Reading the bible is the best way to become an atheist. That's what turned me to disbelief. I used to be a christian, but I decided to devote myself & learn all I could about the "word" of god. I vowed to read a chapter & pray for god's wisdom everyday. Suffice it to say, after years of never feeling god's presence & suppressing the persistent tendency of scratching my head after my daily reading thinking, "that can't be right," I soon realized the ridiculousness of it all & became an atheist.
I can't wait until the rapture. Life without fundies will be so much better.
Why would a just God send me to Hell for doubting a book that is so obviously full of contradictions? The Bible is probably easier to swallow literally than figuratively.

Even if at one point the bible was the word of god, it sure isn't now. It's been rewritten, translated and edited so many times, that it has become the word of man. Phrases and words are lost in translation, and as you said there are too many contradictions. Myself, I believe in a god. I just feel like there is a higher being, but I do not follow and can not follow any religion that can justify murder, slavery or burning of knowledge because it may disprove what people want you to believe.

Truthfully, people don't NEED a reason, or EVIDENCE to NOT believe in a god. In normal life, we don't look for REASONS opposing the existence of something, until we see some decent reason TO believe in that something.

Proof comes in different forms from evidence, data, and information all around us. Reasonings, and logic help us consider, understand, and appreciate what our senses tell us. I am an atheist because I could not ignore that the laws of nature could not be broken, and how physics work whenever I wanted to really make myself believe "god did it". I did not want to die or miss out on "heaven", and so these fears drove my conflicted blind faith. We can discuss the lack of evidences 4 Jesus/god later.

Yea, you have it right. That is good evidence against religion. The question of whether a god exists or not is still up in the air however. The reason is that this question is impossible to prove or disprove. However, it is VERY easy to prove how any religion is not the answer to the ultimate question.
You have to have more faith as an athiest...to believe that the whole universe and everything around us (The Cosmos) was created by nothing and from nothing. I have Faith in A creator/designer ie. God creating the universe. But I don't have the amount of faith to believe that the universe just came into existence by nothing and from nothing. No, we don't. We don't know the details regarding the origin of the universe, but even the limited theories we have are the best explanation of the evidence available right now. It takes faith to assume God, it takes observation and mathematics and logic to try and identify the actual cause, and any theory built from that - even if incorrect - does not require FAITH to adopt as the best explanation.

There is a category mistake with that question. That is like asking what the color blue smells like...blue doesn't have a smell. Just like God wasn't created. God has always existed. Also God is not a thing. If God is outside of time space and matter then God id not subject to these limitations. God is not part of our natural world. If God is outside of time space and matter then it renders any question as to where he came from or what he was doing before he created the universe.

Honestly, i wish i knew the answer to that question. But it is kind of hard to say, because the Bible says, that the only way you can make it into heaven is if you accept Jesus christ as your Lord and saviour. Only God knows who will make it into heaven, i really have no clue, i will do more studying on that and let you know, but when you pray for other people it helps them to learn from their mistakes. You just have to do it out of LOVE.

Reading the bible is the best way to become an atheist. That's what turned me to disbelief. I used to be a christian, but I decided to devote myself & learn all I could about the "word" of god. I vowed to read a chapter & pray for god's wisdom everyday. Suffice it to say, after years of never feeling god's presence & suppressing the persistent tendency of scratching my head after my daily reading thinking, "that can't be right," I soon realized the ridiculousness of it all & became an atheist.

Even if at one point the bible was the word of god, it sure isn't now. It's been rewritten, translated and edited so many times, that it has become the word of man. Phrases and words are lost in translation, and as you said there are too many contradictions. Myself, I believe in a god. I just feel like there is a higher being, but I do not follow and can not follow any religion that can justify murder, slavery or burning of knowledge because it may disprove what people want you to believe.

Truthfully, people don't NEED a reason, or EVIDENCE to NOT believe in a god. In normal life, we don't look for REASONS opposing the existence of something, until we see some decent reason TO believe in that something.
The topic and the way we handle these thoughts are VERY STRANGE. You see, theres virtually NO other topic where we DEBATE the existence of the topic. Perhaps ghosts, but no one bases their life on ghosts, or finds comfort in ghosts, or says you are going to hell because of ghosts.

Proof comes in different forms from evidence, data, and information all around us. Reasonings, and logic help us consider, understand, and appreciate what our senses tell us. I am an atheist because I could not ignore that the laws of nature could not be broken, and how physics work whenever I wanted to really make myself believe "god did it". I did not want to die or miss out on "heaven", and so these fears drove my conflicted blind faith. We can discuss the lack of evidences 4 Jesus/god later.

They will say they are certain that there is no God,that God is not even an option for the origin of the universe. They won't even admit that God is a possibility. That is arrogance on their part. No, we don't. We don't know the details regarding the origin of the universe, but even the limited theories we have are the best explanation of the evidence available right now. It takes faith to assume God, it takes observation and mathematics and logic to try and identify the actual cause, and any theory built from that - even if incorrect - does not require FAITH to adopt as the best explanation.

Honestly, i wish i knew the answer to that question. But it is kind of hard to say, because the Bible says, that the only way you can make it into heaven is if you accept Jesus christ as your Lord and saviour. Only God knows who will make it into heaven, i really have no clue, i will do more studying on that and let you know, but when you pray for other people it helps them to learn from their mistakes. You just have to do it out of LOVE.

Some theists pray for others out of spite or because they think it will earn them some extra Brownie points from God, and that to me doesn't make sense.
I still believe that God doesn't just divide people into theists and atheists. If he is all loving, he'll let good people into heaven despite their beliefs.

Furthermore, it isn't anachronism, that's actually taken from 7th century medical tests. Getting things right that we known gives you no brownie points. But the majority of women with facial hair start to notice it during and after menopause when levels of estrogen start to decrease. So beards arent just for men. Maybe you can explain why some men can not grow facial hair?
