  • Yeah" that sounds like some good stuff on that preamp, and especially for the price!.For only $600 I think its a steel! Iron Maiden" KILLER!!! Keep the good Rock"n".

  • sounds great man!Sounds like ENGL copped the tone of my Rocktron Pirahna.I am hearing some great burnished tones smoldering underneath them notes.Have you owned any other preamps? how do you think they compare to this 530 you have?good to hear the UFO etc.. thought i was the only who still enjoys that stuff".i have played an invader head (OMG!) looks like marshalls long stand has just ended! ENGL, the new KING!? keep Rock"n!

  • @dewycatt2112

IMO it´s one of the best preamps available. Small power pack that includes all you need (great sound, stereo, loop, small power amp - good enough to drive 2 4x12 cabs in stereo, awesome clean and the ENGL sound in the lead channel, 2 EQs for clean+lead channel all in rock solid metal 1H 19 rack housing).

Paired with a good power amp it´s sound heaven. It´s a bargain compared to other preamps.

    Cheers,

    Robin :o)

  • good god man do i want a Engl E530 or what - drool!

  • very nice - holy crap!!! i was playing this so wrong!!! any chance you were using something from Revalver Mark III demo??? I heard that noise :)

awesome man thanks for this video really really nice

  • @MrBIOSkunk

Thx a lot. Yeah I used the Revalver demo, shame on me ;)

Now I am using keFIR and ENGL e530.

    Robin :o)

  • Some real blasts from the past... love it, great tone too!!

  • @MrSpecky666

    Thx alot for your comment.

    All the best,

    Robin :o)

  • Great Rock and great sound in this video!!!

    I make you my compliments!

    Wolfeiran.

  • Thx a lot for your comment.

    Robin :o)

  • Really great songs and great to hear them :)

    Well played :)

Is that ENGL e530 a high gain amp?

i don´t know much about them.

  • Thank you.

The ENGL e530 is a high gain preamp that uses two tubes only (building 4 gain stages). It has a clean and a lead channel, both can be switched to higher gain(adding 1 gain stage).

    Robin :o)

  • It has been a long time since I've seen a video that goes back to basics. Far too many wanna be lead players making video's, yet they can't play rhythm to save their lives. The hook of a song everyone remembers is the fricken rhythm, not the solo.

  • Thank you very much for your comment, greatly appreciated.

    Robin :o)

  • power chords arent they?

  • R u using seymouR duncan pickups?

  • Seymour Duncan SH1B ncover 2C in bridge position, stock Gibson in neck position.

    I use a Seymour Duncan 59 (built 1980) in my Hoyer Flying V and a Gibson 57 in my black/white Flying V.

    Robin :o)

  • Dude, you nailed the Scorps tone! Nicely done!

  • @Prayfordarkness check my rock you like a hurricane cover

  • I love this tone!

  • hey what you're doin' at the beginning of transylvania?

  • dude that v sounds great!

btw.: the scorpions are from my fuckin' home country!

  • awesome tone!

  • hey man, like what ur doin here, watch the rhythm on 'ain't talkin bout love' tho, all the same, really nice, love the tone aswell

  • Awesome tone man.

  • Thank you, HeatMaster22

    Robin :o)

  • Hi Stauros, thx

it´s a Gibson Flying V FactorX built in 2005(early), bridge pickup is a SD 59.

    Robin :o)

  • some great riffage....just bought me an epi white/black V on ebay. Time to go back and learn my favorite metal riffs.

  • dude thanks for showing me "rock you like a hurricane" cuz i wanted to know how to play it cuz im a fellow rythym guitarist so now i how to play it, thanks man.

  • whats that song he played first with the power cords???

  • Rock You Like a Hurricane by Scorpions. It says so on the video too.

  • i want to knw how good is flying v for tone. i got a gibson les paul 2007 standard and i want a back up to it. i want smethinbg thts unbeatable- gibson tho and has that amzing les paul tone...wat should i go for?

  • Get the V, half the price of the Les Paul and it was good enough for Michael Schenker to put his Les Paul aside.

Your Les Paul sounds amazing, so you can´t do anything wrong by getting a V as your back up guitar.

