If they really made the bats look realistic then nobody would care about them, bats in real life are fugly! I'm glad they made look the way they look, I think it's great! This show was unique and kinda dark for a cartoon, that's why I loved it!
I'm not a kid and I like the way they are! human hair, anthro and all LOL. It's called character design <3 watch this watch?v=1NOi4XaVyIY and stop insulting this movie i love it<3
@KazikuEntertainment Yeah I can see by your channel why you like the look of this. This is not supposed to be cutesy like pokemon or some stupid cartoon furry series.
I have read all the books, and I think this movie should be more realistic. I am very disapointed.... This seems like it is for five year olds, yet the books are not...
@HybridFights I don't know. From what I read about the books (I have yet, regrettably, to lay hands on a copy of them), I can see at least one definite improvement.
Shade's Voice sounds familier like from a show idk where so and also shanuk's voice too from somewhere can anyone tell me where they voice came from a show besides this
Soren "yeah i know that, mostly Tyto's screech just like me (barn owl). (barn owls, grass owls, masked owls, sooty owls, all in the Tyto family.) but still, when they made the owl screech in this movie they made it look like Racdrops!!"
@BlasphemousApples It drives me nuts that they think the only way to keep kids interested in animals is to make them all look like gargoyles, make them all different colors, have them speak in lame pop-culture speak and give them freaking human hair.
These...are not bats. And this...is not Siverwing.
@wingedsonar I have to agree actualy. If they were going to turn it into a film they could have at least put some efort into actualy making them look realistic.
@wingedsonar I thought that too. I thought that the voices sucked, the animation wasn't that great, and the entire movie it's self didn't pay Kenneth Oppel for his epic work on the book. That's why I thought that they should make a re-make with more realistic animation and better fitting voices.
@ILoveYourMom88 yaaa... but considering.... i don't think i'd want this connected in any way to the book. it was too good for the choppy animation and cheesy lines.
@director0kala Agreed. I nostalgia all over the place. I think the problem was the designers mainly. The writers did try to introduce a few new species and intrigue. Lulz go to the "black bear who happens to be white" with an African accent. Get it? But yeah, the writers tried to emulate Oppel's tale.
@FightsRightsAlways The first book is fun, and the mistakes made about bats are forgivable. For a look at Oppel's progress in writing about animals, see "Darkwing." It doesn't tie into the original trilogy, so you can read it without worries. The evolution theory is butchered for the sake of good story telling, but I really enjoyed this last installment. Highly recommended for teens or older.
@ChimeraFox181 A hundred times better than the show, despite several errors, though I wasn't crazy about the third one. Personally, if I could do it all over again, I'd skip Firewing. Reds and Silvers can't breed, and Reds are solitary, not desperately seeking to rejoin any group. Period. Darkwing doesn't deal with the trilogy, and Oppel's story-telling has vastly improved in that one. Evolution is botched in it, but despite my nerding...I found myself enjoying it very much.
@wingedsonar sounds like good books, I like anything that has to do w/ bats.1 question though, waht are "Reds"? I know that the Silvers are silver-winged bats, but not sure on them. Thx, 4 the reply :)
@ChimeraFox181 Oh, right, reds are what Marina was based off in the books. Reds have a very rounded appearance, and the females have a pale coat and a pudgy face with tiny round ears. They also lack a leaf nose, as do silvers. The book notes Marina as having a "delicate leaf nose," and the show...well...yeah... Then again, the first book also says Goth has a 6-foot wingspan, which is only true of the fruit eaters. The second book notes the correct wingspan suddenly. lol. Editors, anyone?
@444prfctdeth At first it is accurate as far as any adaptation is. But later on...there's just so much filler. And yeah... "Who the bat!? YOU the bat!" They might as well be texting on their ecophones. XD
@wingedsonar Its kinda more that the character designers were lazy and decided they didn't want to spend the time making them look realistic but individualistic and resorted to cheap tricks like adding hair to distinguish the characters. The result of a low budget and unimaginative designers.
I loved the books. I always pictured everything differently but so far this seems promising. I can't wait until Moonwing comes out (Oppel is working on it and he said there are at least 2 more books after that)
lol saw the tv show a while back forot about it read the books loved them heard their was a tv show looked it up and remembered lol love this series so much
Huh. The bats' bodies are a little too human like, but other than that it seems a pretty decent representation. Anyone else reminded of that cartoon Chaotic?
@marco1140 I read the whole series by Kenneth Oppel, and I agree that the pictorial representation is utterly false. Why can't they make them look realistic. They are silver-haired bats, black with silver tipped fur. No weird colors, punk hair styles, etc. I also hate when they have bats standing and walking on their feet. They can't do this! Only the vampire bat can run for a short distance, but cannot stand like these "bats" are doing.
If they really made the bats look realistic then nobody would care about them, bats in real life are fugly! I'm glad they made look the way they look, I think it's great! This show was unique and kinda dark for a cartoon, that's why I loved it!
