  • The Song had me at Hell0:00!

  • > <

    . O .

. . That scene in the book was not for kids look now I have starbits running down my eyes!

  • "Mario Galaxy" and "Sad" in the same title?

    IT CANNOT BE!

  • Nintendo forever. No matter what people think, I will always support Nintendo 100%. Its a shame that so many people dont take them seriously anymore. They need to respect the greatest gaming compan ever and the company that plaed a big part in saving the entire industry in the 80s

  • The sad story read and published by Rosalina

    Plumber's view

People call him Mario... He saved a princess countless times and defeated an overgrown drunk turtle named Bowser.

To cut this short *cue music* Mario finally killed the turtle... when all seemed well things went wrong... instead Kirby of the stars got the kiss... Mario hated his life from there... he offered Princess Peach one last thing, his hat, the right then and there Kirby ended Mario's misery.

  • The only problem for this song is that is too short! :D But its really touching and lovely.... ><

  • This song reminds me of:

    - My uncle died when I came back from high school

    - My ex-crush swore at me and cyberbullied me on fb

    - My friend got suspended

    - The boys in my class made fun of my singing and that I had ASD

  • Let's see Microsoft and Sony try to evoke this kind of emotional reaction out of its gamers.

  • @crazy4sian Oh, they are great at evoking emotion. That emotion is rage.

  • This song reminds me of:

-My two grandfathers. They died. One before I was born. Other when I was two years old.

    -The friend I once had.

-The one I used to love.

-The friend that made me mad.

-The one who used to shove.

No one knows what I've gone through. Iv'e been through alot in my life. Kinda a shame that no one knows the pain, sadness, and misery I felt. Some people have known the things I've done, but they haven't felt it.

  • @Nicki56782

It's true. I've felt some pretty tough grief in my life and people overlook it. But nobody truly knows the misery i've felt...

  • @88megagirl yeah. everybody has something they've gone through. some have alot. and some have like 2. the sad thing is, is that when i hear a phone ring, i feel fear...

  • @Nicki56782 I can understand that

  • @88megagirl yeah.

  • @Nicki56782 I feel your pain there...

  • Every time I listen to this song it reminds me of my grandmother and grandfather. Since they aren't here anymore :(

But I must admit this is one good master piece. Nintendo always put everything that is necessary for a game, even death if they must. Which is included in Mario and Zelda games.

Whether in Super Mario Galaxy, or Twilight Princess(examples any other game works as well).

All I'm saying that this music shows how much deep feeling one has like what jonny2005450 just said.

  • 9 people got in trouble with their parents for crying all over the TV.

  • Dis i like...

  • my parents keep saying that the Mario and Zelda games are games for 3 year olds. They have no idea. It rages me so much because I grew up with this, and it really taught me more than my parents did.

  • it sounds like somthing from chrono trigger, yknow, at the start, I think it's the mystery theme or somthing.

    anyways, bolth are just beutiful.

  • "No! She's not dead, she's just sleeping under the tree on the hill!" That line always made me cry

  • This story has always seemed to make me cry ;___;

  • *presses snowflake button*

...I am even more speechless than before...

  • Fucked up story bro.

  • when you hear this music in the game almost cried! ಥ _ ಥ

  • "I want to go home! I want to go back to my house by the hill! I want to see my mother!"

The girl was shouting now, her face wet with tears.

"But I know she's not there! I knew all along she wasn't out there in the sky! Because... because...

...She's sleeping under the tree on the hill!"

    ಥ_ಥ

  • @zero4999 so umm did her mother die? i never understood that last part

  • @pizzamanchris14 yes, the "sleeping under the tree" is refering to where she was buried.

  • The people who disliked this actually mean it because they hate when they feel they are crying. :P

  • I still can't believe there was something so dark and sad in a Mario game...

  • Esta historia de la princesa me hizo llorar mucho, aunke me kisiera aguantar no podia...TT.TT

    Y si aun lloro....whaaaaa!!!! TT.TT muy triste...

