I have to agree with others it was a good game (not on par to the orignal but come on the bar was set VERY HIGH) at least it kept the different choices and endings (unlike HR) I didnt hate any of the squeals just some major flaws
To be honest what i liked about this game was that It really expanded well on the story of the original Deus Ex Although i agree gameplay wise it wasn't as awsome as the first. For me it was somewhat better then human revolution. That game to a certain extent was a dissapointment.
invisible was judged pretty harshly, it is a great game, it just doesn't live up to the original. Neither does human revolution come to think of it, still a good game though.
hay i do not se why all the peple hate this game it was good fair enough it was the worst of the deus ex's but it was still a realy good game it had graphics better than any xbox game at the time for about 3 months
aah, yet another game fucked over by being ok but not meeting expectations, like duke nukem, I hope duke can make a third game that is good like deus ex.
@MrNicktheparakeet You know what the saddest thing is about the new Duke game? It's actually the eighth in the series. Duke 1, 2, 3D, Zero Hour/Time To Kill, Land of the Babes, Manhattan Project, Forever...
@AxelXGabriel The reason it is considered bad is because it was nowhere near as good in any respect as its predecessor. Everything was simplified, the story was interesting but predictable and a bit shallow, a lot of things felt very rushed or way to tedious. It was a better game than say, Portal (which is a half assed attempt at being System Shock) but it was nothing compared to what you would expect of Deus Ex.
The vocals in this song are amazing. 0:44 - 1:09 is breathtakingly beautiful.
Interestingly enough, I actually prefer this to the Deus Ex: Human Revolution theme song, 'Icarus'. This just seems more hauntingly epic, and could imagine this being used in a movie.
And, sure, DX:IW sucked compared to the first, but, on its own, it really wasn't such a bad game. At the very least, the story and music were good. The gameplay was average, but not terrible.
I think people bash this game too much. True it's not as good as the first, but that's a hell of a standard to hold a game to. If, say, a guy scores three goals in a football a match and another guy scores one, that doesn't mean that the second guy sucks. He's still good, just not as good as the first.
@GriffinPilgrim That's the thing though. There's a precedence. The bar has been set, and we want it to be exceded yet again. Nothing is as disappointing as a mediocre or bad sequel to one of the greatest things ever, and I think that's why it's being bashed.
@biowon Sure, I get that. One should try to better oneself and people saying "This game does not live up the the previous one" or the like is fair enough. It's ust the people constantly saying "This game sucks" that bothers me, because it really doesn't. It's a great game, just not as great as it could have been. There are far worse games that get less crap *coughHalocough*
@erazor96 Never said it was a bad game. I wish it was a bad game, that at least might make it funny. As it is it's a totally generic game. It's a package-packed FPS with a cliche and predictable back story and paper thin characters. It's like every other FPS out there. It's boring. That said, I acknowledge that this is just my opinion. You wanna like Halo, fine, more power to you. I'm just sick of it being trumpeted as revolutionary when it is so cookie-cutter.
@GriffinPilgrim games nowadays are caught up in too much shit to give a good expierience to the long time gamer, with casual in mind crap with over simplification to "look at this its so violent" pish the big titles of old become kiddies press A to hide sniper rifle.
@JupitersCock97 In some cases, yes, but that's not always the case and certainly not in the case of this game. While missing some details of the original it was still an engaging, complex games with multiple paths and an interesting, entertaining story. And there are plenty more out there, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Total War etc.
@GriffinPilgrim hey bud i agree but recently have felt games just havent moved along much -with deus ex i thought games would adhere and move on giving freedom from linear games and cotinue along its path
@GriffinPilgrim I only wish I felt the same about HR as the others = i just think im getting too old or too alienated from this shit to appreciate it like the first.
@JupitersCock97 There are still many games that give freedom to a lesser or greater degree. Bethesda is famous for it's wide open sandbox approach and Bioware is doing the Mass Effect and Dragon Age series that, while sometimes linear, allows the player to choose their actions and change their environment as a result. It's just some people prefer to just follow the rails and shoot shit. Swings and roundabouts. As for HR, I haven't played it yet, so can't comment. I'll get there, but Skyrim...
