Was surprised I never knew this guy. Saw him a little more portly in a later performance. Really impressed. Another great who never has received the recognition that he deserves.
this is a wonderful rendition of roy eldrige famous solo --- an amazing heritage from a star musician to the next generation. aplause to warren for remembering roy.
The looks on the musicians' faces says it all. What????? I can never figure out why Warren had to prove he was a bopper. The best white player since Berigan. When he played what he was hearing, not what he thought he should be playing to sound up-to-date.
For Vache fans, if you don't know his album MY SHINING HOUR, please consider doing so. His brother plays on it as well and they swing mightily and with great subtlety on a range of perennial, immortal and sempiternal standards
Warren sounds great. A real pleasure to listen to. How about the bass player? He was laying it down, making it happen. A treat indeed. If you know who he is, please give him some credit. Thanks for the post.
