  • This is NOT how you load a horse, and if she hadn't been loaded in a while, maybe you should have taken the time to work on it with her for a few days. For her sake.

  • How selfish of you to post this... actually...Im glad you posted this to show other people HOW NOT TO BE Cruel to animals.

If you knew you were gonna get rid of her and she hadn't been in a trailer for a long time...why not work on it with her days/weeks before.

    Extremely irresponsible of you!!

  • what is you problem apparently you don't know how to load him! ************ you and your family

  • she's trailer shy,

i work with horses that are trailer shy.

horses like this one need trailer buddies....

  • This is why stupid people should NOT have horses.

  • @azcinch i agree

  • u should have gotten the gate further away after the first time she hit it, she could have been seriously injured.

  • @TAYLORSANTOSUOSSO I really agree I'm reporting

  • You LEAD a horse into a trailer, you dont PULL it in.

  • you kinda did have control. it was your horse. maybe you should have loaded the horse yourself

  • @Anna85578 Sorry, I should've put in the description: "My families horse". I fixed it now.

  • Wow, you "sent your horse away" I'm assuming to auction where it will/would be slaughtered because of an obviously mild form of founder? You should never have owned a horse.

  • @salywalshable No, to a place where they take care of horses with any sort of condition.

  • @PhotoCocoa96 You mean like a vet? lolz

  • @SarahVstheClown What?

  • @PhotoCocoa96 Do you mean she went to a vet...?

  • @SarahVstheClown Oh, sorry. No, I can't remember the name of the place but we don't have the horse anymore. I guess it's kind of like a horse rescue place.

  • Why do you want people to read the comments? Do you not want all the know it alls telling you what should've been done?

  • Everyone needs to read the description.

  • Comment removed

  • Did she founder in her back leg? I always thought it was in the front (but to be honest I haven't done much research) And just curious why was your trailer so low? Or was it on a ledge?

  • @ohmyhi It was on a ledge.

  • Just keep yanking on the rope, that's only going to make her more scared, she could have been seriously hurt by that fence you know.

  • ow the horse might have a bruise poor girl:(

  • This is sooooooo good, yOu are such an amazing trainer, WHat a good idea to use food to get your horse on the float? I might use that method, Can i please you it. If so please reply. YOUIR AMAZING! omg never seen someone with such a good idea. THANKS BABE.

  • @MrLiberArchie Are you being serious?

  • @PhotoCocoa96 hellll noooo

  • long rope, too small trailer, standing in front of horse..retarted handler...the list oes on how stupid u are!!!

  • poor horse..

  • Foundering is just when a horse goes lame, not from grass, my stally foundered when they were collecting AI at an equine hospital, it's kind of obvious they didn't expect the horse to freak so bad.

  • AmberElaine.....circumstances can change, you know. Perhaps they could spend more time with her when they got her, but then something happened and they couldn't care for her as well after. They did the right thing by finding her a new home. Its not fair to judge, especially when you don't know the circumstances. :(

  • Why someone would put this on youtube? The poor horse... there are scary things all around it terrifying it. The trailer is lower than the horse, so it can't see where it's going to end up. A properly used butt rope would have worked better than anything else, but better than that....feed a horse in the trailer for days or weeks. Slower is better. Can't force things on horses, if you do you just scare them. Just for anyone who sees this and doesn't know what's wrong here. (in a nutshell)

  • Wow. That horse was clearly afraid to go in yet you put a person inside the trailer trying to pull her in?.. That would freak me the fuck out!

Also having that metal gate right behind her, smooth.

  • no wonder! if it goes in it will smack its head on it! too big for the trailer... anyway its a sheep one aint it?

  • Its hard to take really good care of a horse when you don't see them often, you probably did what's best for her

  • my horse did that. it was lol

  • wtf !!!!