  • ;_;

  • Nintendo is often overlooked as being an industry for children.

This song relays a tale of loneliness, death, and grief, and more importantly, how two friends overcame it. Those aren't exactly kid-friendly subjects.

Although other games are rising in the industry that are more pleasing to the eye and much more simple than before, Nintendo has always been a master of games to me. They refuse to create anything less than a masterpiece.

And that is the reason why I admire them.

  • @jonny2005450 I agree

  • @jonny2005450 Well fucking put, sir. I too, am a major fan of Nintendo and admire them aswell.

  • @jonny2005450 Nintendo have too much undertone (Dark and deep undertone) in every each game since Supoer Metroid and A LInk to the past. Too bad the new gens are too busy shooting things...

  • @jonny2005450 They really have been aiming at a younger audience as of recent years. After the Gamecube was a borderline commercial failure and Sega dropping out of the console market, they decided hardcore gaming just wasn't the corporate way to go. While Super Mario Galaxy was a masterpiece, there's been a substantial lack of them in the Wii library, while there's been plenty of shovelware & motion control titles over saturating their library.

  • @jonny2005450 (Cont) For example, why haven't they been paying any attention to the Mother fans? Why did they take so long to make a Wii-exclusive Zelda game? I can only hope they regain faith in their hardcore fans, but so far the upcoming 3DS titles and the fact that they're finally releasing Xenoblade in America gives me a gleam of hope for the future of Nintendo. :D

The Wii-U... not so much. :(

  • @lilamah I'm glad you mentioned Mother; I had thought it had all but been forgotten. What an amazingly well-done game series that was, especially the third one. I, to this day, have still not found a game to better exemplify sorrow.

Not saying that I'm all goody-two-shoes and worship the ground Nintendo walks over. Some other companies have made some pretty good games, like Dark Souls and Catherine.

But, their old games really had a lot of emotion. I'd rather look back on my childhood

  • @lilamah (cont) as playing around a mystical land as a little boy in green on an unforgettable adventure than as a vague 20-year old soldier in some destructive WWIII future, you know?

Titles like Majora's Mask, The Thousand Year Door, and Luigi's Mansion don't get nearly enough credit as they should. And because they weren't as popular, I think Nintendo decided to reform a little around their changing audiences. I understand that.

However, I agree; hopefully they'll get back, eh?

  • @jonny2005450 I think this whole generation's just been a corporate, monotonous mess oversaturated with motion control gaming, shovelware, overhyped FPS, and a few good/great games here and there. On the other hand, the bland state of modern gaming was one of the things that made games like Super Mario Galaxy special.

  • @jonny2005450 (Cont.) On the plus side, this upcoming generation's gotten off to a decent enough start, and speaking of said underappreciated titles, both Luigi's Mansion 2 and Paper Mario 3DS have been announced (Although you've probably already heard about it by now)! :D

  • @lilamah It's true; more modern, recent-era gaming has been more about the money and mindless addiction than the morale, and it seems a rarity to find a great story in a game nowadays.

But that's also true; having all these very repetitive, "manufactured" FPS shooters that aren't very deep provided a bleak background for other original, superb games like Super Mario Galaxy to shine on.

But I agree with you, all the way! This new decade has been shaping up pretty well, and I am exited

  • @lilamah (cont) for such titles as Luigi's Mansion 2 and Paper Mario 3DS that will hopefully appeal to the growing, younger audience and influence Nintendo (and other game companies, for that matter) to return to more story-driven, immersive, unique, puzzling and intriguing titles like the late 90's/early 00's.

I'll admit that FPS games and others like it can provide some entertainment, but the true art of video-games, and what it takes to make a masterpiece, lies in another castle.

  • Look at dislike bar,It has same size as Justin Bieber's Penis.

