  • blood on blade, looks to be that of some1 asian. JK LOL its German blood JK

  • I found a gerber like the 1 in the middle. it has 084172 on blade. any one interested i will sell , it has a leather sheath. knife blade has minor surface rust . sheath is has minor rust on rivets at the top and some kind of metal hooks at top have minor rust

  • I think the FS was a better knife. It was designed for killing, whether sentries, or for widespread assassination plans that were developed. I think these uses were very realistic. People were trained to use these knives and had great confidence in them. Today we have better manufacturing, without wartime controls. Knives are expected to adapt to a wider range of fanciful uses and styles. And they probably line-up better with those. The FS was more real world; stick it watch them die.

  • original FS (made in the SMP armoury) had a knurled metal handle, and were better balanced (actually they looked closer to the last one you had there). guessing that FS one is a mass produced Wilkinson Sword? cool stuff anyway

  • @CNCTEMATIC No question the early variant FS was a better knife. Unfortunately, people are much more likely to run into the later variants. Just so there's no confusion, this knife is an original issue, early production third pattern. Unlike some of the later production and knock-offs, this blade has excellent steel and holds an edge quite well.

  • @sionaprhys yeh I'm just jealous of the collection so thats where any snooty detail picking comes from :) I should have read yr extended description. Legend of a knife, as all the mythology attests!

Re suggestions, I would like to see the knives closer to the camera to make out more details. cheers, great collection

  • @CNCTEMATIC You're right. I'm working with a really cheap camera and I need to arrange for better lighting and sound. If I get serious I may have to upgrade the equipment a bit. If I do some reviews on the individual knives, I'll try to get some good close-ups and show a little detail. :-)

  • Fairly short tang ? the gerbers MK2 tang is less than a inch long. Gerber used to be a very good brand but i think they are going down hill rapidly . As a example of gerbers declining quality look at the new folders where the springs break , and the Bear Grylls knives that keep breaking. That applegate dagger is a beut , and its got balance like a ballerina, even though its also a gerber.

  • @MasterSysop The fixed blade Applegate was made by a number of makers with Boker being among the best of the mass production knives. Mine is a Blackjack which is probably the poorest variant although still a pretty good knife. Gerber makes the folding models.
