no God, and the fact that religious people are brainwashed sociopaths has no bearing on my knowledge, capacities, experience, nor personal development. When atheists confront religious people, we're not attacking their life, we're attacking how they act against us. Duh.

  • If your aim all along was to say: "Hey atheists, I see some of you lambasting the whole cloth of religion, and that must be because you don't see the great things that religion could be if not for the billions of douchebags out there completely ruining it..." then you failed miserably. More importantly... we already know. I forgive you for your presuppositions because you obviously don't know any actual atheists. Nevertheless, your points are eloquently stated and worth hearing.

  • I have no concern for the thoroughly brainwashed, I write or speak to sway the undecided. When I argue with creationists, I know they'll never concede, but hopefully it shows a rational onlooker just how stupid religion is.

  • Very profound, abtruse, and somewhat esoteric!

    Good Job!

  • Thank you!

"There are no Atheist's in Foxholes!"

  • I would like to take this oppurtunity to tell you how retarded you sound when you repeat mindless drivel like what you have written hear. I was in the military for 15 years...I am a life long atheist and I have dug more foxholes than you've seen foxholes through 3 combat tours and I was in every one I dug. don't be a dumbshit and stop saying utter falshoods they make you look like a complete fucktard

  • also following logical conclusions from evolution, laissez faire capitalism based on Social Darwinism ( still much alive) has led to much corruption but there's nothing wrong with it in the evolutionists worldview. Nor is eugenics, good birth, ie euthanasia/sterilization. Or rape. All these are quite consistent with atheism. Rape spreads your genes, eugenics follows survival of the fittest to the most logical progression. Helping the weak, and poor are inconsistent with Atheism.

  • very good video but still major problems. Conscious (with knowledge) you do not believe in according to the atheistic worldview. Atheism is built upon philosophical naturalism, and materialism. Conscious is something immaterial, hence according to your worldview. If you reject God, you also reject conscious knowledge of right and wrong. Also according to evolution, the origins of conscious is a mystery( just-so stories aren't sufficient for a skeptic).

  • the only thig that is missing is that religios pepole are religious because their family wants them to be,great videos by the way im a fan

  • not entirely true. and yet sometime is. there are religious people who are religious after their parents, this proves your theory, but again. Not everytime, there are atheists who has a muslim/christian childrens, I got friends like that. it happens.

  • what?

  • turtleneck!!

  • I would never say such a blasphemy thing about this topic.

Eternity in hell don't sound like to much fun!

And, Please do not think you provoked my "denial"

Blasphemy is the only unforgivable sin!

It's just tragic to see someone so blinded by worldly influences.

  • Haha... Denial!!!

  • Are you serious?

  • sure, he did not really acknowledge the supernaturalness of religion(he points this out himself) but i don't know that anything he said was truly blasphemous

  • The God was never invisible. The promise of Christ, was that he could be seen, if one diligently searched for Him with all their heart mind and sole. The debate of weather God exist is useless. The church was setup by evil Angels to prevent people from finding or seeing God. If you see God they cannot control you anymore and you are truly free. As you will know, that there is no one who can tell you what to do, except God Himself. Everything you think you know about God, is probably wrong.

  • and who tell you this? "the church was setup by evil agels" wait did you make this up ?

  • God told me.

  • god told you, yeah ok and santa claus told me you are a bumbass

  • @69elpresidente lol x}

  • Consciousness: reflecting on reflections.

    Consciousness: the Divine whiteboard

Consciousness: my mural of thoughts where angels or demons draw pictures

Consciousness: man's word for the ultimate mystery

  • religion sucks and Jesus said so!!

  • They knew the world wasn't flat thousands of years before columbus. But that's OK, I was taught the same misinformation in school.

I think it was some sticks, their shadows, and some measurements that helped confirm it. Another hint was the moon when the earths shadow is on it. Looks sphericle to me. Doesn't prove it, but it's a good clue. Guess my grade school teachers never read about Eratosthenes, or really looked at the moon.

  • Science doesn't claim to know what would happen to Columbus. Science is a process, not a dogmatic belief system. It is a search for truth, not a self proclamation of it. Science is often about disproving things to get closer to the truth.

You claim consciousness doesn't lend itself to scientific analysis. Just because it hasn't YET, doesn't mean it never will.

Science keeps trimming away religion's supposedly exclusive domains, and religion keeps clinging to the paltry remains.