  • @DonkeykongSw2 I'm sure it's 2x the sise of yours.

  • @DonkeykongSw2 That's disgusting and don't even incorporate that hideous name "Justin Bieber", because we are in the Super Mario Galaxy side of YouTube.

  • @DonkeykongSw2 good joke, bad song to make that joke to

  • the story talk about a lonely girl wanted to helps the lost star then she travelled all over the galaxy to find the star mother but she didnt find her but then she built her own plant HOW SAD (T^T)

  • This is why, in my opinion, the first SMG is far superior to the second one. The first one had a story, and while it was a bit shallow, it was presented in a way where it got the player emotionally connected to Rosalina and the Lumas in their situation. It made you look at the story through the eyes of a child. SMG2 on the other hand, while still a great game, was not only shallow, but had far more obnoxious characters. Both are fantastic games, but in my opinion, the first one is superior.

  • i am the only person that find this music scary?

  • There HAS to be more stuff like that story in games. It made Rosalina, the Lumas, and the Observatory feel so alive after you understood where it all came from. You know big, complex stories sometimes place a bulk of their suspense on unanswered questions, only to finally shrug them off when it finally comes time to answer them? Nobody was explicitly asking to know where Rosalina came from, but once the question was raised, they were able to answer it in a way that added to the game.

  • i think the little girl in the story is supposed to be rosalina. in fact im almost positive its a little obvious, because she is the "mama" and she makes a home for the lumas. i also think the luma in the story is the one in mario's cap

  • @grady639 dude of course it was cool how this game had a little side story to it.............

  • @grady639 It definitely is without question.

  • Theyres a secret about Rosalina

  • Comment removed

  • Whoa... wait, this sounds a lot like Sealed Door from Chrono Trigger, i guess

  • Chapter 7 of Rosalina's book is the saddest.

  • I've never heard this song in the game even if i finished the game. But this still is a very touching song.

  • shame when i see this now i think of that "nintendo: a sad story" video

  • This song is beautiful. It makes a sensation in my body that says " It's okay, it will be alright" or something like that. This piece of work brings starbits to my eyes, and reminds me of the Hell Mario went through.

  • I feel like crying every time this music plays but for some reason It also gets me siked to fight that gigantic eel thing. o.O

  • Thumbs up if you had starbits in your eyes when you read this.

  • I Think I'm The Only Person Who Thinks This Sounds Like The Song "Mother!?" From MOTHER 3.

  • I never cried during this song

  • I almost cried the first time I read Rosalina's story

  • Wait just a dern minute. This sounds like something I've heard before. Definitely chrono trigger inspired music.

  • Everyone, dont waste your time making dislike jokes. We all know the people who disliked actually liked it. ;P

  • @ForeverYukiro i bet they only disliked it cause they couldnt handle the emotion :P so yeah your right

  • I don't know why, but when i started hearing this song, a shiver when down my body.

  • @thebarkingpig Same here

  • 1. I'm a huge Sonic fan, but I guess it's just a matter of opinion. (I grew up with Sonic, by the way)

    2.This song is FANTASTIC!

  • the book sucked

  • @TheKeybladeofdarknes yes it did

  • I have to say, Nintendo normaly sucks at making good sad music, but this is one of their successes.

  • Beatiful.

  • DEPRESSING... WAAAAH! :(

  • Chrono Trigger's Sealed Door theme?

    Right.....

    I'm okay with that! Haha

  • @WGKilljoY oh mah gawd... begins exactly like that

  • Once appon a time, there was a blue spikey beast, who died cause he had no rings. In order to bring back him alive was to give him a kiss. A kiss by someone who is not his kind. As soon as the kiss happend, the whole world went into chaos cause of a big spikey turtle who breathes fire. Then one day a red plummer came to the scene and saved the universe with no lives lost during his quest to prove that he is the greatest video game hero of all!

    THE END

  • @TylerMcNamerRULES Sonic FAILED. Mario will alltime pwn sonics furry butt.

