IS IT TRUE THAT THE WHOLE STATE OF TEXAS HAS BEEN IN DROUGHT SINCE TRANSFERRING WARREN JEFFS TO TEXAS PRISON????HOW MANY PARENTS HAVE SEXUALLY ACTIVE, UNMARRIED 14 YEAR OLDS? WHAT HAVE ANY OF US DONE ABOUT THE BABIES UNDER 14 WHO ARE BEING USED FOR PROSTITUTION AND PORN? UTAH CODE STATES MARRIAGE..14 WITH CONSENT OF PARENT...WE ARE ALL CALLED OUT OF BABYLON...WHO HEARD THE VOICE OF GOD?
Homosexuality, Incest, Necrophilia, Pedophilia, and Beastiality are all wrong, sick, twisted, and disgusting. I don't see the argument here. It's not about acceptance, it's about right and wrong.
@nottanable And I disagree. There is a reason that only a man and a women can reproduce. It's unnatural. I'm not saying burn the gays or anything. I just am against it and would prefer that they keep that to themselves around me. It disgusts me.
- Warren Jeffs is a terrible person, I will give you that.
- To bsl103158 : you are right in some ways but so far off from actually understanding these people.
Lori Chatwin is a fantastic mother and has raised many wonderful, stable children. Ross is not deserving of any of the bashing you threw his way either. Out of all the men I have met from this community, he is one of the most loving and caring. Lori just knows full well that she got a GREAT husband.
-The LDS basics to this religion is the best thing about it. Perhaps the only real good thing about it. The standards works -book of mormon, bible and doctrine and covenants are the same for this community as the LDS church. Other than these 3 books these communities are COMPLETELY different! Saying they are the same is like saying all Catholic and Christian churchs are exactly the same because they all believe in Jesus. Pshhhhh! You want to knock the LDS church go find a valid place to do it.
I am not in any way defending this community or their practices. There are things that have taken place in the community that are wrong. But, in what city hasn't awful things taken place?
Lori is a wonderful woman! I am defending her!
-I think we are ALL all for Warren Jeffs recieving a life sentence.
-Her husband does not dictate her. They are best of friends and run their home wonderfully, together. Great example of a smooth running marraige.
First of all, I know this woman. She is incredibly sweet, her husband is a really great fun guy.
-She is NOT lonely
-They are doing very well. They have several amazing children.
-They are no longer members of the FLDS church but still live in the city.
-I do think it just the fact that is something that you don't understand that makes it strange to you. And, your accusations are so far off - for anyone that knows this woman you it just makes your accusations funny. You are soooo wrong!!
She really seems like a nice lady. This interview is a few years old, I wonder how they are doing. I hope that they are living in peace. I hope she gets a very nice sister wife.
hey i`ll be ur sister wife lol i think shes just lonely i understand that i mean shes isolated from everyone within and outside of the church so a sister wife whose kind and understanding would work however she could get stuck with one that competes with her alot for attention finances etc so she needs to be careful...
"fine but my best friend doesnt sleep with my husband"
"says who?" ohhh snap shes got a point lolol
at the end of the day its a different religion and culture that most of us have never experienced and therefore cannot understand, which means we ave no right to judge them, as long as the people are of legal age to be married, are not forced its completely there disicion, they are aware of modern america and whats considered a normal living, than its there choice and we shouldnt judge them
Hmm, so you would agree to your 80 year old neighbour lusting after your daughter and then forcing the community to band together to convince and brainwash you and her to let her SLEEP with grandpa and marry him?
That is what these old couts do. They have harems and oust the young verile boys if the boys - men balk.
Perhaps you might rethink not judging and letting them alone.
I very much agree with this. There is no way on earth that any of us can actually know whether or not God is involved in these polygamous marriages. Even if we don't agree with it and don't practise it ourselves, it doesn't give us the right to go around judging people for what they themselves believe. It's not necessary, and it just puts more hate into the world.
@lucy9359 But that still conflicts with the rest of my argument, which you have yet to disprove (because there is no way anyone can actually disprove it, considering that we can never know what God is thinking, because he is God and it's with FAITH that we believe, if we do at all). In addition, not everyone believes in the New Testament. The New Testament was written by men. Through God, it is said, but still by men. Surely there's much room for error.
...Catholics believe Jesus is the Messiah. Christianity, by definition, is a religion that believes that Jesus is the Messiah. By basic logic, Catholics are Christians.
I think you are referring to Protestants when you say "Christians." Regardless, they all started from the same root. And in the end, we're all people, Christian or Catholic or Mormon or FLDS. What's right to me isn't right to you, and vice versa. You can't put your own beliefs as 'right' for everyone else.
@lucy9359 That's fair. But as far as legality goes, the whole point of America is to have freedom of religion. So...legally, you can't, but I suppose that morally, you can. Still, these people are free to believe what they will, and I think that there's something to it. That's not to say I believe in it (my personal beliefs are very confusing), but I believe it can be believed.
@watercoloursgrey they are told they will go to hell if they do not engage in plural marriage...this begins in their teen years...they are sometimes married to their own step fathers and brides average age is between 12-18 years old...if we take the limits off this legally it is open season on the mass populations...this is why we can't take legal limits off of the minority because their are warren jeff's in this world and he has created a society of mindlessness...this is nothing more than LUST
@lucy9359 Isn't most of what Jesus taught about love? Isn't it therefore wrong of you to be judging another sinner? How can you, who protests to believe Jesus' teachings for all they are, not practise the same patience, kindness, and acceptance for your neighbours as Jesus did?