While IW certainly wasn't as good as the first, the story really is fantastic. There's so many factions to work for, and so many important choices to make. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that you couldn't have invisiblilty and hacking. ;)
Deus Ex Human Revolution was a fantastic game, but compared to Deus Ex it was a fail imo. I expected it to be much better. The story line sucked. The villains, we got to know very little about. Nobody mentioned the illuminati untill the very last level. It really wasnt upto it. Imo Invisible War was much better than Human Revolution.
I think DX: IW is a great game in its own right, much better than most first person games. Put together 10 random FPSs, you still won't get the same amount of story from them. The characters are more interesting too. The gameplay is also deeper and offers you more choices. And it has Kidneythieves songs, plus Free is the voice of NG.
That said, it's not a great Deus Ex game, good but definitely not great. I think all this hatred is unfair.
@florianfan2008 never said it was challenging, both were easy, but i thought that invisible war was waaaaaaaaaaaaay easier, to the point of insulting.
@welctoj So it's just crying about playstyles you don't like, then? For a minute there I thought you were talking about facts when you said IW had no regenerating health.
@capturethelife I've played through the 1st one 3 times, all in different ways, but still don't get why people worship that game SO fucking much. And it's one of my favorite games btw.
@Daedalus2121 What you said. Bad game play (horrible HUD) but epic story like all the Deus Ex games. Nothing beats DX1 though imo. I whistle the theme all the time at work and everyone asks what song it is :p
Honestly I thought the ethical questions of government and augmentation in DXII were a natural extension past the first game, and in many ways explored more deeply. The gameplay itself just sucks balls in the sequel.
@SzFeri82 You should, everyone has different opinions, that's what makes us unique. Don't let the negativity of others influence your decision to play this game. I played it back in 05' and it was good. Deus Ex just set the bar way too way for Invisible War.
Listening to this gets me pumped up for what Invisible War COULD have been. Can we all stop for a moment and try to picture that? A truly worthy sequel to the first game. Maybe one day Eidos can make a sequel to DX1 that replaces Invisible War.
WHY THE HELL COULDN'T MICROSOFT MAKE THIS GAME BACKWARDS-COMPATIBLE WITH THE 360!? Have you ever tried playing a game with the regular 360 controller again after playing PS2 PS3 and 360 for a good amount of time. It feels awkward now.
What dissapointed me most in Deus Ex 2 was that i always suspected that Hologram of the singer chick to be a spying device of some shadow organisation.
I mean, i fed her with all my information and she was always asking for more and more...
But they never explained that. Was very dissapointing for me.
And JC looked like an idiot in that game. And it was just too easy to get all augmentation upgrades. And it was too short. And they cut out the manual style hacking parts. and, and, and...
Biggest problem with IW in my opinion was how tiny the maps were. Liberty island was split into three or four parts for IW, DX had huge maps by comparison and that's where a lot of the gameplay fun came from. Exploring and adapting your own route through the level was simply better because of the extra room.
I suppose if I had one other complaint it would be that the writing wasn't quite as strong, a lot of the time when I was faced with a choice to make I didn't really like any of my options.
@RichyXYZ123 i think it depends on what you expect, i found invisible war less immersive, but it didnt make me sit down and lose hours of my life so it evend itself out
@LordxHasta I enjoyed it, it is a good game, it just gets a lot of shit because Deus Ex 1 was so amazing. There's a lot of things they screwed up by comparison, but it's still a good game. Just nowhere near the first part.
@LordxHasta The second game is definitely good. I did it backwards, played the sequel first. I thought it was an amazing game. Yeah, it has a small plot problem or two, and the load times are a bit long, whatever. But having played through some of the first one, I see why the second one gets a bad rep. The first one was just too good.
@LordxHasta You're going to hear a lot of people say "No" but I will say "yes." Is it as amazing as the original? No, and it really cuts down the RPG elements - but if you accept the downgrades, it is immersive and has a lot of exploration. It just simply doesn't live up in story or the complexity of gameplay that made #1 so perfect. It is worth giving a chance though, and so far HR is as well!
