  • Say a word for trolling dislikers, they aint got nuthin at all.

  • have to say, absolutely my favorite VU song, perhaps not their best, but definitely my favorite.

  • This is some good music...want to read a good book?: The Dawn of Intelligence

  • The Black Crowes do a kickass cover of this tune..

  • @MrTJRadio youtube.com/watch?v=lf9-BCix4io

  • This song is about what the 1% does.

  • Dislike button?.....what the? Posssibly the greatest song ever written....did anyone ever consider that this band will influence generations of young muscians world wide......remember its 100 years from now, and some kid in junior high is studying classical rock and roll.........?

  • I wonder why there's a dislike button. It's not the internet cares if you dislike things.

  • Trolling is just a word that wrong people use to seem right. My dumb conformist mind forced me to say that and I'm very disappointed in myself.

  • I was just trolling this song in a whimsical and sarcastic way that would be difficult to understand. If I hadn't my inbox would not be bombarded with "shut the fucks up you loser!"s. I can understand how you could think I was being pretentious but assure you that I was not.

  • @75xaya Trolling in any way is the lowest common denominator.

  • @amisaad214 hope you are kidding.

  • CHris wimer free calvin!!

  • This is just a great song!!!!!! Very well written/played........how can you really find the dislike button?????

  • This is 1 of my favorite songs to listen to when I'm feeling down and depressed.

  • I was having a night of drinking and hanging out with my friends at home, and this was the last song I played for the night. They all have it on their ipods now. =)

  • Is that Lou Reed or Sterling Morrison doing the lead guitar.

  • @75xaya Sterling Morrison

  • @MushroomCloud22 Is John Cale playing bass?

  • @75xaya Doug Yule is playing bass, the guy singing. Cale left the band in 68 I think.

  • wonderful track

  • mm yeah.

  • just so good ........

  • HERMOSA MELODIA

  • One of my favs

  • I love the odd timing in the singing. This song is as close to a musical orgasm as I've ever heard. It's "too bad' and 'thank God" that they were on drugs at the same time.

  • what a tune, wish lou had sung it tho !

  • I've got some bad news, this song doesn't exist and that's because it's too good to be true.

  • THREE DISLIKES NOW??!!?? You sick creeps, I'm going to send Jehovah's Witnesses to your door ever day for the rest of your lives.

  • @crazybatcheat There are 5 dislikes now... the fucking end is near

  • Perfect swan song from a perfect band.

  • The nearly 1 minute long drum roll that starts around 5:35 has to be one of my favorite moments of any piece of rock'n'roll ever. It's like the build up to an orgasmic, and when it finally releases, it's heaven.

  • this is like the hey jude of velvet underground, i nice long song that just makes you feel good inside

  • @bendesmond66 man dont even compare the beatles to the velvet underground dont get me wrong the beatles are good but the velvet underground are at another level

  • Man I wish i had nothin at all

  • I think Doug Yule did a good job on this & I think Lou should apologize

  • ZOMBIELAND!!!

  • nothing is the best

  • this and Ocean from the VU Live 69 are probably the best VU songs.

Singer (as mentioned before) is not Lou Reed but Dough Yule.

And am I the only person that somehow this songs reminds of the Abbey Road album by the Beatles?

I have not heard this song in over 25 years....

    aint got nothing all

  • floating down a pipe, daydream trippin.

  • My puppy's name is Joana Love. :)

  • SPOKO

  • Heard this off zombieland

  • it makes me me be my owen substitute!

    Ooohh sweeet' notin!!!

  • wonderful velvets !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • la la looove velvet underground <3

  • For those of you who don't like or don't understand Lou and Velvet, It's a shame and a sad thing for you. Where as not everyone agrees which band is best, bottom line is this was the best of times for music. Most of the bands from this time cranked out drug induced tunes. For those of us who lived it, Very Cool. For those of you to young to have lived it but now appreciate, Great!!! For those of you who don't get it, to bad. Rock On!!!

  • To the ONE person who disliked this..... Explain yourself!

