julie, sarah, hellooooo la,la,LA. julie, is hydroxy a better form of b-12 than methyl? also i tried out the jarrow brand and liked it. but now i'm thinking i want to step it up a notch and take a b-complex. problem is that i cannot find one with methylcobalamin in it. only walmart brands. could you please recommend one? prefferably a sublingual liquid. and oh yeah, last but not least. YOU GIRLS ROCK. i love how you girls can inspire people to personally advance themselves thru education. i love it
@chupeeze yeah, its tough to find a b complex with methyl form, but just do your best. most b complex has very little b12, so you could always take a b complex and add more methyl b12 if you need it (not sure that you would).i prefer whole food b complex to liquids. which would be new chapter, megafood, etc.. good brands to start with . most liquid b complex are not food form. see my vid on vitmains.. food form vs isolates... thanks!
You guys forgot to mention hydroxycobalamin, also a better source than cyano~. Couple things I disagree with though; 1) sublingual absorption is NOT superior to oral dosing, and 2) there is no upper limit toxicity established for B12, so your recommendation of not exceeding 5k mcg's seems unfounded. Personally I take anywhere from 15k-20k per day of methylcobalamin.
thanks for the feedback, we will look into hydroxy... and from what i have found, the b12 is ulitilized better (assimilation is different from absorption) when going straight thru the salivary glands into the blodd stream. b12, by nature, does not do very well in the stomach environment. but i undrstand and do know there is some mixed research out there. as for the recommendation, we know there is no cap on b12, but we choose not to tell people to take huge doses; a health prof. can. thx!
What is the best person to go to to help me get exactly what vitamins (and the most viable) I should take for me? A homeopath? I am not a vegan (eat fish and sometimes chicken) but am trying to eat as much raw as I can and am transitioning into it more and more as I go. Thanks for your time!
you can get tested by a naturopath. that would be best to test vitamin and mineral levels. they may send you to a blood lab to do the actual test. it depends if they have a lab in their office. you could go to a regualr doctor, but they just might want to do tests and then put you on drugs.. haha :)
I just started b12 injections and came here to learn more about b12 - I am getting a dosage of both meth and the c-word one : ) per injection. I remembered you two did a series on this and wanted to educate myself further more because I trust Julie's advice verse random stuff on the net. I am not sure of my dosage but can find out. All I know is I felt INSTANT energy shortly after the shot and felt SO good about myself and was able to think clearer and make more logical choices. AMEN!!!
sometimes IV injections are like 10,000 Milligrams or more. Enormous amounts, which is why people feel an immediate JOLT from it. some dosages are like a ful bottle or more of the pill form. it is on a whole other scale and cannot be lumped in with regualr supplement doses. especially for people using b12 shots for depression. whole other game :)
okay I felt that jolt and was so full of energy and joy.... i honestly found the jolt within like 1 hour after the shot, is that typical? i mean seriously i was FEELING it and it felt GOOD.. i need that so bad right now... my shot was the basic dosage - i will find out and tell you.
yes, that is typical to feel this jolt about 15 minutes to a few hours later...and it tends to linger with some folks, as the b12 levels are replenished :) people were doing b12 shots here at sarah's mom's last night and i think they were 1,000mg or something. gotta check to see if it was mcg (micrograms) or mg (milligrams) .....glad you are feelin it!
no apologies necessary. B 12 is a vitamin essential to making healthy blood, brain functioning, and healthy nervous system, amongst other things! wikipedia is a great place to start for B12 info, but that should cover the basics. See our next 2 videos in this series for even more info! :) good luck!
many eaters of cheese and animal flesh can get enough B12, as well as very few vegetarians who get it from seaweed, etc... see our next 2 videos after this one as we explain how some folks can get b12 from veggies and others need to supplement. the research shows it is VERY rare to have adequate b12 levels on a strict vegan diet. hope that helps! :)
B12 from plant food has not been shown to prevent B12 deficiency according to Gabriel Cousins book 'Spiritual Nutrition'. I am a raw vegan and I supplement B12 from methylcobalamin. Even many flesh eaters are deficient in B12 so really it is something everyone should consider supplementing. Human active B12 is needed from bacteria. The B12 analogues found in plants cancel out the human active B12.
Hi, thanks for the invite. So I went through this video and I am not a fan of supplements & chemicals. I get my b12 through vegan, raw, natural plant sources. Might you two continue this video or add on as a part 2 and provide viewers with vegan, raw, plant based ways to get b12 that actually digest and convert into the body. I get regular bloodwork with a doctor who monitors my level and they are stable because of my raw b12 sources (especially laver & dulse when I use it, bee products, etc.)
I would really appreciate seeing the types of videos you two will be posting with raw ways to heal and balance nutrition. We are gifted with so many healing roots/plants/herbs. We need to spread this kind of information around as much as possible. I will eventually make more raw videos but for now am focusing on eating disorders/recovery and do raw ones when I can... takes a lot of energy so I'm glad we have you 2 gals here to spread awareness & education. Gratitude! and welcome! XoXO Johnny
thank you so much for the info and questions! you are right on all accounts. your belly must have a great base of probiotics to change the b12 into the absobable form from veggies. not everyone is so blessed! i will address this question on our third video! i, too, am not a fan of supplements unless needed. i only prefer them to pharmaceutical therapies. thank you kindly!
Bee pollen is full of protein, enzymes, B vitamins, immune supporters, and is like a complete food in a little pellett! The dried fruits are raw IF they say raw. Many companies BAKE them at high temps til they are dry. NOT RAW! Look for the raw label or dehydrate them at home at 118 degrees or less. Nut milk is refined, heated, and filled with toxic forms of calcium as well as rice syrup (sugar). thanks for the questions!
i take 5-10k per day :)

@harliette yes, stress relief is a good thing...

@RawHealingPatch what do you do for stress relief or is it jst in a supplement
harliette 1 year ago
@harliette supplements are not the best choice. try to do meditation, yoga, exercise, visualization, and refrain from stimulants like caffeine.

Alright, so I have a few questions which may sound ignorant, but I am new to raw, so cut me a break :)
What are the health benefits of bee pollen?
Are dried fruits, like figs, raisins, dates... considered raw? What about dehydrated?
Why is store bought nut milk bad? Is it not raw?
Now stop laughing at me and answer my questions! haha
