  • Kelley Blue Book lists the current value for the '79 Caprice Landau Coupe at $100 to $300 above the regular coupe, depending on condition. It doesn't break out a value for the '80 Landau, but you can figure it'll probably be about the same difference over the '80 coupe. For the '80 regular Caprice Coupe, the values are: $2025 in Fair condition, $3950 in Good condition, $7400 Excellent. For all conditions, deduct 10% if it has the 3.8 V6. Hope this helps.

  • My family owns a 1980 Chevrolet Caprice Classic Landau Coupe does anybody know how much that model/car is worth? ive been dying to know but no research that i have done has told me how much its worth.......please help

  • DID U SELL IT YET

  • @NikeBoy39 Not for sale. Never will be, as long as I'm alive and kicking.

  • النعل امه الكابرس ماشائالله ياحلو الكابرس واااااااااااااااو

I own a Model 79 Come to my private and will see him there are two sections

  • @6025176 You've got a beautiful, clean Caprice! I always thought that Caprice sedans looked great in black. It looks like there's a lot of Caprice owners in Kuwait!

  • @cansmakit that story hurts my feelings lol real talk i got a 77 caprice 4 door had it since 16 n i hope it never ends up in ur hands lmfao

  • @ 5:08 It's a ghost car lol.

  • @cansmakit Well, cansmakit, I'll put this as plainly as I can. Not with this car. Never. Ever. Not even if someone offered me a rotisserie-restored red '61 Impala convertible every year for the rest of my life to give up this car. It's a member of the family, and it will stay a member of the family. Hope that clears things up.

  • @cansmakit Har-de-har-har. You're a riot, cansmakit. You're a regular riot. Anybody out there got a Camry or an Accord to sell him? Now those are truly disposable cars;)

  • @artistmac if this thing was a rusted out pos then yes i would say sell it to him to crachs up in the derby, but that car is great looking. you don't see too many of these cars around in that condition anymore.

  • @aux1z11 i found it thx man.

  • Good old car. Dont buy a Ford they are junk.

  • great vid man, !! i enjoyed it, and thumbs up for you keepingclassic american automotive heritage alive and well !!

  • how do you put a fuel pump in these cars i jus bought a 77 jus looks just like this one but cant figure out how to replace it

  • @juggalo450 its easy, it sure as hell aint like todays cars that you have to take the gastank out to get to it, these are on the front side of the motor, 2 bolts and the line and thats it 15-30 min job.

  • FINALLY a Caprice someone hasnt fagged up with 20's or a wing or a horrible custom paintjob. these cars are a hard thing to come by in good condition. i had an 83 4door 305 and my buddy had a 79 4 door 305 that we swapped for a 350 and built it to 450hp and put a 3 spd jasper tranny in it. put nascar grade brakes on it and left everything else alone. it would hit 140 mph with ease. but only in a straight line of course lol.

  • good year on them....looks awesome

  • i dont know much about cars but i'd rather have a ford taurus 1994

  • @jthoov To each his own. But why '94? Tauruses were the same from '92 to '95, and not that much different from '86 (Taurus's first year) up to '91.

  • @artistmac oh, i was joking. =( sorry

  • One of the best sounds in the world at 4:45.

  • thats a nice car man i have a 1986 caprice 2 door ive grown up with this car my neighbor bought it new in 86 he kept it till 2000 then he sold it to my dad he passed away last year then i inherited it now i have this car means so much to me i am going to keep it forever or as long as it lasts its my baby

  • We used to have a 1985 and an '89 Caprice Station Wagons. Both where very reliable vehicles. I miss both cars.

  • i saw this in my related section and couldnt help but say HOLY CRAP that is really nice for a 79, my soon to be firebird is an 86 red in nearly perfect condition never restored but it has had... paint oxidation? or something like that, just because of natural wear, but its amazing inside and out. i cant wait to have it and make a video of it :D

  • This is only looks clean and stock. Great condition! You don't see many of these in this condition + all fabric. Are there any (minor) flaws?