  • @SulfurMonkey he/she's shakey and pressed wrong.

  • This song is kind of weird. And by Weird I mean it reminds me of The Velvet Underground with Skynyrd or the Allman Brothers with some Southern Rock flair.

  • Classic

  • no song has ever made me feel this much emotion.

  • Love this!

  • When they play this in away we go ,just heart breaking. It's so perfect

  • @MrMaletinck no. it sounds like Velvet Underground.

  • Comment removed

  • @MrMaletinck Are you fucking kidding me this fucking album was released 21 years before Oasis even formed and besides oasis is nothing compared to the Velvets. The Velvets are the greatest pyscedellic band that ever lived. oasis might sound like this not the other way around the only thing is this is way better than anything that oasis ever did.

  • @hermygagala You misunderstand me , i just say what Oasis maybe copy to Velvet... i love Velvet Undergroud !

  • @MrMaletinck Ok good man as long as you understand the influence correctly and not backward lol. Anyway keep pyscedellically rocking lol if that's a word.

  • @hermygagala The Velvet Underground was perhaps the best New York based Psychedelic band but The Quicksilver Messenger Service was THE definitive Psychedelic Rock band out of San Francisco, even better in many aspects over The Grateful Dead. Lou Reed still sounded like some kid out of a garage band.

  • @TheEldoradoKid Yeah and you're a fucking idiot to respond when I am speaking positively about the band. And Quicksilver Messenger Service was fuck all compared to The Velvets and Grateful Dead. Lou actually had experience with what Psycedellic rock is all about: DRUGS of all kinds and was a heavy user for many years. Quicksilver were fucking posers compared to Lou and The Velvets. You can get the fuck out.

  • @hermygagala You gotta be kidding me man, you are responding like somebody plugged your dick into a light socket!, sheeesh! Most emotive use of the "F" word I've seen in months, Ha Ha! Read my first line again and grow up, I did compliment The Velvet Underground, by saying they were perhaps the best New York band, that's something, right? Are you actually proud of heavy soul destroying drug use so that people can just fucking bleed their music in an authentic fashion? Wow! seen that years ago..

  • @TheEldoradoKid The only thing that really really got me about your comment was "Lou Reed stil sounded like some kid out of a garage band". How dare you say that about this legend. The rest was an opinion not boldly and self assurely stated. But I hate how you bashed Lou Reed. The rest was ok, but still only an opinion.

  • @hermygagala OK thats better, I'll accept that, and you have my apology also. Anyway, I have some of this on vinyl, got the Andy Warhol album with the banana on it. Yeah Lou's cool, for sure, some unforgettable edgy music, especially HEROIN..."she's my wife, and she's my life.. and I just don't know...etc. yep, pulled right from the gutter of his experience, shit., scarred me into NOT trying it, thank God. I liked that sultry Nico chick, the Nordic Ice Queen with: "I'll be your mirror"

  • Comment removed

  • @TheEldoradoKid I don't know about "better in many aspect over the Grateful Dead" you almost literally cannot compare any of the bands from that era. They're all essential to the history of music. The Grateful Dead have a humungous catalogue of music of all genres.

  • @azambory Hmmm. I suppose you are right, everybody was trying to break new ground in those days with impressive results, it was indeed a magical creative time! I know the Dead does have a wide repetoir, and their following is legend. If you are looking for a certain hardcore, gritty citified psychedelia, the Velvet Underground touches places that the Dead were not mean or arrogant enough to explore, thank God for that. Yes the peace loving, hippified sound of the Dead contrasts greatly here.

  • @azambory You can't compare anything really , aesthetic is subjective and when it comes to meaning different people are touched by different things .

  • highly underated for this genre

    !! V.U.!!

  • @rikety1 Highly Underrated... period....

  • nice song! !!

  • At first you look at the length of the song and think it's too long..then by the end it's too short.

  • Sweet stuff

  • zomnieland FTW~!!!

  • the people with nothing are always the friendly ones and the rich usually assholes

  • relaxing song ever made

  • Im in love.

  • who is singing?