  • @0906smw Sonic is not a fail... I'm a second-generation Mario child, but I can honestly say Sonic has never failed. He's not as good as Mario, of course, but he is a good character.

  • @xxxanimepopxxx I lied. I loved and still love Sonic. Can't wait for generations!

  • @0906smw finally, SEGA get's to remember the past at last. Unlike NINTENDO, they ALWAYS remember the past.

  • @xxxanimepopxxx Dude, Sonic literly DIED in 2006.

  • @TylerMcNamerRULES Trust me, I know what you're talking about. That game was HORRID. But Sonic is still a good character.

  • @xxxanimepopxxx Yeah, I'll give credit to the underhog. ;-)

  • @0906smw You said it buddy. High five!

  • It's ironic how people bash Mario for not focusing enough on story.

  • @saijeehiguchi I keep telling people: There's a story, you just have to be willing to look for it ;)

  • @nintendomaster9793 I'm considering presenting the story for my game in a similar way it was done here.

  • @saijeehiguchi Nice. There's just something about a game with almost a *hidden* story. One that's not preseanted right infront of the player, but isn't being hidden away behinde the game itself. A story that players can discover, rather be told.

  • this reminds me of my dad he lives farway from me

  • I LOOOOOOVE music box music!

  • Nintendo, they can make a grown man cry

But seriously this is the reason i play Mario games, they touch your heart even if they aren't supposed to. Mario is the best series, the music, game play and characters are what made gamers like me become a gamer. Thanks Mario =)

  • This..is just magic...I could sit outside and sit there looking up at the night sky seeing all the stars listening to this forever.

  • This song... is genuinely painful. It struck the right, or I should say wrong, chords in us all.

  • I shed manly tears when I heard this song in the game

OK, there wasn't anything manly about it, but you get my point.

  • @MrSpacebar13 *sniff* me too

  • This reminds me of my grandfather from my dads side of the family, I just found out he died 2hours ago, this was the song he always had playing, whenever I hear it I cry so much <3

  • @292Rosie :'(

  • 8 people cried so much.

  • Great song. It reminds me of Mother 3 music.

  • @TMF58 I TOTALLY agree with u

  • This is the only time ive ever cried when playing a video game...Ever.

  • Where does this appear in the game i've never heard it

  • @godofguitar6 youve never read rosalina's story book? then youre missing on one of the best things of the game

  • @gatoman46 I have read the whole book and I think it's a well written story, but when I read it a different song plays

  • @godofguitar6 This is only heard during a part in the book where young rosalina breaks into tears when she misses her old family

  • -.- no

  • Woah, i never realized how much this sounds like ''Theme of Love'' from FF4. Awesome nontheless

  • I want this to be played at my viewing.

  • That song was final fantasy 4 but it was different

  • i love the story this mario is the best of all waaaaaaa sad rosalina story (T^T

  • Imagine YOU and the person YOU love kissing in the rain while hearing that song

  • That song make a 13 year old kid cry

  • i cry everytime i hear this song T^T

  • Those stories made a 13 yro me cry.

  • 8 people cry until that song is stuck is in there head

  • "She's sleeping under the tree on the hill!" Totally made me cry. :'(

  • Rosalina's mother is dead ? O_o I don't remember anything from her story that relates to her mom's death.. ._. Maybe it's only my crappy memory.

  • @loveelycherry "She's sleeping under the tree on the hill."

Thats what Rosalina (in the book) says after saying how she knew her mother wasn't in the sky or something along those lines.

  • How many people think that Rosalina's mother is not really dead?

  • I didn't cry too much, but it was pretty emotional. ='(

  • Rosalina's mother is perhaps the only real dead reference in a Mario game, which actually makes it very sad.

  • @zxscd You're talking about the platformers I presume? You'd be correct if so. Only because Miyamoto doesn't like story elements in the Mario 3D and 2D platformers. That's why there was basically no story in the sequel to galaxy.