  • i like it looks clean

  • I Just found one today in a barn its for sale just as clean

  • Comment removed

  • Very nice car. Take good care of it. I had a ´78 Caprice once. It´s still in good condition.

  • is this bitch for sale or what man

  • @darealgreaseball You'll have to pry it from my cold, dead hands. And even after I'm gone, I'll haunt the new owner so bad Stephen King will have to write a sequel to "Christine" ;)

  • @artistmac aww naaw man i feel you but that is my favorite chevy of that model 4 door and 2 door

  • @artistmac

thats like my response when people ask me if i want to sell my car.

  • @artistmac hahaha I LOVE IT!!! im quoting this when someone asks me about my baby

  • My first car was a 78 Caprice Classic Coupe. Powder blue. I miss that car.

  • The buildings are still there; City Chevrolet is long gone, having moved in with Rogers Auto Group (formerly Rogers Pontiac) several blocks south. When they were still in business, Chevy used City's giant animated neon sign in a TV commercial. And for years until Caprice production ended, that dealer had a no-bid contract to supply the Chicago Police Department's Chevy cop cars.

  • man i wished i was at them multi story warehouses where those caprices and impalas were parked at i would been a kid in a candy store trying to pick one out

  • I saw in the description that it was "too bad City Chevrolet routinely undercoated their cars". Why is it "too bad?"

Also, this thing only has 120 horsepower?

    GREAT VIDEO!

  • @classifiedinfo The undercoating they used back then developed cracks that would trap and hold salt and moisture in northern climes. It was Rust City after that.

As for horsepower, what can I say? The full-size Chevy 350 that year made 170hp. The top Corvette 350 made 225 hp. The late 70's-early 80's were a bad time for V8 muscle ;)

  • Chevy engines were painted blue that year and also put in Olds 88's. Many Olds owners sued because they thought they were getting Olds motors. Hence the term "Chevymobiles". I do believe the LM1 350 was a better engine than the 350 Olds.

  • Very nice car, and awesome work on the video. Nice to see all of the details. I'm about to get my hands on a 86 Caprice 2 door for $200, cuz the guy at my job just wants to get rid of it.

  • Dang! You got the 8-track!...All I have is AM radio....

  • Typical American dashboard at the time. All it told you was how fast you were going and how much gas was in the tank. How times have changed.

  • Beautiful, love the fastback glass they offered in 79 take care of it , its a future classic !

  • You know, I didn't know if I'd really like this, but I do. Good job on the filmwork too.

  • Nice car, I'm more of a fan of the 1980's. Had a 1980 caprice with a somewhat rare 4.4 liter v8 they only produced for about 3 years I believe. Odometer tripped 3 times in that baby and still ran great, original tranny and engine. Had the chevy valve stem seal leak but otherwise it was fine. Tough tanks they are. Ended up rebuilding the carb (which sat on a 4 barrel intake stock which was weird) and replacing the fuel pump along with the radiator.

  • cool car

  • I found the story about these cars stored in a multi story warehouse interesting and yes...as the 1980 models hit the showroom floors many dealers around the country were saddled with '79's. I'm guessing this has to be the last year they came with analog clocks? They were indeed handsome cars with smooth rides and well appointed interiors. Actually.. the full size Chevy regained the #1 sales leadership from the Cutlass in '77 but then lost it the next two years. It's great the car is all stock

  • Thanks for the great video. I got a 78 Caprice wagon, also Ziebarted, in 1990 for $1400. It has very little rust and runs great, even today, even if it needs a paint job and some interior work. The 350 has lots of power, but it is pushing a large, heavy car. 15 mpg. My mechanic also has a 78 Caprice wagon, and he thinks they are some of the best cars: durable, easy to work on, cheap and plentiful parts, etc.

  • well done vid. alot of work gone into it. congrats bud

  • Awesome car! Interior looks similar to the '79 Monte Carlo my uncle has.

