You've inspired me to want to do my own review, but I probably won't. :) (As to your note down there to someone else, I love SEL, Last Exile, Ergo Proxy)
I also got this from ebay after scouring the site for months: $30 brand new (without the art box or lenticular covers). Worth every penny and more. I've seen it twice and will definitely watch it again.
The violence was handled extremely well and realistically. That was what caught my attention in the second episode: after Ichise's dismemberment, he goes into shock. Not common in film (at least the ones I've seen).
Yeah, that attention to realistic depictions of pain caught my interest as well. I remember seeing that and going, "Owww, that had to hurt." The lack of heroics and the complete whiteout of agony he experienced made Texhnolyze jump out at me. It would make for a terrific live-action since besides the technology, it really was all about the human condition and survival of the fittest.
@silenthillvictim I don't know how you can complain soo much about the pacing if you love Lain. I can't believe you thought ergo proxy was better.... Honestly I didn't find that one to be deep at all. Not saying it was bad just it didn't hold a candle to texhnolyze. I will say that if you have ADD, texhnolyze is not for you but neither is Lain then. Anyways judging by your taste i think you would like Last Exile. Definently worth checking out if you have not.
The government was actually Class>(Organo=Alliance)>Lakan, while the Class may have sat on the sidelines they held power over all of the inner workings of the city, i.e. power, technology, and military supremacy, etc.
Also only Ichise's technolyzation, has a bio-circuit which after the "power" outage allowed him to continue to move his limbs. Overall the series is designed more so as a psychological thinking story rather than a simple brawl and gore series.
From the sound of the limbs thing you were talking about it reminds me of "Automail" from The Fullmetal Alchemist series. same sort of thing, when they loose a limb, they can get an automail bodypart that they atatch to they're nerves...
DragonballZ had really long fight scenes. When I go back to them now it's like "I thought this happend faster?!" They power up for like 5 episodes xD This sounds really good :]

Good review, but i dont agree. Texhnolyze is one of my favorite animes of all time for many reasons. Very deep and meaningful.
