  • Thank you for the great video!

I've got clutch slippage and used your method of testing for slippage on my car.

It's a 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX, it has had the flywheel lightened, and a new clutch installed.

Strangely, it slips at 1/4 power for about 1-2 seconds, and then catches, and at higher torques, it locks no problem. I went from 2nd to 4th and 5th and pressed full throttle, and it locks no problem!

Could someone please watch my video and let me know what's going on?

    Thanks in advance!

  • well I just recently change the clutch for a new one but still spins someone can told me whats going on my car is a Jetta 2003 1.8t

  • what about when your going to shift it accelerates ?

  • hi i put a new clutch in my car as the old 1 was sliping

but the new 1 is also sliping i think it to mutch gearbox oil can that be right

  • @47derry clutches need about a month to break in. by now you shouldn't be having issues.

  • My clutch keep on slipping... into the future

  • @brbn93 lol that had to be the most obscure steve miller reference ever.

  • I forgot to mention it'll also slip when I Have a heavy load behind me and I'm trying to pull out. I don't slip it anymore then I absolutely have to. I don't ride the clutch. Could it really be time to upgrade to above stock? Its not even a year old yet. Its in a 96 Silverado. 4.3 5 speed, extended cab 2WD BTW. Was an automatic (Yes, it can be done without a single issue).

  • Mine only slips when I try and do a 2nd gear burnout. Time for something better then stock!

  • @tillyb1989 Yea thats why.. A few more of those and you won't have a clutch. You car doesn't have enough power to keep the wheels spinning in 2nd

  • @tomkkkkk I don't agree with this method.

When the clutch is down or the shifter in neutral, it doesn't take a lot of throttle to rev to 3k. This means the engine is not making as much torque as it can. A clutch that is beginning to slip may handle that low amount of torque. But it may start to slip when the engine is full throttled at 3k. That's why I would get the car rolling, in gear, drive to around 3 to 4k and full throttle it. That's a more reliable test.

  • when im in first gear nd i accelerate it doesnt move so i accelerate it hard nd then i end up wit a burnout nd the car moving, can someone tell me wats wrong? the car wont move when u apply little gas, is it the clutch? nd do i need new one? thanksss

  • @mmycomputer It depends on the type of clutch, some clutches grab hard, so the easiest way to start out is by revving the engine to like 3,000 rpms, then letting the clutch out.

  • does this apply to a automatic transmission or just a manual?pls respond.thanks

  • @PerezosoChico Automatic transmissions do not have a clutch. If your automatic transmission is slipping check your transmission and torque converter fluid.

  • @PerezosoChico you have clutch packs. check the transmission fluid

  • "Slip" is defined as; an increase in engine speed, without a corresponding increase in road speed.

  • this bloke is like my mechanic mate that i never had..

  • He should really put that cloth down.

  • @PierreReyesMusic he should put it in your mouth

  • @tgamirov

You should stop being a cnut behind a keyboard x

  • I wonder if i would need to adjust my clutch pedal if I install a stage 2 performance clutch

  • When i moved to drive and Reverese and 1 and 2 and all of the shaft the clutch does not move at all. Can you come to my place to repair a slipping clutch of a honda crv 2000?

    Steve

  • lol how about 1st gear doesn't slip, (weak engine btw) and then 2nd/3rd/4th/5th slips past 4k or full throttle. Its a worn clutch for sure, its getting replaced tomorrow with a new master cylinder and slave cylinder (precautionary) but what a pain when driving. Cant even hit the highway right, luckily I got a great suspension and great tires so I can build speed on the off ramp away from traffic and by the time I hit the highway I'm already at 60 or 70 mph and can just jump right in.

  • ok, what would be this problem: i have a new, stick chevy truck. at high speeds i let it coast 4 a while. Then, when i go to give it gas, a split second hesitation and then a horrible "CLUNK" befor i get power again. They are sayin its "normal".........B.S. please help if you have heard of this, thanks.

  • you might have a striped gear or your flywheel is missing a tooth or two. it may also be that your engine is misfiring or your tranny just needs to be replaced.

basically it can be a ton of things but thing I would do is have a mechanic drop the tranny and have a look inside.

It could even be that when you accelerate your truck your differential is shot.

  • @farwest110 If it is drive by wire that explains the lag when you hit the gas because its controlled by an electric motor not a cable. and the clunk is probably the driveline loading back up they have some slack in them and that can cause a clunk