@watercoloursgrey that word judgement means to condemn I did not condemn these people I said they are sinning...neither did I denie that I also was a sinner but I am saved by grace and there for I do not walk in my sin...I am upholding scripture that is not judging and it in fact is the most loving thing I can do toward you if your caught in a cross roads of the difference between right and wrong...
@watercoloursgrey so let me ask you a question where do we draw a line in society on what is right or wrong? who gets to decide? If they get to decide then so do the pediphiles they are claiming that we need to legalize pedephilia as they say it is a sexual orientation...once we have justified this though we know it has countless victims those who advocate for it try to say we made the victims by teaching them it is wrong to be mollested...as if...
@watercoloursgrey once we have embraces pedophilia as a sexual orientation then we have to embrace insest and of course they are arguing that this is a sexual orientation after that we can move on to bestiality there must be an argument for this and then we can argue for those who like to have sex with dead bodies...told try to tell me I am judgemental because my standard of truth is the only one that makes any sense! So if someone decides to have sex with your horse are you going to embrace it?
@lucy9359 Woah woah woah. I said nothing about pedophilia. And no one said anything about bestiality. I'm just saying your way isn't the only way.
And I'm done arguing now...if you decide to exercise your lack of acceptance, that's your battle with whatever God you choose to accept. Just remember that everyone's human, all right?
But then again, I suppose you have the right not to believe that.
@watercoloursgrey you got my point this is about pedophilia 75% of the brides are under age they are teenagers and you also understood I called perversion perversion because it is what it is...and I know you understand that I am saying when do you stop drawing the line...if your going to do evil then do yourself a favour and admit it is evil it is easier on the soul than to call evil holy...you call it holy your a pharisee a two fold child of hell....
I agree that Warren Jeffs did some horrific things. I agree he's an awful role model and he really tore up the FLDS community. But what about those people who genuinely believe this "principle?" Is it fair of us to say that they're incorrect solely because our set of virtues is different?
Poor girl, she just wants a friend. It is so sad that this place makes having a friend to talk to so costly. What a weird orwellian inversion though, polygamy makes a woman MORE valuable to a man. As far as Joseph Smith and his wives go, he was married to 14 year old girls and took other mens' wives. That doesn't sound like the act of a selfless savior to me, sounds like a power-hungry pervert.
I find it ironic how quick you are to defend FLDS views when you say yourself that they are SO different than Mormons. It seems you change your opinion based on what's most convenient, but the TRUTH doesn't change based on convenience or what's in style.
Um, actually the Bible SAYS that polygamy is wrong (1 Tim). The Bible doesn't condone it at all. In fact, many of the problems in the Bible between different generations stemmed from the problem of a man having multiple wives/partners.
There is plenty of proof that the Bible is an accurate historical record. Jews, Philistines, etc... there is proof that each of these cultures existed at one time and they are backed by historical records, coins, artifacts... there is no proof of Nephites, etc.
@BlessedBeyondCompare Funny that YouTube recommended this video to watch lolz. What I'll add is that even if there was proof, people wouldn't believe or follow based on evidence alone and many would try to disprove the findings. I know people who have read the Dead Sea Scrolls and still think the Bible is a fairytale. Religion can't be 100% confirmed through scientific means or studies created by the natural man. That's just my two cents :-)
I pity them because they're deceived, and it breaks my heart. So far deceived, in fact, that no documentation or other proof can convince them that they are following a false religion with a false prophet.
I don't know how FLDS's could have CHANGED anything... Joseph Smith himself practiced polygamy, as did Brigham Young and all of the other founders of the Mormon religion.

Mormons are referred to as Latter-Day Saints, are they not? Which means FLDS IS Mormon... fundamentalist Mormon. They retained the core beliefs that the founders of the LDS church had... so to put it more accurately, they are MORE Mormon than regular LDS Mormons. :)
i can understand how these brainwashed women use housework as an excuse for letting their husbands marry multiple wives but the question is , what excuse is it for the men if its not about sex..and if they were such men as these women believes them to be then why in the world would they need a second wife to help out with housework and children..is it because they really aren't man enough to do themselves!
I'm reading "When Men Become Gods" and even though this lady is brainwashed at least they stood up to Jeff's. Jeffs basically ruled by fear and sex.. Sooo messed up.
I notice deep confusion in all the people from out there. I 've studied their beliefs and watched them for 4 years. The isolation and indoctrination are extremely strong. Many have returned to the area after years away because of family ties and the beautiful terrain but an enormous number of crimes have been committed here against hundreds of people in the name of polygamy and their religion. Child deaths are far more common than in most of the US, There are many needs here due to loneliness
The FLDS & LDS MORMON LAW of POLYGAMY it is in there MORMON scriptures called Doctrine & Covenants
D&C 132:61 And again, as pertaining to the law of the priesthood-if any man espouse a virgin, and desire to espouse another, and the first give her consent, and if he espouse the second, and they are virgins, and have vowed to no other man, then is he justified; he cannot commit adultery for they are given unto him; for he cannot commit adultery with that that belongeth unto him and to no one else.
It's so lonely in huge areas of US west. Strong mormon indoctrination all her life makes her think to have women in her husband's life rather than "displease God"- plus true female friends are few. This fam.stood up to Warren Jeffs to some extent, but they too were starting to get involved with polygamy- two teen girls were invited to be wives w/this man. It's awash in polygamy there--a third world country- I think some women would begin lesbianism from loneliness there, and depression
