I have seen people land in a field, which has then disrupted the uniformity of the air mass and kicked off a big thermal and pilots who were only 30 seconds behind the grounded pilot would thermall away into the sun set...
That looks like fun when i was around 7 i used to go to a park with a hill get a large umbrella and "TRY" to take off. it worked once but it was scary as shit and i let go it went into a soccer game and it was hilarious
@jessejessejesse3 this is completely false. I wish people wouldn't make up ridiculous stats that just serve to scare people unneccesarily away from what can be a very safe and highly enjoyable sport/pastime
If that many new pilots died each year this sport would not have got to the stage it is at now!
@jessejessejesse3 oh yeah i didn't see the other threads like -100% of dead pilots die within the first year. doh! its difficult to get irony across in txt messages sometimes!! good landing control btw
what is that in the sun @ .25 ???????

Thank you. What I thought.
I do not understand the sentences. "After not getting up in a thermal over the landing zone, I began to land in the core of the thermal."
"Andy used this thermal to climb out on his cross-country flight of 62 miles."

Pleasexplain in English.
"LZ" "XC"?
How long did the 62 mile glide take?
robertgift 1 year ago
@robertgift LZ = Landing Zone, XC = Cross country. I think the flight took ~4 hours. I could be wrong though - I can't remember.

@LZmiljoona yes, joking. I would be too busy at funerals to fly if this were the case.

@ramases1 I'm joking. there are about 0-10 paragliding deaths in the US each year I think which is less than 0.5%
