... Zakir leaves the rational mind in tatters! and this is the best i've ever heard Karsh Kale -- he's on fire. the whole unit seems ready to lift-off. Laswell has a vision. thanks uploader.
WOW, this is such an amazing beat (rhythm), I had the cold shivers over my body!!!!!!!!
My special thanks to my big friend "Aujo" (YouTube ways1234) for sharing this amzing videoclip with me, thanks Aujo, I put this one immediately in my favorites!
I shared this video with my greatest friend all over the world "Josee" in Canada, YouTube catzfoever.
Aujo, you have made my day!!!!!!

He plays very fast no doubt ... But it mostly sounds like automatic riffle .. Not much musical depth and pleasure in it after some time ... The faster he plays, the more enhusiastic people are ...This music in general sounds quite rough, disturbing and aggressive
Every time I see these videos, I feel more honored to have watched this in person. Easily one of the top three shows I've ever witnessed. I wish PBS had made the entire performance available....it clocked in around 2 hours.
Laswell is a musician, but he is foremost a manager who makes things happen. That's why Hussein worked with him. Laswell is known for fusion projects.
he and the people from his gharana just beat the drum as forcefully as they can without proper sense always. sorry for that comment, he is a good player but nothing like zakir...
Believe it is Tabla Beat Science's CD "Live in San Francisco at Stern Grove". You could try eBay or Amazon if you're desperate or have your local (small, independent!) record store order it for you. Read reviews on Amazon and to find other possibilities. It is a two CD set; I think it's excellent. Great music to BLAST!

No pressure with the tuning hammer... Just a light touch.. Like touching a guitar string to get a harmonic..

TRY iTUNES FOR ZAKIR TRACKS
BUT BUY THE PURE CLASSICAL ONES.
NOT THAT I AM AGAINST THE FUSION STUFF
BUT NOTHING CAN BEAT THE ORIGINAL THING.
sudhanshu82 4 years ago
can someone please tell me what the drummer in the blue is holding in his hand, at 2:46 in the clip?
bugstrut 4 years ago
Its a tuning hammer for the tabla. He's using it to change the pressure on the drum head to change the pitch
