@chacho6011 Haha yeah, pity he's a bit too old now to play the role of Glenn!
Speaking of movie lookalikes of 80's pop stars, I think Shia LaBeouf would be cool to play Dave Gahan if they ever make a hollywood movie about Depeche Mode.
Two members from this band used to be of The Human League with Philip Oakey that made their first two albums: Reproduction and Travelogue before Philip joined the two girls (now women) and 3 other guys. The two guys i believe are on synths in this video.
I was aware that it wasn't Mr Brown but thanks anyway. In fact, I think the 'Osbourne' observation is more accurate - maybe I was confusing them. Ironic that musical ambassadors from the Socialist Republic of South Yorkshire could so effortlessy represent Thatcherite sentiments. They were good.
Boogie man on the keyboards keeps reminding me of Gordon Brown and if they'd re-shot and re-released, they could have had a hit and he'd still be there. Superb song and many thanks for posting it on here.
great find...hit the floor pronto when this came on..prince of wales check suit, jacket off, silver armbands, braces, silk polo tie, brogue shoes with leather souls, highlights in the hair...watch me dance girls watch me dance!!! they were the days
This song sounds So Fast as we do in a modern society, which used to hurry a disco-goer like me into schizophrenic dance on the floor in the mid 80s. But it takes me back to such a good prime time of mine and, it is not bad to listen to for me even now at age of 45, even though I can't dance anymore like I would back in the day. Anyway, thanks for posting !
Must dig out old CD...I'm getting old...sounds so much better that most of the dross that passes as music today [and they all look like girls]. Oh drear have become my dad!
I suspect the drummer is some American dude, added to the line-up for some presentational effect or other... Seeing that the drum beats are all synth-created, as far as I can tell... :)
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Is it me or does Martyn Ware (r/hand synth) look like a drunk yuppie without rhythm making a twat of himself trying to dance??
Btw, I notice the presenter is that actor who used to fight crime riding at 300mph on a superbike... "Street Hawk", anyone? Ludicrous 80s show title but I just saw the intro on U-bend - sorry Youtube - and, strangely, in spite of the cheap gravelly voice-over and the duff crimefighter-on-a-bike premise, I still find it cooool... Huh!?! See CCItnKrXvMM for details... ;)
I think they should have won an award as one of the best dressed groups from the '80s. Come to think of it their clothes are so fresh they could walk down the street in those suits and not look out of place in the least. A true testament to good style!
Interestingly, Glenn Gregory looks truly American here, very slick, like The Guy Who Made It - which is why lots of us secretly hated him while we adored Phil Oakey ;-)
Fantastic. Love this song so much. Brings back memories of cycling to work at 4 30 am in Raheny (Dublin) with this on full volume. Got the albums. But great to see it sung live.Thanks.
Love this video, the 80s were the best decade ever for music!

Part of me feels sorry for all the bands that had to lip sync their songs for shows such of this...brutal.

@chadergeist I also forgot that the red hair guy Adrian in the later lineup was also apart of The Human League on their first two albums too. My bad.

@chadergeist Aye mate, they were part of, "The Human League." Their names are, "Martyn Ware" and, "Ian Craig Marsh!"

I had the luck of meeting the Lead singer and Lead in London some years ago.
Wonderful humble guy's. Amazed and surprised that they were remembered.
A quiet Cafe and them. I had to say hello, and they were cool.
A great day in Notting Hill

I'm kind of thinking this is probably one of the most motivational songs EVER!!! Who needs anti-depressants when there's Heaven 17?
chalklava 1 year ago
Heaven 17 with a real drummer - he could at least be using digital drums and bashing away like a poseur with a big quiff. Priceless! Great song guys.

The drummer was Andy Anderson who was once a member of the Cure

Upset that Ian Craig Marsh isn't part of them anymore. He was one of the main Synth Players in the Group, along with Martyn Ware.

@MrFrankParsons looks more like George Osbourne to me. Perhaps that's where he and Dave hung out during their Tory boy days at Eton!

@MrFrankParsons The Guy on Synths is Martyn Ware and the other is Ian Craig Marsh.