  • I really liked your video. I feel that there is nothing at all bad in this world whether it is religion or science. There has been good in both of them. I also believe in the idea that diet can influence nervous system whic can eventually have some affect on consciousness. Y'our talk is very good :)

  • I think the mystics and contemplatives demonstrate that it's possible to induce altered states of consciousness through focusing the mind, posture, and breathing. As an atheist I've had similar experiences. I also feel elation when gazing at the stars or watching the leaves fall from the trees in autumn. I feel grateful to be alive. I part company with theists because it is not necessary to believe claims on insufficient evidence to feel good or find meaning.

  • Jesus did not come into the world to condemn it but to save it.......save it from the power of sin....from the deceptive snares of satan. Jesus said in John 10:10 The thief, (satan) comes Only to kill, steal and distroy but I ( Jesus) has come to give life and life more abundant to the full and overflowing.......God often gets blamed for things that satan is behind......God says if we lack wisdom all we need to do is ask and He will give it to us liberally.....God is good, seek Him today.

  • I have a version of bible that is different from the popular ones. This version has been available to very limited people so far as it didn't align with the older miracle based version of bible. you should check it out as I think your version is completly wrong, you'll find it right after you read the one that I have.

  • It's funny that you bring up conciousness as a defence of religion. That's one of the very damaging things that religion does to impact us. It creates very narrow minded people, since they believe they already have solutions to the answers, based on blind beliefs, so their no longer willing to ask the questions. Religion just takes the sober man, and enlightens him by telling him what he wants. Should you believe something for that reason? No, you absolutely shouldnt. BelieveOnYourOpinions/Logic

  • I believe he's referring to certain practices in religion, as opposed to taking the dogma of a religion as a accurate historical record. certain practices in religion help people, just take whats good, moral standards and humanistic stuff like feed the poor in a religion and discard the bad, like the fanatical and discriminating issues and other things things.

I don't think he's "defending" religion, rather, pointing out it's potential uses. people definitely need an open mind, like you said.

  • Comment removed

  • another good vid.

  • Why not just forget BELIEFS. Belief, by its very meaning is a big question mark. It means there's no meaningful proof. Atheism is a religion because it is a belief. PERSONAL EXPERIENTIAL KNOWLEDGE is different. Self-Realization is just that. It is an experience BEYOND BELIEF. And unfortunately, it is also beyond what words can explain. Basically it is God-Realization. Call God Consciousness or whatever. It is meeting your source face-to face and it is beyond rebuff...until you tell somebody! HA!

  • Don't fool yourself, Jesus is the answer but you first must repent of your sins.

  • 7:08--impatience is not a virtue.

    Con

  • *consciousness is not quantifiable by science /yet/

    sorry, no edit feature :\

  • I've never heard anyone express these ideas in such an eloquent, non-threatening manner.

    Thank you Lorax.

  • Abidagus- Lorax is, indeed, the MAN. David Icke also has an answer to all this: Do whatever you want as long as it doesn't impinge on the rights of others. Pretty simple and as spiritual an approach as it gets. Each one of us is a unique expression of the Creator so,..just do what you want...and you will be doing "God's Will".

  • cant believe on what people say as well...

  • Great video. Though I would ask:

Haven't literature, the visual arts, music, philosophy, architecture, narcotics, martial arts, exercise and poetry all put in as much time into affecting a human's state of consciousness, with at least as much effect?

Not to mention they've caused vastly less war, persecution and general bad times for mankind.

Also, interesting to note but these are the main fields that governments often supress or control. (along with religion).

  • First, I think you misunderstand the current atheist movement. 'Militant' atheists are angry because of the influence that theists have in directly interfering with other people's lives. If theists would keep their beliefs to themselves, atheists would slow their push-back.

With regard to consciousness, you seem to view all states as equally valid. This is not true. Some states lead to peace, others hate and violence. By understanding how it works, we can minimize the harmful ones.

  • the thing is knowone will ever know if theres a god or if theres heaven or hell until we die i suppose, as knowone has come back to tell the tail but i think a person becomes more religious if something has happened in their life or you've seen things happen to other people for example supernatural things black magic poverty or when your old and when it kicks in that its nearly time for death thats when people think of a god.