  • I love these old cars, still wish I had my 1980 old's cutlass (4 door) thing felt like heaven on wheels when driving. It ran until the day I sent it the junk yard. Gm made some decent cars up until 82 but then they started to get crappier. I really liked 79 impala, pretty much the same thing as the caprice.

  • @beast6228 We had a 79 Impala, my dad traded his 74 Impala in on it, the year it would not start unless you bucketed up. It was nice, optioned kinda of strange though. Had power door locks, tilt and cruise and a ditgal clock, that was in the place of the reg clock. Had the seconds that moved... lasted 4 years and the clock stopped. 305, not much get up but a great engine. Had mirrors on both outside doors, both remote. I wonder if someone ordered it, two tone paint as well, dark blue light top

  • @1969pontiac1 I'd still be driving cars like this if it weren't for the gas prices. I remember when you could put 5 bucks in the tank and not worry. This is when they made real cars, now a days everything is plastic.

  • @beast6228 I would too, you are right this is when they made real cars, now you barely bump something, it does 2,000.00 in damage, the 5 mph bumpers stuck out but saved me a couple of time in a slow bump.I love the rear window on this Caprice, wish GM would go back to making them like this again. my dad was a salesman and I bought the Impala from him 83, and drove it 7 more years. It had a 183,000 miles on it and someone T- boned me... on my side and I walked away. changed the oil every 3,000

  • I know a guy who has one of these, has only 4000 Kms on it (2500 Miles) but sadly isn't really worth anything. Its mint tho, his mom bought it in 1979 and died a few months later, nobody was allowed to touch it for years.

  • These cars are classics. The claim that they were the last of the full size GM's is not 100% accurate. The '79 is a rare breed in that the B-body Chevrolets only included the years 77-79. They were a downsized in 1980 but remained stylistically very similar all the way up until 1991. Even a '90 is a treasure these days! So it's nice to see a great looking '79 still going strong and in good shape. The key to keeping that 305 running forever is simple: KEEP YOUR OIL CLEAN! good luck.

  • i buyin me a old car cus these new ones these days get cut off by the company if you dont pay the bill. you know good and wel i aint payin no bill

  • nice ride 5outa5

  • SWEET! MY FATHER HAD A GOLD-1 WHEN I WAS A LITTLE KID!

  • ran the stop sign

  • @tss212 Oops:D

  • @tss212 Id give it a "rolling stop"

  • @tss212 Rolling stop? xD

  • @tss212 Lol i seen that too

  • why are you converting from R12 to R134? Did the AC leak?

  • @importsstillsuck Yeah. Since it only gets driven a few days a month, it's not even worth it right now to convert it.

  • I have a 1977 Chevrolet Impala wagon. I got it from an elderly gentleman who hadn't driven it too much (87,000 original miles when I bought it) and it's still the most reliable car in my family after nearly 2 years and over 10,000 miles.

  • i dont like the bipbipbipbipbipbip

  • im finna get 1 one but i got roadmaster lt1 runnnin right now

  • great video, i like your detail focus, very deep inside camera work. excellent job

  • Wow, talk about memory lane, when I started driving, my dad drove a 1979 Caprice Classic Landau, it was a good car, despite the issues we were having with ours (mostly age related), I've never been in a car with a better/smoother ride. The car was bought from my grandpa in 1990 (who got it new in '78-'79 replacing a wrecked '77), my dad sold it in 2005 to a guy he works with who wanted to fix it up.

  • is it fast?

  • Imagine 120 hp trying to push almost 4000 pounds. The V8 sounds great, though;-)

  • @artistmac what a beuaty is that multi story warehouse still there with those caprices and impalas or was that a long time ago?

  • Nice car... having a master tech work on it is over kill though. Insted of paying a GM goodwrench guy $70 per hour to fix it why not read up on how to do it your self? I find it relaxing to work on and tinker with old cars like this one. its sooo rewarding when you get a problem solved or make her run better with your own oil covered hands :-)

  • wanna sell dis muthafucka?!?!

