  • Burton's flip was identical to Stewart's in 2005

  • 4:55 You can tell that this is when Kevin Lapage started driving racecars.

  • Isn't his name LaJoie?

  • @DrunkenProphetDave one of the two cars was actually lajoie who ended up flipping late that race

  • the slow car on the inside (i think they said it was mike wallace) must have been thinking "no im gonna die" and then nothing happens

  • I spent the first three minutes of this video trying to see where Randy Lajoie flipped, I couldn't see him! lol

  • At 2:52 If i was in the car on the apron i wouldve said "Shit here they come"

" What the hell Holy Shit"

  • 1:20 - at the end of the tri-oval grass a car is getting some air

  • I wonder what it's like to be passed by a wreck like that.

  • those grandstands are mighty empty. oh how times have changed. oh wait...

  • Robbie Reiser and Matt Kenseth, one of the best driver/crew chief ever.

  • Burtons flip looks like Stewarts in '06

  • Wow! If you watch the grass area when Ward flips you can see Two other cars almost blow over. The first of the other two is easy to see, just keep your eye on the grass, the other is right behind it, you can just See it before it goes off the top left corner of the screen. That would have been odd to see 3 go over like that in one wreck LOL!

  • never knew robbie reiser drove busch series cars

  • @flipmaster325819 This crash ended his career.

  • @ROBLOXdude95 ...and started Kenseth's.

  • @InvisibleTeeth Kenseth started subbing for Bill Elliott in 1998.

  • @ROBLOXdude95 that was his first cup race.

but the reason he was even in that position is because after Reiser got hurt he called his old Wisconsin rival Matt Kenseth to drive his Busch car.

  • @nascarfan49and29 you spelt Lajoie wrong in the title.

  • Robby Reiser was a lot of things, but okay was not one of them. He would never race again.

  • i bet on ;ajoy's flip that slow car was thinkin holy crap what just happened :)

  • Ward's flip was like Tony Stewart's flip in 06'!

  • lajoy wouldve done like 10 flips if that other car didnt hit him

  • Pretty sure these are both my captures. In fact I'm 100% sure they are.

  • I was actually there at this race.I was with my dad and this was the first nascar event I had ever attended. We were sitting about 12 to 15 rows back from the start finish line.I remember the Ward Burton flip vividly.I am certainly glad he wasn't hurt but I have to say it was an awesome sight to see in person and to be that close.

  • does anyone notice that the front of the stands arent covered at all no attendance or what

  • @tdiharold5265

There's quite a few people there, definitely a good turnout for a Busch Series race. At least for the time.

  • yeah but still

  • simalir to stewarts a few years later

  • 5:01!!!!!!!!!

  • At :21 and 1:19 you can see Tommy Houston (when he was in the 6 car earlier) get a bit airborne behind Ward Burton on the grass at the frontstretch. No one knew that the same car would later get airborne again at the same race, that time flipping with a different driver inside.

  • It would have been interesting to have two blowovers at one race.

  • I meant two in one wreck

  • That pretty much ruined Reiser's racing career.

  • Didn't he lose his hand at some point during his career?

  • why was a car stalled on the track at 4:55?

  • he not stalled he just goin bout 4 mph look at 5:25 and look 4 tht car u can c it barely movin it would have sucked if some1 would have drilled him in the back porb not even good 4 entertainment cuz back in the day he prob would have died

  • well he must of had one hell of a view

  • Second crash was a career-ender for Robbie Reiser.

  • Tommy Houston had the crush panels on his car knocked in on the first wreck. He eventually got sick and Randy LaJoie got into his car before the crash where he flipped.

  • That was Tommy Houston flipping on the last wreck not Randy Lajoie. Mike Joy hasnt changed a bit still doesnt know what he is looking at.

  • aren't those 2 different races?

  • At Dega' Edwards went into the fence

  • theyve had at least one flip per year in nascar at least since 2000 if not sooner

  • If your talking about the Cup Series, 2006 would be an exception.

  • no, the top 3 series

  • Two in a race! Now they seldom have one for an entire season. There hasn't been a flip in the Nationwide Series since Kyle Busch at Talladega in '07.

  • There was a flip today in the Nationwide Series at Nashville.

  • and at talladega matt kenseth went barrellrolling

  • There's been 3 in '09 and nearly another one in the truck race at Lowe's! lol

  • I miss Ward. He is an awesome guy

  • Are you sure this was in 1995? It looks a whole lot older, and also, I thought they had changed the cars by then. Also 1995 was the year I was born.