  • A horse can be cured of founder by loosing weight. A pony i know that foundered and horse i know lost weight and were rideable again ;u btw you should of trailer trained your horse first

  • And dear everyone else: These people weren't mean to the horse at all. They even released everytime he reared. Chill out, there are much more cruel people.

  • Hi, I have no desire to tell you how to teach the horse to get in a trailer. Particularly becuase you said youd sold her. I also don't want to preach to you about what foundering is, because you sold her and it doesn't matter! Haha, just thought you'd apperciate that after everyone's been bitching at you. :)

  • @TheDenverOmelette Haha, thank you.

  • Try using clicker training to train your horse to go into the trailer. Horses do not want to go into trailers naturally. Be patient.

  • when you try to put a horse in a float, convince them with a treat, because their eyes are so wide apart they think that they are going in a cave or something so if you have a light in your float turn it on so it doesn't look so dark. :) hope the advice helps. :)

  • Founder is not a disease, it is when owners let their horses have two much green grass. I would know because I have a horse that got foundered befor we got her and now she has to be put up every night. We still have her too, we didn't get rid of her because she wasn't ridable anymore. She is a loved family pet and her name is Dixie.

  • @DxixiesGhost99 What a coincedence that your horse has almost the exact same name as the one in this video. I changed disease to condition. We had to give her away because we were only with her on the weekends and couldn't take care of her.

  • @PhotoCocoa96

awww. Oh yea and I did notice our horses names sound alike but my horse is White with specks on her.

  • @DxixiesGhost99 Not trying to cause an argument, that's not exactly how a horse founders. It's about weight and nutrition. It's true that green grass can be a major cause, but if you have a thin horse with a high metabolism, it's less likely to happen. If your horse is overweight, then there's always a chance that it will founder because it's hooves aren't made for too much weight (even if they don't eat grass). I speak from experience. 2 of my horses have foundered before. And I still ride them

  • @Epiphify Also, I'm just speaking of causes. The actual foundering itself is all about the bone inside the hoof, so please, no one correct me on that. :)

  • my horse did that too, but thats bc his old owners beat him whenever he reared or backed away from the trailer... i fixed it though in time. by actually setting him up STRAIGHT ..

  • omg what are you on? you people in this handled the horse in a very WRONG way. there is no such thing as a dangerous horse , only bad handlers and who treat horses in a poor , bad way to make them constantly scared of humans and not want to be around them. what horses like this need is to have some quality one on one time with a professional trainer who knows what they are doing and no how to react and handle horses correctly and not in a incorrect way like in this movie.

  • @ilovehorse1100 No such thing as a dangerous horse ay? Tell that to people that have been killed by horses. Some horses feel trapped and lash out, is that not considered dangerous? or what about my friend, she was standing beside her pony and he saw a piece of plastic, ran forward pinning her to the side of a tree. Only reason she's alive is her helmet. There is such thing as a non-dangerous horse, all horses can be dangerous. Knowing how to handle them does help keep you from getting killed.

  • @TayzandCharm horse's are only nasty and dangerous if they are threatend or been treated poorly!!

  • you knob, dont think you realise how dangerous this is? nice one bbe xoxoxox

  • No wonder he didn't get in, that trailer is too small and FAR too low for it. And how do you want the horse to go in when you're standing in front of it?

  • well at least he did he gave her to someone who knew about horses instead of jsut leaving her to suffer I think he did the right thing.

  • Why did your horse have to be taken away because of founder (no 's')...and where did you take it? It doesn't look to severe, so it probably could have been fixed with corrective shoeing and some pain medications. Also, what do you mean by you couldn't take care of her? If you're selling your horse because you couldn't properly care for it, you probably should have gotten a horse in the first place...but I hope that's not the case.

  • @AmberElaine0824 Like I said in the description, we weren't with her a lot. We would only go to that property about once a week so, we couldn't take care of her. And, we gave her to someone that takes care of horses with different problems.

  • @PhotoCocoa96 That's a shame. I hope you don't plan on getting any more horses. They're a lifelong commitment.

