I was at this gig,it was a great night, on the same bill we got to see steel pulse, john cooper clarke and the pirates all for free, the night before was the clash and sioxsie and the banshees, that was a free gig as well. Great times in manchester!
correction: according to wikipedia's "So it Goes" page, the clip was actually filmed at the Elizabethan Ballroom, Belle Vue, Manchester. That is probably correct.
You're very welcome, Redpunk. Greater thanks are due to you for posting this clip. I have it on VHS somewhere but hadn't seen it for years. Some more trivia: this features original keyboard player Bob Dickinson who left shortly after. The whole song is based around a C# minor to A Major chord progression except for the last part which goes E major to F# Major. I prefer this version of the song to the album version. If only it was available on CD....
@saxfreak01 John Mcgeogh, one of the best if not THE best guitarists of his generation, that progression just after between coffee and tea still sends shivers down my spine, very sadly John`s no longer with us.
Queen Elizabeth Hall, Belle Vue, Manchester. Clip first shown on Tony Wilson's 'So It Goes' TV prog. A great clip of Shot by Both Sides from the same gig was also shown. This was only the band's second gig. The ginger haired guy in the audience was believed to be Mick Hucknall for many years, but was apparently some guy called Martin.
Devoto frightens me quite a bit in this... and I love it!
