why does his blade heat up around 5:20 ? i never understood that.

the sword is called a High Frequency blade. it resonates high frequencies and makes the particles of the blade move at extremely fast speeds, making the blade A LOT sharper and lighter to wield. it heats up because when particles move at a high rate, they create energy and that energy creates high temperatures.

Also he is a cyborb so his body is very hot on the inside, causing the h.f blade to heat up :)

Maybe because Hideo Kojima is Japanese, and Japanese love awesome/bad ass/cool/impossible stuff, so i assume... the sword heats up because Raiden, by kicking it, it makes the blade spin so fast that it heats up. Or maybe Calamity's theory lol

There joints are some kind of psuedo-organic coils like Metal Gear Ray, so I guess they "bleed" oil.

the gekkos are cyborgs just like raiden there legs are flesh but there heads are machine. that is why you can shoot the legs with tranq ammo anc cause them to fall

You can tell Raiden is Hideo's fav character. He realized not many people liked him in mgs2 so he had to find a way to make the fans like him just as much as he does. And he succeeded with FLYING FUCKING COLORS!!!!! Gray Fox would be proud! I think people didn't like him because of his girly look and personality, but he did good to give him a more conflicted mind set. He's looks like a crazy anime guy now, but since he has the cyborg ninja outfit on its ok. sry for the long post.