@LordxHasta You probably played it by now but yeah, it's a rainy day, all your other games are nowhere to be found kind of game. Playing it right now and if I didn't like the deus ex universe that much, I would have stopped after the first 5 minutes.
I remember "holy shitting" a lot at the graphics when this was first released. Was in the Uk at the time. Had to special-order this from the US. I've probably spent an accumulated 1000+ hours in just Deux Ex + Deux Ex ...
Actualy,I played Invisible war BEFORE I played the original Deus ex...I must say, this game is Great, and was done Very good...it's simply that it kinda did not add anything special to the old Deus ex...if you play this game first, you will see that actualy it's realy good!,it's simply that it did not manage to reach the level of the old one...Still,deus ex is one of the most,if not the most, awsome thing out there, now we just have to hope that the Next one will be as good as the first or better!
All the people thinking Invisible War is a bad game are completely wrong! Invisible War is a fantastic game..the real problem is that the first Deus Ex set a bar too high for all the others game! But looking to the whole kind of game, IA is above that one of the best games ever made
@DaedalusSimosDeity I think it fell short of the mark, especially in the endings. You just didn't have the feel of a conspiracy or any true story development like you had in the Deus Ex. Perhaps it's my perception alone, but I found Invisible Way way too short of a game without the plot twists of the original.
I'm sorry, is everyone insane? Does no one remember that this game featured the WORST universal ammo system ever that completely ruined this game? This game was so broken that it may as well have been a fan-made beta. Even on it's own, without having to stand up to its older brother, this game is suck made manifest.
This is the first game with true morality choices and the better part is there is no clear distinction between good and evil its just a bunch of shades of grey
The original game's cover art was JC Denton looking up at the sky on a dark night; all that there is in this dystopic world he lives in. He is alone and thoughtful; he is confused and unknowing of the future of his world and has no grasp on it's history because of the lies - he is stuck in the moment, fighting whatever comes his way.
Then there is the second one: Some guy with a handgun and a futristic car in the background.
@CiaranFallon Well, the same can be said for the first box art, we have no clue who JC was until we played, and we don't know nothing about the world until we start playing, so more or less, it would be this.
The original game: Some guy looking up at a light and helicopters flying in a city
Then the second one: Some guy with a handgun and a futristic car in the background.
Dont get me wrong, the first is an amazing piece of work, and the second is great but can't beat the values of the first
@CiaranFallon well said dude. that cover is mad corny. the guys who worked on 2 just didn't get it. now human revolution on the other hand i am really enjoying so far.
This game is better than people give it credit for, i mean people only call it "rubbish" because its the sequal to probably one of the best if not the best FPS ever, this one is still good, just people were probably expecting something on par with the first or even better than the first. I still love both games =P and cant wait for human revolution, will we see a modern Deus ex that comes on par with the first? We will find out...
Damn DX:IW! It was allmost as fun and interesting as the first (wich is saying quite a lot), but it has so many bugs I can't play it! It crashes constantly and somedays it won't start at all! Designer should be limited to making a good OR a buggy game!
I haven´t played the whole game but I have to say it´s realy good. Better then most games today. But it still can´t reach the first one though... For me it´s because some of the characters in it just don´t seem believable. Deus Ex was just full of awesome characters that held the story together and made it very enjoyable, while the second one seems to lack that a bit imo...but gameplaywise it´s still great.
@101HipHop101 One character-Navarre!I really liked this character so much that I made her the partner of my personally created character Colonel Jean-Marie Lirelou in my fanfics!
I have to agree with others it was a good game (not on par to the orignal but come on the bar was set VERY HIGH) at least it kept the different choices and endings (unlike HR) I didnt hate any of the squeals just some major flaws