  • Sunside-"Hell" is the ego-identified state, which most people are in. They feel separate from everything. That causes one to operate in a "Fear-Modality". "Heaven" is the opposite. Through "grace" (dumb luck or maybe tons of meditating) one may experience the dissolving of the ego and the illusory separation disappears. From that point on, life will never be the same for the experiencer. You will have met your maker and that is beyond what words can explain. Try Byron Katie for a start!

  • Though I am not an atheist and have always had a strong connection to god since I was small. I can understand atheism or speculating that only what you see is what is, if you have never experienced anything else. My problem is with militant Atheists who think religion and theists are always dangerous and stupid. I don't get this silliness. What does someone care if another person is happy in believing something. Also their certainty seems silly to me especially since there's no proof either way

  • Down with dogmatic bigotry and self righteousness of religion and science.

  • Argumentation, the concept of "fault", shame, blame and regret are all useful in keeping people enslaved, stupid and unaware. Consciousness is expanded by reading, looking, listening, finding out for yourself what it true and false via study and experimentation. That said, I know God exists but he or she (I don't think the gender concept applies really) is a bit more the size of infinity than most people are taught or think. Experience is evidence, looking can gain experience for the unafraid.

  • Remember that religion has a stronger way to apply good ethics to a lifestyle, for example, it would severely cut down prostitution/promiscuity and thus decreasing AIDS, we could also invent laws as Atheists to do the same but if someone truly believes in something (god) they will be more inclined to follow these (god's) rules. Of course you can get Atheists to truly believe (or worship) an entity as well using science... Microchip their right hand and have them as slaves.

  • i'm 100% sure that god is real because it says so in the bible, the book god himself says he wrote! who are you going to believe, god himself or some scientific know alls that probably don't even believe in god!

  • Nice try, NothingEqualsNothing. If you have read the bible in it's entirety; why did you ask me for the verses? Someone who has actually read the bible, would not have to ask? So my friend you do error. Besides, you are trying to read the bible like a math problem, it is literature and should be read as such. Maybe Google or Wikipedia can help you, since your to lazy to find it yourself. Good day.

  • You are wrong, NothingEqualsNothing. Unfortunately for you, I do not carry water for anyone; read it for yourself. I suppose I could give you the verses, but firsthand knowledge is always the best. That is why guys like you cannot tell me what the bible says or does not say; I have read it. Take care.

  • The idea that any one of our religions represents the infallible word of the One True God requires an encyclopedic ignorance of history, mythology, and art even to be entertained—as the beliefs, rituals,

and iconography of each of our religions attest to centuries of crosspollination

among them. Whatever their imagined source, the doctrines of modern religions are no more tenable than those which, for lack of adherents, were cast upon the scrap heap of mythology millennia ago.

  • Ah...OK. NothingEqualsNothing, you must have one of "those" bibles that have a lot of pages missing. I recommend buying another, but do what you like. Good luck.

  • NothingEquals Nothing,

  • Atheist say there is no god. I know I used to be one. Jesus claimed to be the Son of God, and demonstrated his authority by performing miracles(acts of God). What kind of consensus are you looking for?

  • Maybe atheist should argue with the supreme court. Google search Court rules atheism a religion. OOPS!

  • atheism & religion:

Is Jesus who He said He is?

  • there must be conspiracy. no matter how much i shorten my response, i am supposedly above the limit

  • Everyone has a religion. Religion is a theory about the origin of man.

  • Lorax, you nailed it as far as I'm concerned. I'm pretty much the type that hey belive whatever nonsense you want, that's your God Given right. However do not try to impune your nonsense or religion into science. Keep up the good work Lorax.

  • Atheists can't meditate? They can't clean up their diets? Other than these ( which I believe are assumptions you're making in this vid ). Do I enjoy antagonizing Christians? Yes. On this you hit the mark. As for 'snobbery'...well, is it snobbery to dislike something that is grossly harmfull to the world? I do believe I'm conscious. I've been experimenting with raising my consciousness for several years. I don't knock tibetian monks ( who are famous for consciousness raising ).

  • Absolutely right about "radicalising" though. This applies to other areas of confrontation aswell (e.g. dealing with a feminist). If the person is in deep denial and you point out some obvious, observable truths to them, they will get even more radical and quite angry.

  • "Belief in God is inversely proportional to belief in Gaia [Mother Earth Communism]"

More often than not, this is true and that's why I don't have much time for atheists. All their intellectualising is usually just a rough cover-up for their sympathy for Communism and Paganism.

