You do not, as you say, have to feel sorry for him - your choice. But to judge without knowing details about his life or health situation, it's an astounding response to someone who did not choose to suffer. No matter what it looks like, no one chooses that.

I lost a lot of respect for you by saying that you cut a deal to leave the show when its apparent others were better singers then you. Great singers were sent home to give you a chance of a lifetime but this is how you repay the X Factor. They gave you exposure at the expense of losing fan favorites which upset many viewers, but now you use it as a way to continue your 15 minutes of fame.This is sad and I hope X Factor learns from this and just put pure talent through, not just a story.
@ucflove he could have continued to play along with their pop star crap, but i think it was the principle of it that made him ensure he'd get the chance to leave, he hated how the producers were making him into something he wasn't just because they thought it was what people wanted to see. they were interfering with his success. they should stop meddling with matters like that and let the contestants be themselves. as if they couldn't find mainstream rock songs that could have worked for him.
just read that Dexter cut a deal with the producers to leave the show. he probably would have been thrown off by nicole even if he didn't make the deal (considering the competition) but he claims he did it because the producers weren't allowing him to be a rockstar, basically he didn't like that they were giving him pop songs to sing.
Dexter said "[he] communicated only with Scherzinger and didn't talk directly to the producers, including series creator Simon Cowell." I think producers are probably those allowing him to leave, cause it is incredibly hard to have a contestant that can't work with his mentor.
Personally, I think Nicole might be a great artist, but she is too young or inexperience to be a mentor.
She tries very hard, but just not good at it.......such a waste, I LIKE Dexter!

For some weird reason I found myself searching for two performances to watch back this evening, Lakoda Rayne's and Dexter's....now that's a crazy milkshake. I found Dexter to be totally entertaining, but too bad Nicole didn't put a twist on the lyrics like Paula suggested.

Great singers were sent home to give you a chance of a lifetime but this is how you repay the X Factor. They gave you exposure at the expense of losing fan favorites which upset many viewers, but now you use it as a way to continue your 15 minutes of fame.This is sad and I hope X Factor learns from this and just put pure talent through, not just a story.

@ucflove he could have continued to play along with their pop star crap, but i think it was the principle of it that made him ensure he'd get the chance to leave, he hated how the producers were making him into something he wasn't just because they thought it was what people wanted to see. they were interfering with his success. they should stop meddling with matters like that and let the contestants be themselves. as if they couldn't find mainstream rock songs that could have worked for him.

just read that Dexter cut a deal with the producers to leave the show. he probably would have been thrown off by nicole even if he didn't make the deal (considering the competition) but he claims he did it because the producers weren't allowing him to be a rockstar, basically he didn't like that they were giving him pop songs to sing.

Personally, I think Nicole might be a great artist, but she is too young or inexperience to be a mentor.
She tries very hard, but just not good at it.......such a waste, I LIKE Dexter!

The show should not be about lyrics or song choice, it should be more about the performing artist. Dexter Haygood was the best performer/entertainer of the show.