  • Nope. It would be like selling a member of the family. And over the last 31 years, it's been more reliable than some members of my family;-)

  • i had one like this but 4 doors and white color. these cars are very strong. i seal it in 2002. and it's still serving.

this is when the US cars were No.1 but no longer :(

not like me new chevy tahoe 2008 with a big problem in the transmission in the agency workshop 3 days ago till now... :S

  • I miss these cars.

  • thats a BIG car..

  • Comment removed

  • true.. but then again my first car was a mercedes Benz S-Class

  • wow. I just bought a 4dr 79 just like this one. same color and everything. Mines all messed up. Im going to try to fix it up. Looking at your video is like seeing what my car looked like when it was new. lol

  • i know i commented before nice car!! the only thing i got to say is get rid of the emissions shit get brass plugs plug the holes in the exhaust manifolds and get rid of the smog pump catalytic converter if the catalytic has a bolt in the bottom your in luck pull the bolt out rev it and knock all the bb's out of the cat but make sure you save them there platium lol and that engine will last forever trust me i have had more than a few 305's

  • awesome car good to see some one keeping up with one to bad no one makes cars or trucks any more once they got smaller than this they quit makeing cars and once they started putting computers in them they went to crap

  • great car! i've been an american car enthusiast ever since i can think, especially those boxy shaped full-size cars from the 70's&80's. a female lawyer in my town owns a 1987 chevy caprice classic, it is a four door sedan and i think it runs the 305cui, it looks to be in mint condition and always catches my eyes anytime i pass it by. greetings from germany.

  • My late father owned a 1979 Impala (light blue on blue vinyl) that he bought new then later inherited a 1978 Caprice (black on black cloth) - your Caprice is like a hybrid of the two. Looks to be in good shape and brings back some childhood memories for me. Thanks for sharing.

  • man you just cant kill em. i own nothing but Chevy trucks, but i can respect the hell out of them old Chevy cars to.nothing runs and last like a Chevy. except a john deer. very nice car dude. keep it up

  • every housewife who drove one of these cars beat the hell out of their tires -- always hitting and scrapping the curbs -- anyone agree?

  • @njguyzz21 yeah, but it was a housewife's son that did it :P

  • SICK fades in and out toward the end! Nice ride. Brings back memories.

  • Looks like a great car. Your mom took good care of it. My uncle bought a new Catalina in 1977. It looked small on the outside compared to the '73 Olds 98 he traded for it, but it still had room on the inside. I liked the Pontiac, for a big car. My cousin had just turned 16, and he liked the Catalina a lot better too.

  • was she a 305? or 350? Oh another thing my mom had one and i noticed that the buzzer pulses when you had the door open instead of horrible buzzer cars had then is this true? I had never seen another one like mom's that had the pulsing buzzer cool.

  • @jas4925 my dad's 79 Impala had the pulsing buzzer, my dad's had the option Light group, I think it was a part of that option, the inside lights would stay on until you got the key in, and when you go out the inside lights stayed on, that was before most of them know do that, I would have people say you inside lights are still on, i would say they go off automaticly. People just looked at me funny.. also when you turned the car off they would come on, wish we had kept it in great shape like this

  • that be soi funny if u car got hit then stolen then salvaged lol then 1988 iroc got burned

  • Very nice. My friend has a '77 Caprice Classic, it only has 17,000 original miles. It's a really nice brown color, the car looks brand new it's so comfortable too!

  • very rare its hard to find a 77-79 two dr box, u got u a keeper, i been lookn for one of these for a minute now to add to my chevy collection

  • my brother has got one for sale.. Reply to this if interested. Only $4000

  • Thats cool it has a Economy mode for air con

  • That thing looks amazing!!! the interior looks almost brand new!!! and its just amazing that its lasted all this time!!! Cool man!!! cool!!!; and yea Ive seen a number of the old caprices like this and older pontiac parissenes(spelling) around here and its like everone says they just dont make them like they use to. :)

  • nice looking old chevy you have there... Those things are sweet!!! I saw an old Pariesienne the other day... that thing was cool looking too!!