    Robin :o)

  • killer amp/guiatr

  • Wow, nice playing, awesome tone, and on top of that, beautiful guitar! I´m so jealous lol. I love flying V´s so much and im saving for one, but i dunno whcih one to chose: a dean razorback or a gibson flying v, some may bullshit cuz comparing dean with gibson, but the razorbacks looks so damn good, so the gibsons :( someone help!

  • If you wanna go hardcore in Metal, get a razorback, if you wanna do some heavy from the 80's and Hard rock, then a Flying V will do it.

  • sahpe doesn't define tone dude(above me)

you could play freebird on a razorback v if you wanted

you just have to decide which shape you like better

  • You won't surely play Blackened or Tornado of souls on a Fender Stratocaster lolz

  • theres a video of a live concert where kirk plays heavy ass stuff on a strat

  • It is an ESP, you really know about Kirk, don't you lol

Kirk only has one Strat and it's a red one

  • he has other strat copys, that are made by esp like the baby blue one used in the video for one and i disapear. a red one used in live shit for the song the thing that should not be.

  • and they are strat copies but strats nonetheless

single same shape, single coils, similar neck, etc.

  • very true, but i do know he did use a fender strat for a while before metallica, maybe during his exodus days.

  • ya i think ive heard of that

  • I know someone who thinks strats are for the "gnarly" metal stuff. He got hit in the head a while back by some dudes who wanted his beer. He can't say certain things so his opinon sucks. He's a jimi hendrix fan which explains strats and marshall amps.

  • pretty nice tune's but i don't like V's cause there hard to play sitting down

  • Yeah, that's what I call old school riffing, long live flying V's and power chords! You Rock!

  • what EQ settings u got on hurricane ? fucking amazing tone

  • Thx alot.

    ENGL setting(clock)

gain 3,bass 5, low mid 2, hi mid 2, treble 11, higain on, contour on

Revalver Soldano cab used on recording.

  • Should i get the the V or explorer(I play Thrash).

  • Whatever you like better. Both great guitars, I always liked the Explorer but I like the V sound more. Explorer has some more treble and the V has more midrange.

    Robin :o)

  • explorers are bitch to play sitting down sometimes, if you hunch over your guitar (like i do) the little bit of the top digs into your chest.

  • That is not a explorer.thats a Flying V

  • ....i was replying to someone elses comment, i can assure you that if i know how one feels sitting down, im sure i know the difference between the two.

  • Awesome tone. That's the tone I'm looking for right now. I already have a RG and a Strat. I'm going to get a Gibson Flying V with a 57 Classic and a Classic Plus to complete the tonal spectrum. How do vintage style pickups respond to artificial harmonics? Does the guitar nose dive when standing up and is it comfortable sitting and standing? I used to be all about high output pickups but now, I think I need to go quieter.

  • Thx. They respond more natural so to say than high output PUs, more singing than squealing. Mine is not neck heavy at all, but some FlyingVs are, so find a balanced one.

The FlyingV is the most comfortable guitar for me. So you have to use the classical playing position sitting down.

Yeah, let the amp do the distortion inside.

    Robin :o)

  • what gear are you using? it sounds awesome!!

  • Thx, Tate.

Flying V straight into the ENGL e530 into LineIn (Audigy2), Revalver MKIII (speaker simulation).

    Robin :o)

  • Do you know what pickups Rudolph Schenker used by any chance?

  • He prefers the original PAF Gibson pickups. In his beloved black/white 75 V he uses T-Top Gibson pickups(stock Gibson pickups for that time), they were the next gen pickups after the PAFs. The T-Tops have more bite. The Gibson 57 is coming close to the T-Tops(and it´s way cheaper).

    Robin :o)

  • you play guitar to catch girls :D

  • Lol, yeah just that old .... S,D and Rock n Roll thing.

    Robin :o)

  • why you change bridge pickup?

  • Stock Gibson sounded to harsh for this V, the Duncan brought back that old V sound (70 V sound).

    Robin :o)

  • Another good song with almost just powerchords

    is paranoid black sabbath

  • Yeah guitarsncarz, great song. I should come up with a second video so wishes are welcome.

    Robin :o)

  • nice

  • now that's what I call tone... rock on

  • Rock You Like a Hurricanee!

