I would always pick #25 in my screen names or anything in general because to me #25 represents what McCarty stood for. Hard work. Not being a natural and relying on natural talent but working for it. For me im not talking hockey but life in general. McCarty once compared hockey to the army. "We cant all be 5 star generals and snipers, someone has to be the grunt and do the dirty work". Thats not just for hockey but for anything.

I saw him at a restaurant with Hull. I was about 10 or 11 and I asked them for an autograph. Hull signed it all pissed off and McCarty talked to me about the game the day before. When they were leaving, he came by my table and said "see you later kid". It really made my day

This just proves that detroit know how to pick players.. they just know that if u create a good loyalty vibe and sign the right players everything is possible.. just look at McCarty and Kocur both player demoted to low standard leagues and made a strong comebacks to cup winning teams.. just watch the wings will win again