  • @AmberElaine0824 We weren't at the property very often so we couldn't care for her when we were away. She went to a place where they take care of horses with conditions.

  • @AmberElaine0824 Maybe they could take care of it before?! I think it's pretty nice of them to sell it, there's a lot of horses starving out there because they just leave there horse on the meadow without taking care for it.

  • why the hell was there a gate there ..? just swinging ,, just saying ...

  • guys calm the bap. This was 2 years ago. Lets not get a high and mighty with know it all ism.

  • If that's what you call crazy then you haven't seen one throw a proper tantrum. That was just a little rebellion from a horse that knows a muppet when it sees one.

  • Umm.... There is TOO much fail in this for me to even list all of it off..

  • umm , that trailer is draggin on the ground ? & thenn the trailer LOOKS to small for the damn horse . smh , get it together peoplee !

  • the guys looking right as her as he trys to get her in.. maybe turn your back and she may feel more conforabel :)

  • LOL! it toke my 11 hours to got my new pony star in to a talier nd we had 2 try 3 day in a row!!

  • a.) It's called founder, not founders. Or more correctly, laminitis.

b.) Is that a cattle truck? The horse would not have room to lift its head above its withers in there. Given that, I think it's fair enough that it didn't want to go on.

c.) The stand-in-front-and-pull-the-rope method is about the worst way to convince a horse to move forward. Horses move away from pressure. If you're trying to yank it forward, it's going to go backwards.

  • The horse is walking fine, he hasn't got laminitis; he's hesitant moving forward because he doesn't want to go into the float

  • may i ask why are you using a cow or sheep trailer, the horse maybe more comfortable going into a horse box, lush horse by the way x

  • horses are still considered partly wild animals and they are prey. Where do predators usually hide??? in caves ... The trailer is a cave to the horse, and its scary to the horse, but good trailer!!! at least light can filter through!!! some trailers are so dark its hard to see!! :)

  • sorry, but for that guy that was leading the horse ( and I don't want to sound mean or up myself ) but he really shouldn't be standing in front of the horse... :) soz

  • When y horse does that we put a blue lead rope around her bum and she goes aww, whats that better run on the trailer and it works and now she gets on there fine :)

  • my horsey used to do that, but we fixed him :) <3

  • Put a rope around his butt and drag him in.

  • try walking besid the horse rather that coaxing towards you, it might help, i was watching the parelli stuff and pat was saying that it is like you are trying to lure them into a cave x

  • So, you think the horse has Founders? I see no evidence of it. Horses tend to be reluctant to move at all and have a leaned back stance. And just so you know, Founders is not contagious! LOL

  • @CHEVYedsf The vet said the horse had Founders. And, who said it was contagious?!?

  • @PhotoCocoa96 Just they way you said it was a 'disease' made it sound l like you thought it was contagious.

  • @CHEVYedsf That horse definitly founder/ has laminitus my horse just had it a few mounths ago u can tell those hoves are way stocks up and can barly walk puting her in that taylor probly did not help at all

  • @onisoccergirl22 You know what? After studying the video more I see that now.

  • @CHEVYedsf It is very evident that this horse has founders esp. in the back L. foot

  • @CHEVYedsf The leaned back stance is full blown laminitis. When a horse founders the crest usually gets thick and heavy and the feet will be hot to the touch. Founder can be treated so the horse doesn't worsen into a laminitic state. It seems this horse was taken to some 'farm' like a piece of trash. If anything I tihnk this horses topline looked thin, even before i read any of the other comments.

  • wow that horse is so wild some one go get the anbulence he hurt the gate ohh noo

  • i know you was recording but what should have been done was to get beside the left shoulder and walk the horse in.. pulling on the lead rope instantly triggers the horse to pull back to get out of that situation.

  • It would take an amazing horse that would load into that trailer. It is way too short.

If a horse has a bad experience even one time it takes lots of work to undo what happened. If they bump their head, etc. they are going to remember.

