  • Love this video, the 80s were the best decade ever for music!

  • if only christopher walken was a singer he would be heaven 17.don't u agree?!

  • @chacho6011 Haha yeah, pity he's a bit too old now to play the role of Glenn!

Speaking of movie lookalikes of 80's pop stars, I think Shia LaBeouf would be cool to play Dave Gahan if they ever make a hollywood movie about Depeche Mode.

Now I'm trying to think of others haha...

  • @Jarren202 haha yeah he could dye his hair black, a little bit of makeup. tight pants and a tanktop.oh yeah

  • Their music was always so inspiring and upbeat. Always will love em.

  • Part of me feels sorry for all the bands that had to lip sync their songs for shows such of this...brutal.

  • Two members from this band used to be of The Human League with Philip Oakey that made their first two albums: Reproduction and Travelogue before Philip joined the two girls (now women) and 3 other guys. The two guys i believe are on synths in this video.

  • @chadergeist I also forgot that the red hair guy Adrian in the later lineup was also apart of The Human League on their first two albums too. My bad.

  • @chadergeist Aye mate, they were part of, "The Human League." Their names are, "Martyn Ware" and, "Ian Craig Marsh!"

  • @JonMcElectro I know this info. Thanks anyway.

  • Love it! :)

  • I can't believe they appeared on Solid Gold!

  • I had the luck of meeting the Lead singer and Lead in London some years ago.

Wonderful humble guy's. Amazed and surprised that they were remembered.

A quiet Cafe and them. I had to say hello, and they were cool.

A great day in Notting Hill

  • That Song's on the Album, 'The Luxury Gap' isn't it?

  • @JonMcElectro Yeah it is

  • awsum

  • the host at the beginning, is it Rex Smith ?

  • @MrNafets83 Yup. He was the host for a short time during the second or third season.

  • @MrNafets83 Yes.

  • I'm kind of thinking this is probably one of the most motivational songs EVER!!! Who needs anti-depressants when there's Heaven 17?

  • Heaven 17 with a real drummer - he could at least be using digital drums and bashing away like a poseur with a big quiff. Priceless! Great song guys.

  • The drummer was Andy Anderson who was once a member of the Cure

  • I was aware that it wasn't Mr Brown but thanks anyway. In fact, I think the 'Osbourne' observation is more accurate - maybe I was confusing them. Ironic that musical ambassadors from the Socialist Republic of South Yorkshire could so effortlessy represent Thatcherite sentiments. They were good.

  • what a great post!never seen this.thanks

  • in answer to your question .... who is the drummer ?

    that's linn ;-)

  • one of my favourite tracks EVER!!!!!

  • OFF TO SEE THEM AT THE 80S REWIND FESTIVAL THIS WEEKEND 21-22 AUG 2010 GREAT SOUND LIVE FROM THE ULTIMATE 80S !!

  • Upset that Ian Craig Marsh isn't part of them anymore. He was one of the main Synth Players in the Group, along with Martyn Ware.

  • The boogie man on the keyboards keeps reminding me of Gordon Brown. Great song and thanks for posting it.

  • @MrFrankParsons looks more like George Osbourne to me. Perhaps that's where he and Dave hung out during their Tory boy days at Eton!

  • @MrFrankParsons The Guy on Synths is Martyn Ware and the other is Ian Craig Marsh.

  • Glenn Gregory is the perfect expression of the chilly arrogant sophisticated prototype of the awareness of life in the 80s, coool. great voice too!!

  • great find...hit the floor pronto when this came on..prince of wales check suit, jacket off, silver armbands, braces, silk polo tie, brogue shoes with leather souls, highlights in the hair...watch me dance girls watch me dance!!! they were the days

  • thanks for finding this!

  • This song sounds So Fast as we do in a modern society, which used to hurry a disco-goer like me into schizophrenic dance on the floor in the mid 80s. But it takes me back to such a good prime time of mine and, it is not bad to listen to for me even now at age of 45, even though I can't dance anymore like I would back in the day. Anyway, thanks for posting !

  • Love it, Glenn has one of those smiles that lights up the day. great guy.

  • Checked this out coz wanted to see Glenn Gregory when he had hair !? He looks like Malfoy from Harry Potter Such a cool look

  • Brill miming as usual Glenn!!

  • Is this really Solid Gold?? Where are those silly dancers?

  • great clip and track, used to hav it on video in the early 80s, great to see again. got all their stuff on cd. brilliant.

  • Heaven 17 was really doing something cutting edge with this song

  • CD? Must break out old vinyl album or cassette tape! One of those bads I used to love but have forgotten about. Great to hear this stuff again!

  • you and me both paramanyu ,iv got the album in the loft, its got to come down again.

  • Must dig out old CD...I'm getting old...sounds so much better that most of the dross that passes as music today [and they all look like girls]. Oh drear have become my dad!

  • Wow, Glenn looks so cool and charismatic. I LOVE it! They all have such great style too.

  • @chalklava Too right! Glenn looks gorgeous! fantastic! and so stylish ... men in suits always does it for me anyway! Especially blonde ones!

  • I too love a well dressed man- especially the blonde ones, yes indeed! :)

  • very koooooooooool post';-)

    nuff said';-)

  • Great to see this performed-one of my fav' tracks from the 'Luxury Gap' 2nd to 'Temptation'. Thanks.

  • I suspect the drummer is some American dude, added to the line-up for some presentational effect or other... Seeing that the drum beats are all synth-created, as far as I can tell... :)

  • I think they should have won an award as one of the best dressed groups from the '80s. Come to think of it their clothes are so fresh they could walk down the street in those suits and not look out of place in the least. A true testament to good style!

  • Great song from a superb album.

Interestingly, Glenn Gregory looks truly American here, very slick, like The Guy Who Made It - which is why lots of us secretly hated him while we adored Phil Oakey ;-)

  • Fantastic. Love this song so much. Brings back memories of cycling to work at 4 30 am in Raheny (Dublin) with this on full volume. Got the albums. But great to see it sung live.Thanks.

  • ..wow..what a brilliant find..well done.

  • Merci 1000x pour avoir uploadé cette merveille !

Une de mes préférées d'Heaven 17, l'album LUXURY GAP est une vraie pépite.
