i was at this show, and this murawski dude you speak of was solid but didnt play with the same soul of trey, whom isnt even as good as he used to be. I was apparent murawski was a secondary guitarist at this show for a reason, and he knows that. Also when comparing the abilities of players of this magnitude it really comes down to opinion
Trey is better than Warren, they're both better than Jerry..but the guy on the left, Scott Murawski, is better than them all. He is more technically sound, more wildly improvisational, better versed in a wider range of guitar playing styles, and far more empassioned a player. If you're talking commercial success..well..it's tough to beat the success of Trey and Phish...but if you're talking pure and unadulterated guitar ability...Murawski is perhaps the best all around rock guitarist out there.
that may be so. doesn't matter to me though. i've seen them all and i like trey over all of them. even when he completely butchers a song he's played 500 times (i get a kick out of it when he does), i still like his style better than the others. murawski doesn't have a consistent enough style to forge a solid identity. probably why not many people know who he is.
I have heard this argument, but I don't feel that the notes he (Murawski) chooses to play, the particulr modes whatever..... don't resonate with the common ear in the way trey's do. Simply put trey is more fun in his playing..... he lilts more, is more playful
also check this vid he is playing a languedoc.... lol
I can't tell you how much this almost made me cry, one of my favorite John Lennon Beatles songs played by one of my favorite bands. They sound so fresh and rejuved.
this is ok... if you want a great she said, and the hardest working guitarist in show buisiness, see warren haynes with mule. Trey may be better, be warren works hard. Dead, Allman and Mule touring a few years all at the same time... and mule kills this song.
trey is the best guitarist of our generation period. Look at what he accomplished. people can say technically someone else may be "better" but as far as passion, and complete dedication to music...Trey takes the gauntlet.
haha...again maybe2045 trying to cut down trey. Scott wishes he had a career and discography like trey. trey owns every guitar player in scene and now that he is sober, we will only see him get better.
Crud... I walked over to the 'Mule' venue right b4 this happened. This has that raw Phish sound that I hear in the early recordings (<'95). Like playing music F everything else... I like it... just needed Page.
this is fantastic... i was about 30 feet back from the stage. there was no mistaking trey, mike, and fishman on this jam. i can't believe there were people who totally missed this performance. sucks for them...
who are those cool kids with that phish flag?...o wait me
