@rockongoodpeople - before I say anything, I just gotta say that all considered, this is the best free guitar instruction online. However, I gotta say that this bit sounds better with the second note being a G# (major sounding on the E string) and C# on the A string - on records the guitar player often does a half note bend on the G# - C# for a funky feel. The minor or pentatonic mood on the second note just don't feel right. Love the hair.

Yer right ... second note in the sequence oughtta' be on the fourth fret (G#), not the third fret (G). "Course there are a million variations, and his is as valid as any, but to me it sounds better using the fourth fret.

What's with the G natural? - sounds terrible. (Maybe 1% of rockabilly boogies have this minor sound). Wouldn't the riff would sound better (and easier for beginners to hear) if the first note were G#(Ab)? (i.e. skip that G at the third fret, and start lick at 4th fret of 6th string.)

He's playing the riff wrong. The scale is a derivative of the major scale and the sequence of notes should go (in the key of E) E G# B C# D and then walk down in the reverse order. He's going E and then G on the second note which by definition is either a minor or pentatonic scale depending on what note is next played in the sequence. So don't take too much stock in his "lessons" because he is an amateur at best.
