  • Hey can i ask guys as someone who has never played tabletop, do you genrally have a similar team in terms of alingment or do you mix or is it really sky's the limit. For example if i had a friend who wanted to be a stubborn lawful good paladin, and i was a sly neutrual/chaotic evil Blackguard how would that shit roll down?

  • @ItIsTheInvisibleMan I plan on doing a video on alignments very soon, but the gist is: mixed alignments only really work with mature players. Don't try it if you aren't experienced.

  • @DawnforgedCast Yeah im interested in this tabletop from the BG saga, i can imagine that the alingment clash would end in fighting between each characters... but im so intrigued, what if an evil charachter decideds to align with the enemy *drools and gorms out looking into the distance*.

  • @ItIsTheInvisibleMan Mixed alignments can make for some amazing roleplaying and game twists, but, as I said, it takes a certain level of maturity to handle that at a table, and the capacity to separate what happens in game from your friendship without.

  • I am really jealous of you guys. I am in my 30’s and have always wanted to play D&D but have never been able to. Not sure how to find a group. Looks like fun though!

  • @TheApeGas Something will be out soon which will hopefully help with the group finding

  • 4 hours god. my last session went from 2pm till midnight

  • 17:20-17: 22 LMAO That was golden. :D

  • FUN game!

  • looks like one

  • Too late, it's on the Tubes. Nice vid hope there's moar

  • Oh my...this will result in me going on planning my campaign instead of cramming for the exams next week... Anyway, I really enjoyed to watch this. Can't wait for the exams to be over and the dice to return. I'll probably link this to my players, who are all total newbies to Pen and Paper to get them in the mood (and by that take care I am not the only one NOT studying. Hehe. )

  • @mioafox Exams > Gaming. As someone who had to redo a couple of college semesters let me assure you of this. :) I'm glad you like it though, we have a good time.

  • Man, I started playing a little before I went to 6th grade in middle school , I love the game, I've DM'd and I've played, but now I don't have a regular group. It makes me sad that I don't have anyone to play with but I'm glad I can still experience it with you guys. Thanks for putting this stuff up!

  • @TheLordDAE We get a lot of comments from people who are without a gaming group. A video is in the works on ways to make that gaming group happen again.

  • No Cheetohs?! For shame! But it was a good video so I'll let it slide--this time =) I've just found you channel and I'm really enjoying your vids. Thanks.

  • @pridday88 No Mountain Dew either. We're sophisticated gamers. We have steak in later episodes. :)

  • I agree some rolls need to be hidden, but not everyone

  • With the exception of hide checks and certain other things. Stuff that is supposed to randomly be decided by who the dichooses I always let my players see for themselves, as do my dms

  • That. Was the most AMAZING "How I Started Playing" story EVER. It was a great mental image.

    Also, LOLOLOLOL Wereturtles.

That was great. I'm going to start running games with my kids. It's going to be awesome.

  • awesomeness! thanks for the invite to the table! XD

  • It's kind of shady how the DM hides all his rolls. I feel like he's just doing what he wants.

  • @TheHurleySpecial I feel some rolls need to be kept from the players. Do you play with all DM rolls out in the open?

  • @DawnforgedCast I agree with the DM. Some rolls don't need to be open to the players.

  • WOOT! Fem users rule! ps do you guys think pathfinders is harder or funner than D&D? and whats your opinion on me playing (sorta experienced) as a little girl with fire magic and a gaurdian giant bear name Mr. Tibbers?

  • @MrWulffy I'm planning on the next campaign to be pathfinder, so we'll see when that start whether it is harder or easier. Annie is a good choice for some campaigns but not usually for the ones I run. Too silly. :P

  • @DawnforgedCast but im my team's DM and it just is so funny to scream TIBBERS and let him own pathetic goblins

  • @DawnforgedCast but letting my teddy bear slaughter everyone is just so fun

  • Damn right women play! Woot! ;D

  • @deadlyyellowrose They most certainly do!

  • awesomeness

  • still seems so complex to me....the story element i get....its the rules, dice rolls (there was a shit load of dice on that table) and sheets that all confuse me. As much as i would like ta try get into this my lack of smarts and free time prevent me >.<

  • @PeteShamrock101 Would a basic rules tutorial help?

  • @DawnforgedCast Only if it was a basic rules tutorials for moneys -_- ....yes im that dumb and clueless about this :(

  • @PeteShamrock101 Do you have a copy of the PHB?

  • @DawnforgedCast idk what that is :(

  • @PeteShamrock101 a PHB is the Players HandBook (PHB) :) I don't know what you and DawnforgedCast were discussing but hope this helps :)

  • @MrJamespj aw i see ty for explaning to me ^_^

  • what edition is this? if it was said i completely missed it

  • @TheDude886 3.5

  • @DawnforgedCast does it get better each edition???

  • @gyroknot Not necessarily. It has come down to personal preference mostly.

  • Why are you guys all picking on Joshueena? lol he looks like a d-bag but still.

