For any misconception that jet is the a F/A-18F from VFA-11 Red Rippers. We(VFA-105) had the F/A-18Es(no more Legacies), only ones left in that air wing with Legacies is VFA-37.

Its VFA-11, the Red Rippers, USNavy squadron. ALL Marine squadrons have the M designation (ie VMFA-314, VMA-311) in their squadron letters. V=fixed wing, M=USMC, F=fighter, A=attack.

Description says "Gunslingers," I'm not sure, but I think thats a Marine's Squadron, I'm not sure. But I do know it is not the Red Rippers.

I do not know if it is a Marine squadron, that is a F-18 E/F, you can see the dog tooth wing and the third pylon on the wing.

The "Gunslingers" still fly the legacy hornet.

The only F-18E/F squadrons I know of that use dark colored CAG tails are the Rippers, Royal Maces, and the Swordsmen.

carrier landing is cool, tho I remember seeing a pic on google where a f18 hit the cable but the cable was lose and he went off the side of the deck hanging on the wire still. SO pretty much he was a ordanment forthe carrier

unstressed landing... in war time these planes would land in intervalls of 5 minutes the race of the deck hoping that the arrest cables stop them

more like intervals of 15-17 seconds. A good deck crew gets it done. A bad deck crew makes a Hornet have to wave-off for a foul deck when it was already below minimum divert (BINGO) fuel on approach

'arrested' here means that there are wires laid out on the carriers deck and the plane catches them. cheers