The horse needs training for sure and would proabably rebel no matter what trailer was offered.

  • @YoemenCoach77

actually horses stand herringbone in trailers like then when there isn't a partition, so it wouldn't matter if it is too shot as the horse would be standing across the diagonal, however if it did have a partition then yeah i would agree..

  • Oi. Y'know, there's an easy way to make horses trailer load. It's called working with them. A trailer is an enclosed, dark, noisy place, no horse in their right mind would want to go in one right away. Even though she may have done it years before, that was years before. She needed to be worked back into it, to be shown it's not scary or potentially dangerous. Way to ignore the horse's point of view (all who own the horse), and to expect to much of her.

  • My mother's friend had a horse that we'd have to spend hours just trying to get onto the trailer. You got her in after right? If you did, then that's what counts because at least you didn't just give up.

  • @NikkifullLovesAdolf Yes, we got her in

  • NEVER put pressure on a horses head t get them to go anywhere. the easiest way is to lunge them at a walk around you then slowly make your way closer to the fence... make sure you are at the horses shoulder and push the horse from behind either with the rope or a whip (dont use it just have it there as encouragement )

  • Yeah, just leave a METAL gate behind the horse... Good one dude

  • @JessayJxox

i guess, it worked well! even if they didnt "put" it there in prosper, you can see how the horse reacts calm, always after it hit the gate. looks like the horse just wants to bluff

  • that trailer looks a bit small !

  • You obviously know absolutely nothing about loading a horse, for one you NEVER stand in front of the horse and try to drag it in.

  • @PoNyStArZaNgEl So true!

  • that trailer is too short for the horse

  • @cowgal58 lol no its not

  • @cowgal58 It isn't too short, they just aren't loading it correctly.

  • @PoNyStArZaNgEl It is. He will fit in there. But if he rears in the trailer, he will his hit is head. hard.

  • @cowgal58 That happens with a lot of trailers, however most people with trailers like that do other measures to ensure the horse can't rear to his full potential.

  • Don't Listen To The Hater Comments. This Was Fine. All Horses Have Their Moments. Even Mine! And Shes A GREAT Horse! So Dont Listen To These Rude Comments. Haters Gunna Hate.(:

  • @MissILoveNickasaur I completely agree with you. Any one who dislikes this is obviously stupid. The horse is fine and for the people who didn't read and was saying the horse was limping...it had founders..duh! Try reading once in a while people. Gosh, I never realized so many people were EXPERTS on how to load a horse into a trailer.

  • @HorseGurl73097 Just because in your opinion you dislike this video, does not make you stupid, it is just expressing your opinion. It isn't other people's fault that they don't know how to load a horse correctly.

  • @PoNyStArZaNgEl Omigosh I am really sorry I didn't type that my cousinn did :( I'm really really really srry whoever i offended :''''(

  • @HorseGurl73097 Ok, no worries.

  • @MissILoveNickasaur This was fine? Yeah course it was... sure horses have their moments but it doesn't help that they are loading incorrectly.

  • Oh Knock off witht he rude comments its a fine way ok? Nothing was harmed was tthere? I dont think so

  • looks like a job for Clinton Anderson and the Downunder Horsemanship way! <-- lmfao I'm freakin' weird.

  • @HorseFever596 id vote this up a million times if youtube would let me!! went to his clinic this yr in ohio and fell in LOVE

  • @jacksongoboybuck lolll! I watch his TV program ... theres only like 7 episodes and none new ones so yeah.. xD lol

  • @HorseFever596 more like monty roberts! xD

  • did somebody check her hind left leg afterwards? after she ran into the gate her leg clearly hurt and she limped with it. and the trailer is too small, even a horse who usually is kind and easy to load, would refuse to go in there. she couldn't probably even keep her head up properly. get a bigger trailer and a firm hand to lead her in, and she'd probably go in without any problems.