  • I just read the info on the side, I'm SO glad you're keeping yours all stock. I'm sick to death of people customizing these classic old tanks with 22's, big thumping stereos and what-have-you, just so they can run them into the ground and end up in a junkyard somewhere.

  • I haven't seen too many '77-79 Caprices/Impalas with the rear defogger. I always wondered how it was arranged with that curved rear window. Very nice car. My brother had a red '78 Impala with that same leather interior, only in white.

  • that be funny if a car drove bye sideswiped it an took off lol

  • you moron... that's not funny

  • Very nice video.

  • WOW :-) super car dude !!!

  • Great car, with great style. I wish they made cars like that these days.

  • wow im so glad to see some still out there there made realy well compared to todays throw away junk cars..new car safety my ass ive never heard of so many people dieing in todays shity made cars that fall apart you know why they fall apart they would rather have you dead than pay insurance money im telling you every auto garage agrees with me.. 1 more thing all the garages love old cars just because they are so easy to fix its not even funny i can put a new motor in within a couple hours lol....

  • That's why I drive my "bigass" '87 Fleetwood Brougham HEARSE. It's twenty feet of reinforced steel with a rollcage and armor plating. Today's little plastic cars need twenty airbags to protect the driver and passenger, old cars had real frames and bumpers, airbags were a plus, but not NEEDED.

  • i agree dude, i dont know shit about cars...i have an 89 caprice and was able to do most of the work myself with just the shop manual...89 9c1, i love it. My dad put a new 350 in it too!

  • @midnitesquirldog omg i couldnt agree with you more bud! :)

  • yu must be lucky to have this car man i would love to get them in fucking u.k cause they dont like them cars and they dont even have taste on cars like the Americans

    nice video faaanx

  • wouldnt it be too big for the roads in the uk?

  • yes really big man lool trust me yu wont even find a parking for it as well thus how bad it is and the roads are so so narrow as well.

  • I like foreign cars over MOST american cars, but my caprice was handed down to me and i fell in love with it. I sold my 2005 Acura RSX ("honda integra" overseas) and dont regret it. i have an 89 9c1 and it runs strong! but i guzzles the gas

  • yea that its kind of true and I wasn't hating on ur caprice is just that I like the convertible better !

  • Yet somehow we managed to win WWI and WWII and give the world Levi's, McDonald's, Converse All-Stars, jazz, Jeeps, Barack Obama, Chevy small-block V8's, cigarette boats, Ford Mustangs (one of your favorite cars) the Motown sound and MTV. I'm glad you live blissfully free of our Dum American influence;-)

  • looooooooooooool yu gave him no chance to even speak

  • As well as most "Miracles of Invention" out there both today and yesteryear and of course Coca Cola. I would NEVER in a thousand years purchase a vehicle that was NOT American made. Studies show that foreign cars are just about the highest cause of America's economic crisis today. Other countries don't let their citizens purchase cars that aren't made there, but in America we do. The problem is that people still choose crappy plastic foreign jobs over cars. If it ain't American, it ain't a CAR.

  • @mabdiuhrman what the hell are you taling about? it is an awesome car

  • Have a 79 Caprice Classic with 35K miles on it. Had to redo the interior body panels due to fading, but it looks great now.

  • i saw on your interior door handles you have some sun deter. not much thought..

    did u sand it down?i have a 77

  • AMAZING! Mines is so far from that condition! One of my fav videos.

  • Thats a beautiful car I really like the appearance of those caprice's and impala's with the bent rear window

  • dang man if i had that car i would put everything u said u wouldn't put on it

  • You take good care of your cars.

  • thank you i love this video it is nice

  • Great video. Reminds me of the 77 Chev Impala I used to have. You never see cars with the cool bent glass back window anymore. That's getting very rare. If you can, take it off of the salty roads of winter and make a summer driver out of it. The salt is what ultimately killed my car.

