1) The reason local Armenians fought in the war was because they were in a region dominated by RUSSIA (Abkhazia). If the regions controlled by Georgia (that were inhabited by Armenians) were attacked the local Armenians from those regions would take the Georgian side. Another thing you have to remember is that Russia would rather have Armenians not like Georgians, a lot of the Armenians fighting on the Russian side were mercenaries.

3) Russia has a base in Armenia for because they are the only thing preventing us from another massacre by the Turks.

4) All of the Caucasus hates Russia? Russia has control of all of the Caucasus. Armenia and Azerbaijan are under Russian hand. Azerbaijan also let Russia use Azeri air space during the August 2008 to attack Georgia.

Armenia is not taking sides against Georgia, we even provided thousands of Georgian refugees take shelter in Armenia during the war. We have no choice but to keep good relations with Russia. 1) Armenia was part of the Ottoman empire. Some Armenians may have been forced to fight in the Ottoman Army, just like how Georgians, Armenians, Turks, Ukrainians, Kazakhs, Lithuanians, etc were forced to fight in the Soviet army because they lived in the USSR. Comprendo?

2) I could not find a source that said a large number of Armenians participated on the Turkish side during the Battle of Didgori.

you are not understanding what I am saying. The ones that fought in the Bagramian battalion were Armenians that lived in the region of ABKHAZIA which is under control by Russia. Since Russia is the rule of law, the local Armenians fought under their control. If Russia was to attack Tbilisi its likely that the local Armenians would fight on the Georgian side because the Georgian government is the rule of law in that region. Understand what I'm saying?
