  • RIP Peter Tosh

  • I love at the end of this video...you see all the amps and drums set up? You KNOW the Stones played a set in that little bar for real during or after they were done shooting. THAT must've been quite cool. Walk in for a drink and there's the Rolling God damn Stones!

  • My grandparents just passed away, they loved this song. 8 people were waiting on a friend who never came. I'm 14 and I love the Stones, Beatles, AC/DC, Zeppelin...todays music sucks! Only 367,973 views? This should have 500,000,000! The dislike bar is the size of Justin Bieber's dick.

  • great group great video

  • that song remindes me of us ...sue .july .and .july

  • I GOTTA FUCKIN BUY TATTOO YOU IT HAS SO MANY DAMN GOOD SONGS

  • @Yellow4494 i highly recomended it man, if you like Stones you'll enjoy a great collection of 70's and early 80 's Stone's work.

  • @luxardo2001 Thanks actually I have bought Tattoo You since I wrote that. It's amazing! Bought Goats Head Soup at the same time. Neither one has any bad songs on it they're all great

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICK YOU SEXY MOTHERFUCKER

  • "I'm just waitin' on a very high and/or drunk friend..."

  • @mahajohn I;m just waiting on a friend with some good smoke.

  • Keith Richards: one of the coolest guys EVER? I think Rimbaud would have aspired to Richardean Coolness, had he been around in that era.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG SOOOOOO MUCH! AM JUST WAITING ON A FRIEND!

  • the last time Mickie ever showed some genuinality [}

  • Master Piece Theater !.LOL!

  • A beautiful tune, & one of my top favorites from Mick Jagger & the boys! This proves that they could do soft & mellow music along with their fast-paced Rock N' Roll that they're mostly known for, & they highly succeed with this wonderful little number!

  • Stupid video. Keef looks off his tits.

  • @Selecta88 Umm, probably cos he is...

  • Mick had a fling with David Bowie, does that answer our question?

  • Why is mick lookin at keefs arse when he says ,dont need no whore?

  • Gods of Rock and Roll, 1. Beatles,2. Rolling Stones.3. The Jimi Hendrix Experience,I'm lucky to have seen,#2 and #3.

RIP George and John,Live Forever Sir Paul and Sir Mick!!!

  • @geehowdy1 Ah, decent list but you forgot the greatest and most talented band ever, Led Zeppelin

  • @plantationful You're right about one thing, Zeppelin were the greatest...the greatest at being overrated. Zeppelin were terrible live. That's not really even a matter of opinion but a matter of fact. Out of tune, out of time and not because of drugs either but rather a lack of talent. Page could write but he couldn't play for shit.

  • The Sax makes the song for me!

  • Don't those people in the bar realize that the Rolling Stones are playing?

  • Thats how they Roll. Nothing like the Rolling Stones. They gathered No Moss.

  • I'm just waiting for my eight-ball.

  • Love this song

  • Ronnie Wood: Boy Scout of the Year...LOL!

  • Man, Keith looks sooooo wasted!

  • My favorite song!! makes me and my brother who has stage 4 brain cancer, so happy. We will be in the hospital room singing this at the top of our lungs:)

  • @theateam2012 Good Luck from france brother

  • @theateam2012 ill pray to the sky light and the true compassion for him , pray and play , he will recover , the power of powers will clean him off , pray and play . , from my mind and soul , ill pray for him , so will you....

  • @theateam2012 we wish you the best in the world,

  • @theateam2012 prayers are with you great tune!

  • thank you Sonny Rollins and Peter Tosh ... in different ways, of course.

  • RIP josh (1974-2008)

  • Favorite RS song

  • bla......Mick and Keith really hated each other at this point. this video is PRETEND................................Keith thought that Mick was too much in control of the Stones............and Keith was in the process of kicking his heroin habit. and Mick took control of the Stones, and pushed them into Dance/disco/Post New Wave music.................so that explains the horrible albums...........Emotional Rescue, Undercover,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but not Dirty Work.

  • @nashvegaspredator :

Keith kicked heroin 3 years earlier than this clip for starters, and the real bitterness between Keith and Mick was yet to start, it wasn't until after Tattoo You that Mick sold them out for a pathetic attempt at a solo career. It was at this point that the real bitterness began. But yes, Keith was a little peeved about Mick's ever growing need for control. However, by this stage they'd known one another for over 25 years. I'd say that their relationship was deep enough..

  • St Marks Grill.... ahhh the memories, you will be missed my friend.....

Sonny Rollins does some EPIC sax work in this song.

  • Another classic from -"Tattoo You"-

  • and the beginning of Heaven on Earth; Yes I go into a higher state of consciousness when I hear this my favorite RS Song....

  • Does anyone really know what this Song is about; even the Rolling Stones? Sometimes in the Purity of a Artist's Consciousness. something opens up; it's the Divine Light[ it can happen to anyone[ in that moment; something divine enters the Earthly Plane through the Human Beings Nervous System and Manifest as something; Well, something unbelievable...in the End the Final End A Friend is all there is; No Marriage, no Brother or Sister, Father or Mother; just a Friend. is the Ultimate Relationship

  • Mick looks ridiculous from the beginning to the end... but he's still Mick Jagger !

  • 1:35 best mates in these days it seems to be :p

  • God I miss the simplicity of 1981

I only knew one person whose dad owned a top loading VCR

No on could afford the laser disk

and I think its the year we got our first microwave oven

...Oh and these guys seemed really old to me then

  • this is shot in front of the very same building that appears on Led Zeppelin's Physical Graffiti cover...