Keep an eye on the frame behind the rear wheels, the rear bumper brackets and the floorpan in the front seat. GM didn't do a good job on rustproofing my 77. It's great your mom Ziebarted this one!

  • What a nice car and great to see it like it came out of the factory, cool color, keep it as long as you can enjoy

  • i love the back window. my 79 Impala has that same curved glass.

  • Very nice video of a very nice car. That's great that you have kept it in the family for so long. Keep it up!

  • man if that was a 4 door sedan i would have probably mistakened it for daves cheviac

  • damn thats a nice car, when I was a kid my dad had a 1983 4dr caprice good memories and an amazing car..

  • this is a GANGSTER! car MENG!

  • cool car & cool video!!!

  • What a gem!! It's nice to see one of these that isn't modified in any way!

  • It's nice to see someone take such pride in their car. My first car was a 77 caprice classic 4 dr w/ a 305 v-8. just had to do brakes and a master cylinder the 2 years that i had it. It was rusty, but trusty. The interior was very nice though. I still see them but very sporadically. I also had a '73 later on w/ a 350. I have to say the 77 was good. But i favored the 73. Well, best regards.

  • Thats a sweet car, i got a 78, im the 3rd owner of it, its extremely rare to rind a one owner car like that, if you know where any parts are for one these let me know

  • Nice car man! Keep it running, it will be going up in value quickly. They are getting quite rare and have great "period styling". I owned a 77 caprice coupe in high school. Fun car to drive.

  • bitch the value aint going up for a 79 caprice fuck off they are a dime a dozen dumb ass

  • Funny, that's what they used to say about 55-57 Chevys, 64-66 Mustangs and late 60's muscle cars. Time will tell;-)

  • Quite rare? Where do you live another planet?? You must be kidding!! hahaha

  • The 77-79 Caprice and Impala 2-doors are definitely rare (they never sold as well as the sedans, even when new.) Just try finding a replacement "bent" rear window with working defroster wires. Finding straight, unrusted 2-door body panels and trim pieces is no picnic, either. And nobody's making reproductions. An untapped niche, GM (hint, hint)?

  • Well in 1979 there were roughly 60,000 of them sold. Between the 2 Door Sports Coupe and Landau Coupe. Thats why I wouldnt consider it to be a rare car. The reason there are no repro. parts is the car just isnt that desirable. But hey I do give you alot of credit for keeping yours looking good. Maybe in another 20 years it may be a collectors Item..?

  • That's 60,000 coupes out of 500,000 Caprices and Impalas sold in '79. Definitely rare, compared to the days when the 2-doors routinely outsold the 4-doors. Desirable? Maybe not in your neck of the woods, but here in Chicago I've got at least 20 standing offers to buy it -- not that it's ever leaving my possession. (Apparently, not everyone wants a Camry or Accord. Imagine that.) A business making repro parts for 77-90 big Chevys would be a license to mint money;-)

  • haha No imports here man. Cant stand them. Im into pre-1980's American cars. Never see me driving an import :) But you are probably right, out of the 60,000 cars like yours made half are probably not on the road anymore. So I guess I can see your point. in it being rare. Being that im more into the old muscle cars rare is generally a lower number :)~ Anyway take care and keep it clean...

  • classic industries sells several reproduction body parts for the 80-90 full size chevys however no one make reproduction body parts for 77-79 full size

  • I should have bought one of these a few months ago. But ended up with a nice 78 Tbird. I was trying to get something more disco era looking than this. I prefer these over the 1980 Restyle. Good job man.

  • yo homie nice chevy but its been over 20 years and they are still a dime a dozen , they will never match the value of any 60's era muscle car. 4getaboutit. no disrespect player

  • that's a beautifull car!

    not that japanese shit

  • agree

  • how many miles does your chevy caprice have snice it was new

  • A little over 80,000.

