so obviously not having her number rattled Hollie, in hindsight what they should have done was take the deduction instead of risking a fall. Does anyone know what would have been the greater deduction, not wearing her number or the fall?
@tmwalkerm I've read that not wearing her number is a 0.2 deduction while a fall was 0.5. I believe what happened was so wrong because she could get injured.
@xrictinagymnastics thanks, I was always curious about what the worse between the two evils would be. Regardless, it definitely rattled her, not sure if the fall would have happened anyway. Too bad, she was usually stunning on bars.
@tmwalkerm Yes, she was my favourite in this team, she was the main reason I was happy USA got gold, it would be so hard for her if they didn't. And I was so happy when she won bars finals. She totally deserved it
@xrictinagymnastics me too, but she was such an emotional athlete, any little mistake and she seemed to fall apart. But when she was "on" no one had better lines or flexibility.
@tmwalkerm True, but I was impressed that right after all this mess on UB she threw a very solid beam routine. It's a pitty she wasn't at the Olympics, she could have offered some of the grace and style that the 2004 USA team was missing
@tmwalkerm Yes, she totally deserved to be there. The only thing that stops me from loving USA gymnastics is their lack of artistry. But til now there was always someone who brought some style (Terin in 2003, Mohini in 2004, Nastia till 2008, Mattie in 2010, Sabrina Vega in 2011) but I'm afraid there will be noone artistc in 2012.
@xrictinagymnastics yeah, there aren't any girls who can really dance, especially Bross, I can't stand her style. McKayla has a nice style but she has a lot of people competing for the spot that she'd fill, as far as vault goes. I definitely wouldn't want to be on the selection committee this year, some really tough choices.
@tmwalkerm McKayla's choreography doesn't really excite me but yes she has an enjoyble and well choreographed routine. I liked Jordyn's 2011 choreography but it's not the kind of routine that never gets old. Sabrina Vega is a beautiful dancer, I hope she could make it. But yes, lack of artistry really is the only weakness of team USA this year, so many great gymnasts who all deserve to go to the Olympics, Douglas is my favourite
@xrictinagymnastics I really like Gabbie too, she was amazing in American Cup last weekend, can't believe how much she improved from last year. Jordyn's my favorite, the kid has come a long way since she first came on the scene. The Caquatto sisters have nice choreography too, but crack under the pressure.
@tmwalkerm I like hte Caquatto sisters, they're both great gymnasts but I don't think they make it. Same about Bridget Sloan, who is also one of my favorites. I'm not a big fan of Jordyn but I do like and respect her a lot. She's a great gymnast and also seems to be a very nice person. I was happy for her in 2011 worlds. But I really am in love with Gabby. I also like Kyla Ross.
@xrictinagymnastics yeah Kyla's good too, hopefully she gets some international experience this season. If Aly Raisman could just get better at bars she'd be a serious threat for the all around. I can't see Bridget making the team again, or Sacramone either (which sucks because I love Alicia), there's just too many younger girls who can do the skills and have already proved it at worlds. Johnson's just too little too late, same as Nastia.
@tmwalkerm I love Alicia too and her injury was so devastating, she had made an impressive comeback and if she didn't get injured she'd have much more chances to make this team. Aly has great difficulty in 3 events and I believe it makes her almost a lock for the team but she's just not meant for swinging. I really respect and admire her for insisting on being an all arounder but I think that both Ross and Douglas are more "all around gymnasts" than she is

@xrictinagymnastics yup I agree. I'm from Canada and am sooo excited that our women's team qualified for the games, can't wait to see how they do.

@tmwalkerm Yes Canada has some great gymnasts this year, I believe we'll see them in TF.
My favorite is Victoria Moors, I hope she medals on floor
