you are runnin the pickup way to fast man your loosin half the seed before it hits the feeder chain the faster the pick up goes the more pods your shelling. we slow our pickup right down and run the fan around 850 to 900 just enough to blow the chaff away from the sives youl find the yeild increeses dramaticly
Oh and i forgot to add that Fuelfarmer has a point about the moisture underneath. I jamed up the feederhouse a few times in wet spots. It takes about 30 painful minuets to unblock it.
We have New Holland CX860 at our place and we are harvesting canola now in Victoria, Australia and i'm getting speeds between 8-10 km/h on a crop with a yeild of about 2t to the hectare witch is alright. Our oil is 48% witch is 2-3% over average. The only problem is there is to much barley in it so we have to clean it witch is a pain. other that that the NH is a great combine.
I'd hope a 96 would go faster. 25ft. of 60b. canola is a little much for a 95. Add windrow bunches that are wet underneath= worst cylinder slug I've ever dealt with in this field.
The canola is a winter verity called Virginia that was developed at Virginia State U.
We plant around 5 lbs per acre and we did get plenty of rain on that crop. Fertilizer was poultry litter. One ton in the fall and one ton in the spring. Total of 120 lbs of N.
JJ8660, what kind of yield do you get with canola? This is 60 bu. yield with some wads that were wet underneath and required caution. Also I'd hope a newer, bigger combine could go faster. The 9500 meets our needs just fine for the acres we do.

@arcticdvx400
The pick up is not running much faster than the crop is moving across the head. Watch at the end of a row. I think the video makes it look fast.

Is there not a way you can speed up the pick up in the front?.
classharvester 1 year ago
@classharvester
It could be done I am sure, but it is running fast enough for our combine. The pick up is not slowing us down.

@fuelfarmer Looked like the pick-up was slowing you guys down. Still a cool video.

Hi I Does canola needs lots of water to grow and get a good yield?
Thanks.
Jinete28 2 years ago
Don't know for sure, but I think canola will grow without a lot of water. To get good yields it does need water.
fuelfarmer 2 years ago
pick up the speed with the combine, it will take 10 years to combine that way
matts987654 3 years ago
We need smaller windrows or a bigger combine.
