Daft Punk didn't invent Electro. At best, they "invented" something one might call Filtered French House. Electro has its roots in the early electronic experimentalism of the early 80's, and was already well established as a genre through the 90's.
Daft Punk didn't release their first album until 1997, well after the electro movement was underway...