If you're talking about Mario in general? You're wrong. There is tons of death in the RPG games.

  • @bONz08r0nzan That's why I said perhaps....Still, the dead references in those RPG's weren't as explicit as this one.....This is one is like if they were yelling "Rosalina's mother is DEAD and you can't do anything about it".

  • i was reading but after every sentece i said blah blah blah

  • When i read this book tears jump of my eyes and I want to hug Rosalina TRUE thumbs up if you want to hug her

  • id like to go on a date with her, im actually a boy

  • @SuperMimi0425 NOT YOU TOO!!!

  • @RosalinaAndPeach i felt so bad

  • @TheMarinePlanet I did too

  • this music is beautiful but i never heard it before in smg1 but i played smg1

  • Rosalina's been through a lot. She helps others and doesn't ask for anything in return. Peach just gets captured.

  • Mario: Hey. a Book *Reads* Mario: im not going to cry im not going to cry *Cryies* sniff*

  • Me: what the a library

    5 minutes later

    *crying* so beautiful and sad

  • man... this song made me cry a lot. It's on my top 5 music that made me cry. this one is number 2 right next to Earthbond 3: Name this children. Nintendo games has the sad vibe while the other counsels might have some sad songs but not as sad as this.

  • Comment removed

  • this song always make me cry.....:'(

    your story was so sad,rosalina........

  • I was upset that in Super Mario Galaxy 2, they didn't have a side story like this.

  • Didn't break a single tear even though Rosalina's story is pretty sad.

  • I didn't play SMG1 yet and I already cried at this.

  • The beginning is nearly identical to Sealed Door from Chrono Trigger. 0:26-0:36 sounds very familiar too, but I just can't seem to pinpoint what it reminds me of.

  • "And I must take care of them."

She threw her bag aside, "Maybe later I will go"

She carefully opened the door to her luma's room, where it lay there sound asleep. No bye bye mama, No good night, Just a soft breathing.

Rosalina then kissed the luma on the cheek and whispered to the luma, "I will stay here"

The luma smiled to itself silently, for it knew that it had hope.

"I will always protect you" Rosalina promised.

Saying this, she felt a small spark in her heart

    I love this song!

  • @twijill thanks for making me cry. :'(

  • @ESHIGGINS123 Oops I'm sorry. :'(

  • "Do you promise mama?"

"Yes I do little ones. I just need to go see my mama and papa. Then, I will be back"

She wiped away the tears in the small luma's eyes. The lumas then went to their beds and tucked themselves in for a good night sleep.

As the girl got ready to leave, she remembered that sad luma's face, and how she left her family on her own.

"You know," The girl said to herself, "I already have a family. My name is no longer Rosie, it is now Rosalina, and These lumas need me"

  • In a small distance, there is a light, a small one, but a light. A small girl rushed to it, and vanished. She was never too be seen again, and all hope was lost. The world suddenly became a rock of hate. Meanwhile, the small girl closed her story book and looked upon her lumas. She smiled to herself and told them, "I must go back home"

The lumas started to cry, "No mama! No! Please stay with us! We don't want you to go!"

The girl kissed them all gently on their heads, "I will be back."

  • Here if Rosalina DIDNT liek the star bits...What would she eat???METEORITEZ?

  • I'm tired of the comments. Can't I just listen to this impressive music among people who actually enjoy it rather than just try to make jokes?

  • @Namadu7 I enjoy it, and made a joke. :l

  • I Pressed Backspace And It Played And Creeped Me Out Now... O.O

  • Im Not Going To Bed Tonight!

  • I listen to this while reading manga it helped but when it got to a part I went all like 0.0....... (=3=)!!!!!

  • Rosalina: There once lived a girl. Her name was Rebecca Black. She sang a song that brought death and destruction to everyone's ears. It was called Friday. The End.