  • @VariousEnd One cannot be a d-bag without being douched on every now and again.

  • To whoever is holding the camera: Dude, you got an awesome voice while playing your character lol.

  • @ab11792 Thanks! Its kind of a hobby of mine to have awesome voices. :)

  • i want to play now AAAAAAA, but we do on sunday ARRRGH AND I DM :O

  • @omaman92 Sounds like you are playing!

  • "You don't wanna FUCK with a were-elephant!!"

  • Crown Royal die bag......Nice, I thought I was the only one.

I still have my old Crown die bag too, only difference now is that it's half-full of condoms, & my dice are no where to be found.....God I really need to get a group together again -.-

  • @CaptainDaccat Condoms and dice go together like....well they don't go together. How bizzare!

  • @DawnforgedCast Haha yep, like I said, I gotta use them all up because lord knows I wont be getting any after I fill the bag with dice, & start playing D&D again, but I havent played since 2005 so "the bug" is putting D&D at a higher priority. lol

  • That was excellent. Nice interspersing with explanations. Looks like a good group. Thanks for posting this. Cheers.

  • I'm really not a fan of the idea D&D is for "nerds," but otherwise nice vid. It's good to see other D&D channels on youtube.

  • @woodwwad What is for nerds if not D&D? People are complex and have a diverse array of interests and very few can fit into one stereotype perfectly but I think nerd and Dungeons and Dragons go together pretty well, with no insult to anyone involved. :)

  • @DawnforgedCast I'd disagree, and wouldn't care but this stereo type keeps a lot of people from trying the game, so I think it is a bad look for us.

  • @woodwwad I say something is nerdy with pride but I take your point. I've found simply sitting people down and showing them the game usually breaks their preconceptions. What do you do?

  • @DawnforgedCast Well, you are certainly doing the right thing there, if you want to know what I do, check out my vid, Is Gaming Geeky, it would be a little too long to go through in a post, since it is a gaming channel, it might be of interest to you.

  • I laughed my ass off when my friend heard "you don't fuck with a wereElephant" and sprayed his laptop with Pepsi.

  • What rules are you guys playing with?

  • @foobaplayer69 3.5 with a dash of homebrew.

  • Just started a new campaign with a few of my buddies. Haven't played since 2007, but we are really looking forward to it.

  • This looks so much fun; it's a shame I don't know of any D&D players around where I live to play with yet. Here's to hoping that I'll meet some when I go to university :P

  • @Helagon I wish you the great enjoyment of college gaming!

  • I am quite curious wether its a worthwhile investment of time and money, I know some people role play and get really into it but I think I would be totally down with that. Is there such a thing as a casual DnD players?

But anyway what stuff do I need to get started and what is the best way of finding a group to play with?

  • @KoolJoshBoy There are such a thing as casual DnD players. Some groups meet only once a month. 4 hours a month of something? I'd consider that very casual. For the time and enjoyment you get out of it it is very cheap compared to other hobbies. If you intend on running your own game you'll need 3 books: the Players Handbook, Dungeon Masters Guide and Monster Manual. These can be found anywhere books are sold.

  • @KoolJoshBoy If you just want to play a character having your own Players Handbook is helpful but not required if someone else in your group has one. You'll want to get your own set of dice though. Online or at a game hobby store. As for getting people to play there are those gaming shops, forums online which can help people in certain areas connect, and your school. When I switched high schools I plugged into a group there when I heard some girls behind me talking about elves...

  • @KoolJoshBoy You can introduce it to your group of friends, post something around a school trying to garner interest, or just go up to one of the people wearing a nerdy looking shirt or goth clothes and ask. Thats how I got one of my long running groups started. :)

  • I'm confused...the DM has been playing for 13 years and he's almost 25. But he hadn't played until his manager introduced him to it when he was 15. Is the math just off or was he actually working at a deli when he was 11?

  • @KumoriS84 You have a keen mathematics mind. I'll make sure to better fact check next time. :)

  • @DawnforgedCast Math skills tend to improve when playing D&D IMHO. What with all the quick calculationsfor that have to be done on the spot :D

  • Wow, glad I don't play with you guys. We have never ridiculed anyone for playing a different gender. I mean, you may as well laugh at that guy playing a dwarf because he's not actually a dwarf.

Also, the TMNT weren't were-creatures. Just saying.

  • @Thakowsaizmu I don't know that we were ridiculing him for playing a different gender so much as HOW he was playing that different gender. As DM I play many female NPCs and I try to make them genuine, well rounded characters. Our gamer here was just being ridiculous, on purpose. But your point is made. I hadn't considered that it might be construed as ridicule.

  • I love this game And I like your vid's :)

  • I subbed you :)

  • Good job keeping us up to date on what's going on as an introduction to what the game is. This is a really good look into what it's like to play D&D... That is, of course, except for playing with actual girls.

  • @Bondanalloy Yeah, we lucked out. :)

  • is there going to be part 2

  • @siperspree99 There will be. I'll be recording our next session in a few days and will hopefully have it up next week.
