As much as I liked almost everything mentioned there about mixing culture with Islam, aligning yourself with "Tahrir" party made you lose your credibility, and makes me wonder, aren't you again allowing yourselves to be used by others to achieve political gains? I am against radical secularism, but we have seen two models of Islamic states Sunni Saudi Arabia and Shia Iran, and both are the MOST oppressive to women. I agree that both do not represent Islam, but who does? Same with secular states!

Islamic demagoguery.

No one can speak of freedom basis on "sacred" books when the Koran itself instructs how to beat women. Saying that women need to be protected is a return to the paternalistic discourse that Western societies experienced during the decade of 1950- 1960.

Please... upgrade your paternalistic speach who show a cultural lag that for the last several decades has been overcome in the most advanced and developed societies (Sweden)

@rubina042 i could not disagree with you more. Verbal or physical encouragement, and only that, is an invitation to fulfill one's sexual desires. Dressing as one wishes is not an invitation whatsoever, but simply dressing as one wishes. The "invitation" thought you verbalize is a very dangerous ideology inviting violence against women.

As soon as I stop hearing stories by the hundreds (all true by the way) of women being murdered by their own families for leaving the faith, not wearing proper attire in public, or simply being seen unchaperoned with a man, I'll start giving Islam credit for liberating women. Until then, what you all have is Barbarism. It would be laughable if so many weren't being killed silently in your countries everyday because of it. The West is not perfect, but it is clearly superior.
