I think she had a cold here, her tone is unlike any other live performance she has done...yet it's the most beautiful- I just feel sorry for anyone that ever had to follow her on a nights performance YEOOW she is amazing. Only god could give someone a voice like this, that gets better with a cold!

Whitney was on fire here and her stage presence was phenomenal. I certainly loved the fact at that point in time, she looked like she was enjoying pleasing the crowd while delivering an amazing live performance. Thank goodness for videos like these!

Whenever I watch her perform I'm reminded of Judy Garland in her prime. She had such power behind her voice and Whitney has that same power and emotion. There are other great singers, but todays singers don't deliver that kind of fire. Today's singers don't stop you in your tracks.

Her phrasing was a little off but this was otherwise a flawless performance. Her vocal is astonishing. The sound of her voice, her range, her power -- everything about it is incredible. Truly one of the greatest voices ever.
She was feeling that night and KNEW she was hitting on all cylinders! Some of those notes are just insane. In her prime, nobody could sing a medley like she could. 8, 10, 12 minutes straight of hellacious sangin.
I remember being a kid and watching this live and I was spellbound. It was like the beginning of a new era for her live singing. She sounded so rich and just sang so freely with fire and grit. Impeccable phrasing. Wow!
i can't name a singer today that has the voice to compare to Whitney Houston......Jennifer Hudson, Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, etc....all have INCREDIABLE VOICES!!!......but its still something about Whitney's voice that they just dont have......maybe its the Tone....or The Power....or maybe a combination of both....but whatever it is....NO OTHER SINGER AFTER HER comes close to perfection than she....she is truly THE VOICE.....her talent is pure magic..
I know people continue to say Whitney's voice is gone and all but you can't compare her then or even a couple of years from this moment to any singer today. Whitney is very versatile she can make any song her own like MJ's startin something or chaka's Im every woman. she just commands the stage....every note already knows hows its going to be sung so it flows with ease no matter what register, she is a great talent but her voice was also a product of sacrifice and a lot of practice!!! One of the greatest to ever sing...

I also realized how much different this version of ATMTIN was compared to previous versions which sounded much lighter ... even the studio recording didn't sound as dramatic and powerful as this one.

every time i see these old live performances of whitney's, it seems like she just beats the song down; puts it in a headlock! because she never has that initial struggle to hit notes, she sings down on top of them, even if she goes up in pitch. The only other singer i've heard that does that is Mahalia Jackson. havnen't heard anybody like this, ever. She is the best!

Whitney was on fire here and her stage presence was phenomenal. I certainly loved the fact at that point in time, she looked like she was enjoying pleasing the crowd while delivering an amazing live performance. Thank goodness for videos like these!

Whenever I watch her perform I'm reminded of Judy Garland in her prime. She had such power behind her voice and Whitney has that same power and emotion. There are other great singers, but todays singers don't deliver that kind of fire. Today's singers don't stop you in your tracks.

Her phrasing was a little off but this was otherwise a flawless performance. Her vocal is astonishing. The sound of her voice, her range, her power -- everything about it is incredible. Truly one of the greatest voices ever.

She was feeling that night and KNEW she was hitting on all cylinders! Some of those notes are just insane. In her prime, nobody could sing a medley like she could. 8, 10, 12 minutes straight of hellacious sangin.

i can't name a singer today that has the voice to compare to Whitney Houston......Jennifer Hudson, Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, etc....all have INCREDIABLE VOICES!!!......but its still something about Whitney's voice that they just dont have......maybe its the Tone....or The Power....or maybe a combination of both....but whatever it is....NO OTHER SINGER AFTER HER comes close to perfection than she....she is truly THE VOICE.....her talent is pure magic..

I know people continue to say Whitney's voice is gone and all but you can't compare her then or even a couple of years from this moment to any singer today. Whitney is very versatile she can make any song her own like MJ's startin something or chaka's Im every woman. No one in my mind can compare to her and she has the greatest stage presence and all she's doing is singing no one can hold that kind of interest IMO from just singing.

The Bodyguard was already done by this time. Major motion picture films can sometimes take up to two years to produce and some take over a year before they are released. Just FYI in case you didn't already know this.
I also realized how much different this version of ATMTIN was compared to previous versions which sounded much lighter ... even the studio recording didn't sound as dramatic and powerful as this one.

every time i see these old live performances of whitney's, it seems like she just beats the song down; puts it in a headlock! because she never has that initial struggle to hit notes, she sings down on top of them, even if she goes up in pitch. The only other singer i've heard that does that is Mahalia Jackson. havnen't heard anybody like this, ever. She is the best!
