The 80's metal band Loudness did pretty well in America, they had 2 albums in the billboard top 100. They are the only Japanese musicians so ever do that if my information is correct.

You're lucky I even heard of them! & anyone can write their own WIKI, which certainly Keiko did, so which means nothing! Show-Ya is NOT associated with Vixen or Lita Ford WHO ARE "REAL" INTERNATIONAL FEMALE ROCK STARS! & "IF" Andy Johns was so into Show-Ya, he could have gotten a record deal for them in the U.S. or UK, which he didn't! I know people who listen to Show-Ya (in the US). The concert was in 1990 moron, its almost been 20 years. Of course they aren't well known in the US. Japanese music is not loved by the masses abroad. Look at X-Japan or Luna Sea. Or the 80s musicians you mentioned. They are good but not famous.

Look at any extremely famous Japanese singer. Pick anyone! Not one of them is going to become famous abroad. Most westerners aren't ready for Japanese artists yet. Maybe one day. They are NOT famous anywhere other than somewhat on a small level in Japan- a limited market- and that's if people can still remember these "older" ladies who are well past their prime! But I admit THE MUSICIANS ARE AWESOME! Just too bad that this singer was so limited and mediocre and not up to par with the band, which held them back from becoming a bigger success. The band made Keiko! She needs them! She couldn't succeed as a solo artist, like Mari Hamada, Ann Lewis, and all the others...

The band got its big break in '82 until '91. They also had their 20th anniversary reunion and now are playing again live at large venues. Tarada Keiko is just as important as the rest of the band.

In the 80's, their music was more well known than you think. It was limited but, considering Japan is the 2nd largest consumer of music in the world... Oh, and Show-Ya never wanted to become "mainstream" like the 80's rock singers (though good) you listed. That's why Show-Ya broke up in the 90's.

BUT Show-Ya started as a "mainstream" bubblegum J-Pop band (look at the early-mid 80's videos!) & was NOT a rock band!They were not even acknowledged or included in their own Japanese Rock Magazines like how Loudness, VowWow, ETC, along with female rockers Mari Hamada & Steffanie all were!Then after they broke up, Keiko became a "mainstream" solo singer but didn't have much success like Ann, Mari, or any of the major female stars, so she needed the reunion & to have the band back- who made her!

Oh, and one more thing... I disagree...Tarada Keiko is not as important as the rest of the band. THE BAND MAKES HER. THAT'S WHY SHE NEEDED THEM BACK TO HAVE A CAREER AGAIN. This band is so hot, they could move to other countries and work with an array of other singers, and be successful wherever they go! As for Keiko, she could not. She is limited to Japan, and still NEEDS THE BAND to have some success!

Because now you have insulted the entire band by stating they are not worthy of their rock status. On top of it, you don't even acknowledge they played in LA in 1990 in front of Americans or their historical trip to North Korea.

On top of it its the year 2009 and plenty of people here outside of Japan know of Show-Ya so I think that is extremely impressive. I've seen plenty of positive English comments. Just you're negative.