  • wat pick ups are on your gibson mine r different

  • bridge Duncan SH1 59, neck Gibson 496R

    Robin :o)

  • what pick up would you recommend (bridge)

for an ac/dc, zeppelin, gnr, classic rock

type sound? your help is greatly appreciated

    thanks

  • Duncan SH1 59 or the Gibson 57.

SH1 has more bottom end, the 57 is sounding more sweet. They are both low output and singing Pickups like you want to have for that type of sound.

    Robin :o)

  • 2.06 what song is that? wow thats amazing guitar i may get it for my 18th. also does it have nice 22 fret reach?

  • Princess Of The Night - Saxon

Thx, would be a nice birthday goodie. All the best for your 18th.

Fret access is great up to the 22nd.

    Robin :o)

  • awesome thanks for the info dude, yeah my 18th is not for another 10 months lol but i may get the digitech wahmmy pedal, and get this guitar once ive passed my grade 3 on the guitar thanks are the pick ups good for Metallica or Iron Maiden style?

  • You´re welcome Ibik. Stock PUs are great from Hardrock to Metal, a bit on the harsh side. I use a Duncan SH1 59 in the bridge position, but stock PUs are high output and sound good even clean.

    Robin :o)

  • is it hard to reach the first fret when you have the guitar like that???

  • It´s easy to access the complete fretboard holding it that way.

    Robin :o)

  • k....thanx...that doesnt work with a les paul...lol....it hard to reach the first fret because the back of its round....and how thin is the guitars body??

  • Body is 4cm, about 1.6 inches. The neck is angled and the body at the neck joint is flattened so the thickness from the top of the fretboard (at the last fret(22)) is also 4cm.

    Robin :o)

  • you mean the body is about 1.6 inches in thickness? wow..thats nice....hows the weight of the guitar?? and have you EVER (even when you first bought it) got any fret buzz?? thanx for the replys btw!!!!

  • When I bought it, the FlyingV had a nearly perfect setup. I could even bring the strings lower to the fretboard. Low E is about 1.2mm, high e is about 1.0mm. I could even file the nut lower, the frets were perfectly set. If I use a really low string setup (1.0mm to 0.8mm-the Michael Schenker way) there´s a little buzz on the low E string but only with old strings. Weight is under 3kg without the strap and the PU covers.

    Robin :o)

  • ok....with my 98 les paul (epiphone) i have a bad fret buzz....i took it to guitarcenter to get a set up done and it still has a fret buzz!!! what should i do?? iv even tried thicker string AND lighter strings....thanx for all the info to bro....it greatly appriciated man

  • They did a bad job. Maybe it´s just one fret that isn´t set up right, maybe the neck needs a little correction. Take it to a luthier, leveling the frets isn´t a big thing to do.

    Robin :o)

  • THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Nice tone.

  • great metal sound

  • EN VERDAD ES MUY BUENO

  • the scorpions sound is right on bra

  • i dont know much about preamps and powerampsbut how did you get that sound with no poweramp?

  • The preamp makes the sound, the poweramp makes the volume.

By adding a poweramp you just get more punch and power, to bring the sound of the preamp to earbleeding level.

The ENGL e530 is just a separate preamp (with lots of options). I have a poweramp(Peavey60/60) which I use to bring the ENGL to live level (LOUD).

For recording I use a programm(Revalver MKII/MKIII which emulates a cabinet sound. Sometimes I use just a Reverb to get a lively guitar sound(PC).

    Robin :o)

  • thanks.

  • really well played, what a killer tone!!

  • Thx alot, 1983metalhead. The ENGL screams

    Robin :o)

  • do you get that tone from your 57 pickups or the Marshall?

  • I use the Seymour Duncan 59 SH1 pickup. Amp is the ENGL e530 connected to the line in of the PC soundcard. Speaker Simulation is the Revalver MKIII running on the PC.

    cheers mate,

    Robin :o)

  • That is an awesome v dude. i bought one in a worn cherry. They have a sound and tone of their own.

  • Thank you very much nugent408, yeah Flying Vs are awesome guitars.

    Robin :o)

  • Great stuff man, great stuff. I've just started playing guitar and ain't nearly as good as you, but I'm really trying to figure out how you play these songs... it would be helpful if you could send me the tabs or something!

Oh and by the way, awesome guitar!

  • thx Starfalon. I replied the start from Coast to Coast(tabs) a few comments earlier. I play the songs by ear so I didn´t used tabs at all. But maybe I make a how to vid......