  • i got a 72 mali,i want a caprice just like that

  • makes me wish I still had my 80 cutlass (4-door) I had that car for almost 20 years, still ran the day I junked it, even had a beautiful interior and a rust free body, except for the rear frame rails that held the bumper on. I wasn't gonna waste my time with it.

  • awesome car good for you man......my dad used to have one just like yours in venezuela

  • This is a good looking car ... we have the same ... 79 chevy caprice its the same colour too .. except its two tone silver ..

Ours is all original too ..

we just started up ours last night ... Without the exaust .. i think we might be putting a flowmaster exaust on it ..

This is really a good video !

    x

  • Looking good. Now that is a lot of miles.

  • I applaud you for deciding not to butcher up this car. Not very many unmolested examples out there anymore.

One thing, the stock cat converters were JUNK back then, ditch it and just put in a straight pipe. In Illinoiz we no longer have to test '95 and older. Also replace stock muffler with a stock size turbo style, you almost wont notice the difference in sound with single exhaust, put it will have a bit more power and mpg up 1-2. I did this on my '85 Caprice, you'll like it.

  • Check out impalassforum*DOT*com/vBulletin/

Though no boxy dedicated section, under the Caprice forum there are lots of boxy people there, you can pretty much get any question answered.

BTW I had a '75 Impy wagon (now that was a BIG car), an '85 Classic, '87 wagon (shoulda kept that one) and currently a '94 9C1...love that LT1.

  • I thought the 77-79 Caprice lineup came standard with the the 350 4 bbl, and the Impala came with the 305 2 bbl. Perhaps I am mistaken - because this stock Caprice has the 305 - unless it is an Impala re-badged as a Caprice?

  • I'm looking at my '77 to '79 full-size Chevy brochure, and the standard engine in the 77-79 Impala/Caprice was the 110hp 250ci inline 6. (Not too many people went for that one.) The two V-8 options were the 305(130hp!?) and the 350(170hp). Emissions regulations really strangled the life out of those engines.

  • your 305 is the LG3 i have the same engine in my 79 impala it is similar to the 78 305 except it has a rodchester m2mc dualjet it is was rated at 130 hp as you mentioned and 245ftlb I noticed the ported vacuum switch for the heat riser has been changed i had the same problem

  • it isnt a rebadged impala it has the distinct caprice headlight bezels and tail light lenses and header panel on the 77-79 impala the sidemarker sits about an inch away from the head light and the bezel doesn't curve around the header panel. the taillight lens on the impala contain the reverse light and taillights as one piece as the caprice does but the reverse light is taller and wider

  • Thanks, yeah, you're right 305lg3. Also, didn't the Impala have a more open waffle type of grill? At 16yrs.old, in '79, our family car was a '78 Impala wagon w/ the 350 4bbl option. Came standard with the Carter 4bbl. We thought the cat.conv. was a bad idea, so we replaced it with a "test pipe". No other "family car" could keep up with us, including a Buick LaSabre 455, Cadillac ElDorado 500, and others. No worries, we respected it and dad sold it in good shape yrs later w/ over 180,000 mi.

  • It's gorgeous. I wish someone would find and post the full sized Chevy (probably Impala or Caprice) commercial from 1977 or 1978----it had the jingle "Now That's More Like It!" Also, if GM started to make cars like this again, their troubles would be over. Give a mechanical update to the 1978 Olds Cutlass but do a retro styling package and they couldn't keep them in showrooms!

  • Great video, Beautifull caprice.

    Respect

  • Man, my dad had a Caprice just like that when i was a kid. I have always loved that body style. Nice ride.

  • That is a nice car you got, I thought the 1977-79 style were the best looking Caprice's of the post 1976 models, the 1977-79 Caprice's are my second favorite era of the Caprice's after 1967-70 Caprice's.

  • Only 80mph on the speedometer? I've always liked the Caprice aerocoupe's don't see many late 70's full size coupes like you do with the sedan's that's for sure.

  • Like going back in time....

Very cool video and nice car!