  • I am a huge Stone fan and with so so many good tunes to choose from, I don't know what it is, but I just absolutely love this song, I can just play it over and over and over and over and over again. It always puts a smile on my face, a gleam in my eye and a hop in my stride.

  • i fucking love this song. i'm just waiting on a friend, so many different ways that phrase can be read. waiting for them to turn up, waiting for them to be ready, waiting for them to notice i'm the one etc!

  • Takes me back to Five Points Garage in Fontana CA, hanging out there one afternoon with my dad while 3 generations of Syracuse worked on our truck, this was playing on a small transister radio. Funny how music can bring back even the most routine and uneventful memories.

  • Probably my favorite Stones tune. It's simple, has a great smooth feel and sound. A nice lyric too. Love this one ! The video is cool also, I remember seeing this for the first time on MTV, immediately went out and bought the record. Those were the days !

  • @DrAstro321 Cool 10x my brother

  • @DrAstro321 Cool 10x my brother

  • my brother died of aids in 1994 he lived in n.y during the making of this video n the stones asked him to be n it. such a beautiful song n my bro was my best friend. when the stones go into the bar n head toward the small stage hes the one smoking a cig n drinking a beer at the bar for the last 2 mins of the song. i sent the video to my mom on his b-day 4-26-58 evrytime i hear this it makes me cry .. rip my brother. i know u r always wathching over me

  • @christopherhutton1 How cool to have your brother immortilized in a Stones video...!!

  • I remember hearing this song from a friend back in 1981. I have always loved it. R.I.P. Chad W. Hurst! I can still hear the boom box back at Silas Willard!

  • My all time favorite Stones song.

  • Beautiful. Brings a tear to my eye thinking of friends alive and gone :)

  • how could anyone human dislike this song?

  • @Mishi816 I don't know, I could think of a few. Like most of the young misinformed ears out there who just fill their heads full of the junk music they are making these days. In the words, the young people who will flock to a Justin Bieber, Black eyed peas or Lady Gaga concerts. Maybe one day, they come around.

  • Is Don Knotts Mickey J's dad?

    Love these guys!

    One of the great songs.

  • @deec269

Hah ! Seperated at birth ... the same as Yassir Arafat and Ringo Starr .

  • @squabs217 lol :)

  • recuerdo esta cancion alla por 1990, volviendo en el 42 de ver al campeon en Nuñez...como me gustan los Stones y cuanto me marcaron...

  • when song says "i need someone to protect", Jagger looked at Keith instead of Woody...he really needs protection

  • @luxardo2001 and Richards says with his head "yes, yes" looking bored to the camera...

  • @luxardo2001 and Ronnie realized that he's fuc$%&ng drunked...

  • i could wait bro Richards for ever...

  • Fantastic song, and guitar riff is heavily borrowed from Joni Mitchell's "Coyote."

  • buena letra, simple pero buena

  • Bill Wyman and Charlie seem to have their own party going on here. Too bad they were relegated to background.

  • A truly amazing song that just offered more proof (AS IF that was necessary) at the time, of how fantastic this band was!! Damn, but's it's impossible to not love this tune.........

  • Takes me back. The Lower East Side on a summer evening, back in the day... It's still alive, every bit of it. Just let the music take me away...

  • 9 people don't have any friends....but seriously this is the greatest song rolling stones have ever done in my opinion...so amazing and sonny rollins is a king among saxophonists

  • I'm a guitarist who has to admit that I will never ever play a solo as beautiful as the saxophone work on this song. :/

  • @richmonksgtr Thats OK kind of hard to compare yourself to Sonny Rollins.

  • @sfldd BTW that would never happen today - Washington Square is just an adjunct to NYU now - fuckers.

  • @sfldd Washington Square is the only place that I've ever been offered unsolicited heroin. Kind of thought to myself man do I look like an addict or something? (never done it)

  • im just waiting on a friend arent we all mick great stuff love it

  • Some of the Stones' videos have been taken off, like "Start Me Up" and "It's Only Rock and Roll." I really hope the others don't disappear, too. :(

  • Love this song.

Sonny Rollins is absoloutely flawless on the sax in it

The St Marks bar & Grill...I will miss you (replaced by some "trendy" bar now)

The stoop of 98 St Marks Pl where they sat is the building portrayed in Led Zepplens Physical Graphitti album cover.

  • Hot New York City summers...gotta love it!

  • Charlie Watts is just as important a member of this band as Jagger and Keith... I hated seeing him off frame as if he were a second banana. Love the song. Hate the pecking order.

  • @zzyyxxo Yes he is - Charlie has been a key part to keeping them together over the years. Love Charile!

  • A hymn to friendship, a relationship that must remain unbreakable. True friends are for ever, and more difficult to find each time. Gee, I need a beer right now.

The Stones rule, they cannot be beaten.

  • Great song, horrible video

  • @TheCuse13 fuck you!

  • Loyalty means alot to Keith. That's the defining term.

  • Now this is the the few of the millions of songs that should be played on New Year's Eve every year through 6 AM in the morning New Year's Day. Dick Clark Rockin New Year's Ever needs more music with SOUL like this.

To hell with the God forsaken dead greed corp souless crap.

  • God bless Mick and Keith. Now this is an example of many of my kind of music.

  • How cool is Keith in this video? Jesus.
