I have seen people land in a field, which has then disrupted the uniformity of the air mass and kicked off a big thermal and pilots who were only 30 seconds behind the grounded pilot would thermall away into the sun set...

That looks like fun when i was around 7 i used to go to a park with a hill get a large umbrella and "TRY" to take off. it worked once but it was scary as shit and i let go it went into a soccer game and it was hilarious

@robertgift LZ = Landing Zone, XC = Cross country. I think the flight took ~4 hours. I could be wrong though - I can't remember.

If that many new pilots died each year this sport would not have got to the stage it is at now!