  • If arguing with religious people "radicalizes" them, what does saying religious people are in denial do to them?

I don't think the real problem is in whether your method of dissing religious people is more "radicalizing" than someone else's dissing of them. I think the real problem is that the standard school curriculum does not teach people how to process disagreement. The tragedy is that ancient Greek philosophers figured out a pretty good method, which hardly anyone masters today.

  • WHy did you label atheism as the "truth?" Atheism has many problems with the laws of thermodynamics, and even more cohesion problems. Vestigial organs are the result of ignorance to anatomy. The absence of evidence for the big bang theory. Geologic erosion would be extremely severe if the earth was older than 12,000 years.

  • I didn't mean to imply that atheism is the "truth" any more than religion is the truth. I think most atheists disagree on various things just as religious people do (although in fairness, the atheists don't seem to kill each other as often). Yes, in my opinion, evolution is a proven fact just like a round earth, and I don't bother to debate it (plenty enjoy this debate elsewhere). However, I don't think belief in evolution precludes belief in any of the supposedly core tenants of religion.

  • Interesting you said "round earth." It the Bible that said that before any scientists discovered that. It's the reason Columbus wasn't afraid of falling off the flat earth, as scientists claimed as fact, Columbus's faith in the scientific facts of the Bible proved true. In our day in age, the Bible is the most scientifically correct book ever.

  • please dont mix religion and science.

  • Please never butt-in a comment that's 1 month old. You look ridiculous. I stated a fact, if you have a problem with that then I don't want to anything else about what you say, do, see, feel, think...

  • i have a conflicting opinion which i am able to freely express without your prior authorisation. It does not matter how old a comment is, if you post it online its there for all to see and reply to as they deem fit.I have a problem with your statement 'the bible is the most scientifically coorect book ever' i dont agree with this statement, perhaps you could come some passages from the bible that back up your statement.Anyway i dont wish to get into a heated debate over this.

  • regardless of the age of the comment it has been posted and may be replied to at any time without your prior authorisation (thats the nature of posting comments) I dont agree with the statement 'the bible is the most scientifically correct book ever' but then again i guess your in denial.perhaps you could quote us a few examples of the scientifically correct statements you find in the bible to add some weight to your argument..?

  • the bible falls apart in the first chapter. look out 'ChucksterOLove's channel or take a look at "The Naked Truth" series of vids (for your lazy self - if you can manage it - could be difficult or uncomfortable for people who actually believe in the bible...or for people who think there's time limitations for posting comments on the internet ;o)

I read the bible too btw so don't bother replying til you've caught up

    peace

  • No you are wrong. Read it again.

  • lol...ok man...whatever you say.

    peace be with you

  • How do you "disprove" a fictional book?

  • I bet your a fan of Marx(atheist). Communism (Godless) has been around for a realitively short time.

In that short time, how many people have been "killed" by the Stalin types? Good thing your in this country (with a very religous history) vs. the former Soviet Union.

I would wager you wouldn't have such "freedom of expression" like you do now.

    God Bless you.

  • your videos are brilliant. i have only just found you, but i am slowly making my way through them.

  • YEP eat magic mushrooms to experience your consciousness.

  • We should respect NO religion. ALL religion should be abolished, because GOD and Religion are NOT sinonimous. This is a common misunderstanding. Religion is a replacement of your understanding of GOD. GOD is something we do not YET comprehend, therefore it had to be personified for the ignorant masses to relate to it.

  • lol

good explanation. i don't have a prob with it since im an Omnitheist. basically whatever you believe i also believe, as long as you don't try to deny me my rights and existance

the comments above are hillarious. you explain this quite clearly.

read some Deepak Chopra, if you haven't already.

  • MUSE : to think or say reflectively.

A-MUSE : to divert the attention of so as to deceive.

THIEST : belief in the existence of one God.

A-THIEST : one who believes that there is no deity.

  • *Shoving truth in the face of someone who is in denial radicalizes people.*

You really taught me something and I love your presentation.

  • Thanks Proteanview, I like your videos as well.

  • Wow you people are all bitching because he's not incredibly stubborn like the lot of you (and he's a lot less biased than the majority of people on YT.) Isn't he thinking for himself? Just because he thinks a little different than you it doesn't give you any right to call him stuck up.
