I just finished watching both "Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee" and "Into the West". Both left me weeping bitterly. I was so stricken to know more about the history of this massacre. The Iroquois entered through NYS from the south from 800 to 1300 A.D. Aboriginal tribes that were in NYS as early as 3000 B.C. were exterminated by the Iroquois. The Five Nations original bloodline can be traced to one tribe of about 1000 persons at Montreal Canada

He approached the Onondaga, Oneida and Cayugas to also agree to not fight each other. It took a little longer for the Seneca tribe to join, but Dekanawida managed it. The Five Nations attacked the Hurons in 1649 to 1651. They killed over 20,000 Hurons. Most Hurons escaped by moving west and north. Another version of this story, shows the Indians refused to give-up their weapons, and then a shot rang-out, then U.S. Army returned fire.
Folks, please keep in mind, these women and children stayed near their warriors during this engagement, and of course, could be injured/killed during a battle with the U.S. Army.
In addition, these women and children, who were old enough, 14 years earlier mutilated and disgraced dead bodies of Fallen U.S. Soldiers, at the Little Big Horn River in 1876.

Lincoln was dead at the time of Wounded Knee, having been assasinated in in 1865 - one year after Sand Creek and the Long Walk, 11 years before the Little Big Horn and 25 years before Wounded Knee. The president at the time of Wounded Knee was Benjamin Harrison.

I just finished watching both "Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee" and "Into the West". Both left me weeping bitterly. I was so stricken to know more about the history of this massacre.
