t-10 may be a lot harder than spring steel, but is a lot more unflexible too. 9260 or 5160 may not have the same sharp cutting edge, but can strike almost everything without serious damage to the blade. yep, my 9260 tenchi chipped a little by the botch cut I made on the ground (it hit a stone), but I have chopped wood as Paul Southern does, chopped wooden profiles made for constructions and without significant damage. Else, you can twist spring steel to beyond 90 degrees without damaging it.
so i just bought a badger blade made of 1075 steel and was out putting it through its paces cutting trees and anything i could find. i found some old used 2x4's and started splitting them, the blade would simply glide through effortlessly. then i set up another piece of wood raised the sword and came down real gentle thinking glide right through, about midway through the blade stopped, ok i said being stubborn eh. the next time i hit with full force, success! then i realized what had stopped the
@xXTheOwnerXx umm i thought i did finish but any ways it turned oit thad i had cut through 2 nails theat i had failed to spot before cutting. DAMN is the first thought that went through my head. so i looked up and down th blade looking for a big nick in the blade, but to my suprise all it had was a little tiny tiny hard to see nick. i have since then taken that nick out with my sharpening stone.
I think that it was both luck and a really strong blade. This was the first time we hit asphalt but we have hit the stand several times with this sword and cut the pins at least twice with no damage to the sword.
The website was not updated. The old batch of swords were coming in 1095 but we switched the new batch to T10. Actually it was funny because I was updating the description when I received your comment. Thank you for checking out the vid!
for sure... if its good enough for kevin, who the hell am i to argue.. thats a hell of a bit of marketing getting him to back you, that man knows his shit.
i wish you had free shipping to canada too :(
i want one of what he just got...
have you seen his video on your tsuka? i was very impressed.
he mentioned the ito is a little loose on the HM-233BK he got, has this maybe been remedied with an update?
I really wish we could do free shipping to Canada as well, but it is just too expensive.
I saw the Tsuka video and was both surprised and grateful he posted it. The loose Ito is being remedied...we have really been trying hard to make sure we don't have tsuka where the kashira comes loose.

Heat treat is what matters. A 1045 with a good temper will outperform a 1060 or 1095 with poor heat treat.
Word up.

the website says the model JH-6101 is the brides sword... it also says its 1095 not T10.
could you clarify the discrepancy ?
impressive gash tho.

Lucky, lucky. Or is that a testament to the superior heat treat? Glad you didn't get any chipping from that.