    Robin :o)

  • Yeah, cuz' it would've been awesome if I learned how to play Princess of the Night!

  • Another great way to play is from guitar pro.

You can buy it or use "student discount" *winkwink*

  • whats that guitar called?

  • It´s the Gibson Flying V RI 67 in classic white.

    I call it ´the Ice Pick´.

    Rock on brother,

    Robin :o)

  • WOW!!! What a sound... that going straight to my soul.. uuuh!!

  • Big thx, nitelina. All the best, you´ve made my day.(thx for fav.)

    Robin :o)

  • The sound is just incredible! I am choosing between ENGL e530 and Marshall JMP-1 for recording direct. The problem is Marshall is 300 cheaper but ENGL has more sound

  • If you like the Marshall sound you will love the ENGL sound all the way. ENGL is half the price of the Marshall(on the bay Germany).

    Robin :o)

  • would you say the v is better for rhythm or lead playing?

    or equally good with both?

  • in my opinion rhythm. Because it has a great twanginess for rhythm power chords. Thats why Rudolph Schenkeer plays them. But also good for lead guitar aswell, because it gives you easy access to the higher frets obviously.

  • Yeah it´s great for both. Look at the vids with Michael Schenker, pure magic.

    Robin :o)

  • thanks

    and hetfield played one

    obviously :)

  • in my opinion the V is great for both rhythm and lead, not good for seated playing and UNMATCHED for cheesy rock and roll posing ^^

  • wow thats under my favorites, that will help me alot. Thanks, KEEP ON ROCKIN!!!!!

  • Thx alot Grizzass, much appreciated. !ROCK ON!

    Robin :o)

  • porque se cucha ssssssssss de bez en cuando?

  • The noise is caused by the cab simulation (1-2 times during each part).

The strings are causing noise two, I use .10-.56 raw strings (not polished).

If this was your question (my spanish is bad).

    Robin :o)

  • a.m. thanks does not pass any more less or you entendio

  • dude you have a sweet axe and a really good sound!

  • ! Thx wynn224 !

    Robin :o)

  • Hi! sorry for the offtopic question but do you have a lot of skinheads there in Germany?

  • I am a musician not a politician. For myself, I am wearing my hair with proud............long.

Are there political problems in your home country? think about it, we all are far away from paradise, sadly.

    Robin :o)

  • I see you are an axe lover, Coast to Coast is well played. Where you find the tabs? (for Coast to Coast)

  • thx alot VILASpeople. I played it by ear, my fav FlyingV song. I didn´t tab it yet, but it´s fairly simple.

    G:-9-7-77-5-9-7-77-9-<-9999-5555-7777-9999

    D:-9-7-77-5-9-7-77-11<-9999-5555-7777-9999

    G:-11-11-11-11-5555-999-7-9-7-11-9

    D:--9--9--9--9-5555-999-7-9-7--9-9

Maybe I should record the complete song with 3 Vs? --Flying V heaven--

    Robin :o)

  • ey men you play exelent yeahh

  • Many thx, jpw6123.

    \m/ \m/

    Robin :o)

  • love that tone Robin! wish i had a flying V. Great playing aswell :)

  • Sam thx alot, my friend. You and the Flying V would be a great thing.

    Robin :o)

  • SCORPIONS! gotta love them, sorry can you tell me what pickup you have in the bridge? you mentioned it was a seymour duncan, great job!

  • It´s a Seymour Duncan SH-1 59.

    Scorpions did some amazing tracks.

    Robin :o)

  • i play everything from classic rock like led zep to slayer, how good in distortion is this pickup?

  • It´s more a low output PickUp but with a really high gain amp this thing screams.

The stock Gibson 500T is nearly as nice, double output than the Duncan SH-1 59 but for me sometimes a bit on the harsh side(rolled back you can easily get that LedZep sounds out of it) depends on the amp alot.

    Robin :o)

  • i have a 80 watt randall and i already have an esp sv for most of my metal, i dont want a vintage pickup, i want a medium output that is capable of screaming, and since i use a lot of pinch harmonics, i dont think a vintage is what im looking for

  • Nice tone Bro!

  • thx Smokeater68, it´s the V kicking the ENGL´s a**

    ! ROCK ON !

    Robin :o)