i love the part when the woman sings 0.46 great album the first soundtrack one is my favorite.

I liked the plot, and the music. But the game was kinda bad, And some of the art was just awful even for its time.
But I think its still worth playing just for the plot.

CiaranFallon, it isn't just "some guy", if you played IW, you would know.
vlaulz 7 months ago
invisible war is indeed a great game but the original Deus Ex set a bar so high that no sequel can even hope to overcome.
otafuku 7 months ago
Biggest problem with IW in my opinion was how tiny the maps were. Liberty island was split into three or four parts for IW, DX had huge maps by comparison and that's where a lot of the gameplay fun came from. Exploring and adapting your own route through the level was simply better because of the extra room.
I suppose if I had one other complaint it would be that the writing wasn't quite as strong, a lot of the time when I was faced with a choice to make I didn't really like any of my options.

@LordxHasta to me the first one was one of the best games ive ever played but the second was just alright

@RichyXYZ123 i think it depends on what you expect, i found invisible war less immersive, but it didnt make me sit down and lose hours of my life so it evend itself out
mcsquizy 6 months ago
@RichyXYZ123 yeah, agreed... idk why people are hating Invisible wars... it wasnt the best game ever, but i still enjoyed it... ^^
eonvee375 4 months ago
@LordxHasta I enjoyed it, it is a good game, it just gets a lot of shit because Deus Ex 1 was so amazing. There's a lot of things they screwed up by comparison, but it's still a good game. Just nowhere near the first part.
Altairograph 8 months ago
@LordxHasta The second game is definitely good. I did it backwards, played the sequel first. I thought it was an amazing game. Yeah, it has a small plot problem or two, and the load times are a bit long, whatever. But having played through some of the first one, I see why the second one gets a bad rep. The first one was just too good.

XRAYZAKKONTATIK 7 months ago 3
@LordxHasta You're going to hear a lot of people say "No" but I will say "yes." Is it as amazing as the original? No, and it really cuts down the RPG elements - but if you accept the downgrades, it is immersive and has a lot of exploration. It just simply doesn't live up in story or the complexity of gameplay that made #1 so perfect. It is worth giving a chance though, and so far HR is as well!
harsawa 6 months ago
@LordxHasta I liked it for the atmosphere and the story was quirky and good. Your choices matter more in this one than in the other two.
Honkyrappa 5 months ago
@LordxHasta You probably played it by now but yeah, it's a rainy day, all your other games are nowhere to be found kind of game. Playing it right now and if I didn't like the deus ex universe that much, I would have stopped after the first 5 minutes.

I remember "holy shitting" a lot at the graphics when this was first released. Was in the Uk at the time. Had to special-order this from the US. I've probably spent an accumulated 1000+ hours in just Deux Ex + Deux Ex ...

This soundtrack is awesome but was sadly probably one of the highlights of this disappointing sequel. Hey, no. 3 looks fantastic.

It's just too damn bad that this game never lived up to be the game that the original was.

But looking to the whole kind of game, IA is above that one of the best games ever made
DaedalusSimosDeity 10 months ago 71
@DaedalusSimosDeity ok..so DX:IW isn't bad?tell me how so?
I hated this game for following reasons -
1. Universal ammo (just WTF?!)
2. Hideous weapons which looks like glowing toys
3. Cant type codes
4. More than enough aug canisters which reduces game excitement.
5. Aug canisters and upgrade canisters are same with name Biomod(just_cant_accept)
6. Corpes which feels like rubber toys when i shoot them with bullets and explosives.
7. JC looks ridiculous and i was like OoO i am gonna see JC !!

@DaedalusSimosDeity OPINIONS! but i agree.

@DaedalusSimosDeity
Totally agree! Invisible War is still aweosme game and i enyoed it as much as original. Same with Human Revolution.
Amazing series!
Sssagaman 6 months ago
@DaedalusSimosDeity I think it fell short of the mark, especially in the endings. You just didn't have the feel of a conspiracy or any true story development like you had in the Deus Ex. Perhaps it's my perception alone, but I found Invisible Way way too short of a game without the plot twists of the original.
malabou75 4 months ago
I'm sorry, is everyone insane? Does no one remember that this game featured the WORST universal ammo system ever that completely ruined this game? This game was so broken that it may as well have been a fan-made beta. Even on it's own, without having to stand up to its older brother, this game is suck made manifest.

This is the first game with true morality choices and the better part is there is no clear distinction between good and evil its just a bunch of shades of grey

Just look at this cover art..
Deus Ex: Best game I have ever played.

@CiaranFallon or it was just something cool the box artist came up with.
SharrkyX 8 months ago
@CiaranFallon Well, the same can be said for the first box art, we have no clue who JC was until we played, and we don't know nothing about the world until we start playing, so more or less, it would be this.
The original game: Some guy looking up at a light and helicopters flying in a city
Then the second one: Some guy with a handgun and a futristic car in the background.
Dont get me wrong, the first is an amazing piece of work, and the second is great but can't beat the values of the first

Tongarious 1 year ago
Damn DX:IW! It was allmost as fun and interesting as the first (wich is saying quite a lot), but it has so many bugs I can't play it! It crashes constantly and somedays it won't start at all! Designer should be limited to making a good OR a buggy game!
lulle103 1 year ago
Don't get me wrong, IW was a rubbish Deus Ex game, but on it's own it's still better than 90% of the games out today.
dangerousjord 1 year ago
The original theme is so much better. This hasn't got any distinguishable melody and seems to be a mish mash of ambient sounds.