  • i wouldnt go towards you if you were facing me and pulling on me like that either.

  • Notice how after the horse runs into the gate (which btw, should be out of the fucking way) the horse is limping with it's hind left leg ? The trailer is too tiny for the horse too. Some people really shouldn't deal with horses. This is how perfectly fine horses, become problem ones, poor handling.

  • ok for one y was the gate in the back swinging it should have been tied up or proped out and another thing the trailer is really SMALL for that horse

  • Way to small trailer! That is the reason why she won't go in. That is not acceptable .

  • omg ;o

    Are you sick?

Thats really not the way to load a horse!!!

  • Pulling on the horse while he's spooking away is only going to make things worse. Let go. Give him some time to regroup and show him its ok. Slow down.

  • A better way to get a horse in the trailer would be to stand beside the trailer, point your horse in the right direction, and encourage him or her with a whip. If your horse rears up walk around a b it and let him calm down. Only go into the trailer if you have a quic k way to exit and the horse is okay loading

  • you really wouldn't want to be in the trailer while getting a horse in.

  • she is blates scared of the trailer

  • i'm sorry, but that's not the correct way to load. it's very dangerous for the human. she could have easily trampled over him.

she should have been walked around a bit, and been able to calm down, and then calm coaxed in. you never teach a horse with fear.

  • everyone stop being such keybord warriors and know it alls, you dont know the horse nor the person AT ALL so dont go judging them after seeinf 24 seconds of footage, personally thats not how i would load a horse BUT if thats how they do it then let it be.

  • "she had to be taken away because of a disease called: Founders ans we weren't with her alot so we couldn't take care of her"

Wow. At least you are sort of admitting it is all your fault this horse foundered - why have a horse and then neglect it to the point where it is LAME AND ILL. That comment in your description is the truly disturbing part of this whole thing.

I just rescued a horse that was also neglected and foundered, after 1 month his recovery is amazing and it took -BASIC CARE-.

  • some people have no idea

  • this is a shit way to load a horse cant u see its scared o wait u cant cause ur blind btw get a horse box this is a sheep trailer

  • anyways about the vid, try using a buttrope maybe? cause when she ran into the panel she got a little freaky with the noise, and since she also tries to rear when you pull on her, for safety of her try on a head bumper or a shipping halter! shes a nice looking mare though! shes got perfect socks/anklet markings!

  • so stressful on the horse. you can see the fear in him/her. please, sir, learn to love your horse. you are it's leader and no matter what, it depends on you.

    so immature.. people these days...

  • you are not supposed to drag the horse in to the trailer...

  • i dont think she was actually scared of the trailer, i think s just wanted food.her rearing and reacting was in respone to the man trying to use brute force to pull her in by the halter on her face and i cant say i blame her.just a suggestion, u could have gotten a bucket of grain or something and used that to walk her in, while making sure she had a steady walk in the trailer and a chance to lok at it, instead of having her turn 90 degrees and then bam, someone on her face and a metal thing.

  • Oh you got to be kidding yourself- beautiful horse going to waist there

  • you cant let her/him take advantage like that she seems hateful so you have to get on to her.

  • @crazyformisty123 ...okay, please, /please/ shut up.

  • @beautifulpassion and why i shut up when u are the only person to disagree with the comments

  • @crazyformisty123 You are honestly too fucking stupid to realize how inane what you said just was? Shut. Up. Moron.

  • @beautifulpassion please dont call me "fucking stupid" because i am not and all i said is that the horse needs some respect and so do u. dont make something small into a big deal its my comment and if u dont like it then leave it alone. its that simple

  • @crazyformisty123 You're fucking stupid. Please never own a horse- you'll ruin every one you touch. It's a public forum. If you don't like it, don't post. It's that simple.

  • @beautifulpassion i own 2 horses and one is a reined cow horse and the other i trained myself she is my western fun show horse. i dont get what your problem is! what did i do to you? and dont talk about my horses cause they are my life and world and they are BOTH very trained and broke!