  • It's 1995, you can see Kenny Wallace's #8 Red Dog car at one point, '95 was the first year that was his sponsor. I think most of the Chevy teams still ran Luminas in the Busch series in '95, even though they switched to the Monte Carlo in Cup that year.

Also, random fact of the day: Patty Moise finished 7th in this race, which was her career-best finish.

  • I wonder why Ward Burton & Randy LaJoie aren't racing any more?

  • Burton can't get a ride, Lajoie got hurt, tried to come back, didn't do well, so he went into retirment.

  • Burotn Also is all but retired, due to that fact that he cant get a ride, its funny how you can win the Daytona 500 and then less than 5 years later be out of the sport entirely

  • that slower car is lucky, could have gottn plowed real easy!!!

  • Just shows how fast the cars are going there, the car is being flipped (for like 90% of the flip) by the air, look at the way it flips!

  • He was in the air forever dang.

  • if you look you can see a bunch of fans running up the stands because they think the flipping car's gonna hit them. funny as hell!

  • its lajoie dumbass

  • Randy LaJoie was in the Dura-Lube car (on-board camera) that was involved in the first accident. Tommy Houston let LaJoie take over in the 6 car before JaLoie wrecked again.

    Thank you for the clip!

  • I remembered my heart stopped with this one. Ward was my driver.

    Heather

  • You'll note Mike Joy misidentifies the car in the air; his tendency is always to watch the track, not the monitor, and he misidentified the two cars because their colors were similar.

  • Is the full race on here? If not can someone put it up? If it is what do I type in?

  • when you get a dick slammed in your ear, let me know.

  • holy crap that looks exactly like Stewart's NBS crash

  • now that you pointed it out, it really does look like it!

  • I can't believe that Robbie Reiser drove the 17 car back then & that car would be later driven by Matt Kenseth in the NASCAR Nationwide Series & The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series!!!!!

  • Yeah, in fact this is the wreck that ended Reiser's driving career. After this race he called his old rival from Wisconsin, Matt Kenseth to take over his car. Reiser would be the crew chief and car owned. Jack Roush eventually bought Reiser's team and left Reiser as the crew chief....and that is history!

  • ward burtons wreck looks like tony stewarts wreck in 2006 at talladega

  • the second wreck ended the race under caution rite?

  • Almost, but no, it didn't. They got the track cleared for a 1 lap shootout. Little ended up winning in the #23. However, there were video problems with the TNN broadcast so that they missed showing the finish live. The finish was apparently taped and shown 20 minutes later. So many were taken out due to wrecks that only 18 drivers out of the 42 that started finished (13 of those, including the wrecked #25 of Johnny Rumley) finished on the lead lap.

  • which race was the first one with ward burton?

  • They were both in the same race. The Busch Series race at Dega in 1995.

  • 2 things of note.

    1. That slow car on the apron is LUCKY he didn't get creamed. Had Lajoie hit that car, it would have been a tremendous impact for both drivers.

    2. If people are wondering, yes, thats the same Robbie Reiser that was Kenseth's crew chief for years. He was an owner/driver, but an opprotunity came up with Kenseth, so he climbed out of the car for good and Kenseth took over. Obviously the rest is history, as that was the "beginning" of the current #17 Roush team.

  • Houston was sick, Randy Lajoie was in the car when it flipped.

  • thank you, ppl have been telling me Houston was flipping

  • Yup. Houston was involved in the first melee. The wreck knocked out his crush panels and he eventually couldn't handle being in the car anymore so LaJoie went in for him.

  • he also got airborne in both

  • houston was involved in both wrecks lol

  • i think the green car at 2:58 was robbie reiser. im not sure though was it?

  • it was...his carrer ending crash

  • where do u find these videos?

  • what was that music at the very beginning it was very brief

  • it was coming off of a commercial

  • capacity crowd

  • there were alot more people up higher but yea. It was 12 years ago and you see the tally races today sold out

  • Ya Houston drove the 6 in the race but he got of the car(can't remember why) and Lajoie replaced him before the crash.

  • I did not know Ward Burton drove the Cat car in the Busch series.

  • The 6 car is Tommy Houston, I'm positive. Randy Lajoie drove the #64 car that had the on board camera.

  • which one?

  • was that racing back to the line
