RS4 Avant and RS6 Avant are basically all u need in a car. ahhh... yes it has 100 more ftlbs tq but it also weighs 600 lbs more with 4wd which means more drive loses to the wheels. I think the heavier m5 with longer gears and less aero would be a very close race with rs6. Otherwise i think the m6 would walk away the same way it does to the m5 at higher speeds.

i saw a vid of it. it was 2009 RS6 vs. new M5 on m5board it put like 4-5 cars on the Bimmer, i dont know how much faster the m6 is from the m5 but i doubt it be faster than the RS6. either way all 3 cars are monsters

I saw that vid. But m5 board has rs6 vs gallardo and the gallardo put lengths on it. When they did gallardo vs m5 it was a kneck n knech race. They also have a second rs6 vs m5 race where the rs6 pulled on the m5 at jump but the m5 begain suckin it in uptop. So who knows?

Avant is ugly but the sedan is magnificent. Iidc what anybody says audis are killin it right now with their next generations like the A5 and the R8 and most recent A4s. They are absolutley gorgeous with the LEDs and the curvacious body. BMW is slackin this rapes an M5, but Merc has the CL 65 AMG which is king for now. You also gotta realize this thing is a beefcake weighing in over 2 tons...but just wait..***RS5*** BABY! it will debut at the detroit auto show in Jan. Look out for it.

I've read lot of bullshits here about this car :) I work in the Audi engine factory where the engine is built (Győr, Hungary). So the facts are: 5.0 liter V10 Biturbo FSI. 580 HP. It has nothing to do with the Lamborghini Gallardo engine (which is also built in Hungary) Gallardo (the first type) 5.0 MPI (not FSI). New one: 5,2 liter FSI HDZ (Hochdrehzahl) 560 HP, no turbochargers, but revs till 8600 rpm ,RS6 "only" up to 7000, but with more torque, and this torque steps in much much sooner

Mercedes may have lots of horsepowers but the engine is much bigger, they build a 6.2 litre V8 and audi does a 5.0 V10 but with 2 turbos, instead of making a big angine thez put turbos in it...

you're right, but you also have to consider the reliability of the engine. the car is designed to be driven anyday, anywhere...and people don't want to let their engine get serviced every 5000km.

of course they could have built that engine with more output, but, as i said, reliability would suffer. anyway, i have read (in a german car magazine) that the engine actually has more hp (probaly >600hp), but audi claims it to have 580 due to political (-ecological) reasons!

well guys let me try to explain the real meaning and purpose of a RS6, M5 & Co. with my broken english:

you don't only buy a car with 500+ hp,

you also get about 100 meters of autobahn in front of you while driving - a free left lane is nearly guaranteed (idiots excluded) - it's about prestige and respect, that you get!

try to do 230 km/h at 2 p.m. in a japanese one on the autobahn, they will fu**in thwart you - change on RS6 and you get the aha effect :-D