  • @crazyformisty123 Yeah, I doubt you could train a pig to dig in mud. You don't even know the proper terminology, so if I were you, I'd shut up before you make yourself look like a bigger idiot. I'm glad someone who knows what they were doing made sure your spoiled, stupid ass got two well trained and broken horses. I'm sorry those horses have to be owned by a power-hungry, abusive dick-turd who thinks she has to 'teach them some respects!!!!1111elevn!' and thinks training them is sitting in the

  • @crazyformisty123 saddle.

  • @crazyformisty123 Haha, point proven.

  • Gosh people, I wouldn't say this is the worst way to load a horse into a trailer. They could have been beating her and trying to force her with fear and pain. I don't think this is the best way, I believe there are better ways, and I certainly wouldn't do this with that horse, I would approach it differently. But at least they weren't beating her and trying to drag her and force her in. People will do horrible things to force a horse into a trailer.

  • Don't load the horse. Teach the horse to load itself.

  • well do you blame it if ir you're trying to get it in a trailer it probably can't even fit in?

  • Well horses are claustrophobic, so it's normal she doesn't want to go in. What I do with my horse is I make my idea become his idea. When I want to load him now I just point the trailer and he gets in.

really sorry for you loss by the way :( <3

  • @AdorkableLex well that does suck! the horse that i did buy had been caught in barbed wire and i never knew until she lost her coat from rain rot. and she was about 250 pounds undre weight or more. i pretty much rescued her. she was with another horse wen i went to see her. and the ppl were only feeding one flake 4 the two to share!!!

  • Watch the video "Monty Roberts Horse Trailer Loading" and try that next time,it really works!Nice horse!:)

  • @AdorkableLex no way! i ended up buying a 16 yr old arabian/tb cross... it was a really bad idea... cus i found out a bunch of bad things about her past and shes actually 22!!!!!!!

  • @AdorkableLex I was just replying to her question. But, I found it strange that she was just insulting be and then asked that question.

  • i went to buy a horse, and she did that for 4 hours straight!

  • @CowboyChaser121 Ha! That's crazy!

  • is her leg ok?

  • @oxoxerikaoxox123 Somebody else already asked that question. Here was my answer: This video was taken over a year and a half ago and I haven't seen her since this video was taken. So, I don't know but I imagine she's doing well.

Also, I thought you were just insulting me?

  • If you guys would actually read the description, you would realize that your wasting your time posting hateful comments.

  • *wtf and have yew ever heard of text talk lmao...

  • @oxoxerikaoxox123 Yep. You are an idiot. I agree with Photo.

  • Comment removed

  • @oxoxerikaoxox123 You call me a retard with that spelling?

  • The number of poor horses of this world that have to endure ignorance and stupidity like this is just astounding! And no you don't use a breach rope, idiot! Horses are naturally claustrophobic>>

  • ...putting more pressure on it and making it feel like it has even fewer options is just as retarded as trying to drag it into a tiny stock crate! God, don't you people ever think about what the horse IS! It's a PRAY animal, we're PREDATORS, we have to earn their trust. A horse will go through fire for you if it trusts you, you don't earn a prey animals trust by trapping it with ropes and forcing it to do shit all of it's natural insticts tell it not to!

  • I think thats the worst way to get a horse to go in a trailer. Ever.

  • @PhotoCocoa96 LOL, so that makes it untrue? Just because it somehow worked doesn't change the fact that this is pure asshatery.

  • @PhotoCocoa96 But what good things did she learn from it?

  • @PhotoCocoa96 Just because you managed to get the horse on the trailer does not mean that you went about it in a correct manner.

  • @PhotoCocoa96 I'm sorry, but isn't that trailer a little bit to low for the horse? he can't put his head in there i think. I wouldnt get in there if i was the horse.

  • Some people can NOTHING about horses, but they think it's sooo easy..
