myths about the flaws in earth hour: well sum1 said that ppl will light up candles which will increase the CO2 output.the real thing is.that it takes tens of millions of candles to make the CO2 output equal to a general coal run powerplant.

sum1 also said that it will take immense energy to adjust the settings of the powerplant wich will negate the energy saved during earth hour.well actually the pwrplnt dsnt stop prduction.its jst dat ppl consume less power so the remaining is returnd 2 da grid

Well since people won't be sitting in the dark they'll be lighting candles instead which have a much much higher output of CO2 than light-bulbs do.Also, if a power plant has to greatly reduce and then greatly increase it's electricity output in a short period of time a lot of energy is expended in adjusting it. This energy negates any savings made in the hour.

Caring for the earth is much more than just turning off your lights. Burning candles do not help the Earth but instead contribute in the greenhouse effect. We reap what we sow, please start today by doing simple things such as recycling, turning off unused tap water, car pooling, cycling, etc. You name it. A small thing will make a great difference!

I'm using wood instead coal to heat my house. I combined my home instalation with solar collector so It generates heat to use it as a warm wather or in heating house process. I`m at the moment making a project of a heat accumulator to accumulate an energy produced by the sun in summer to use it in the winter...

@bionneke Hello! I must tell You that you are wrong. There isn't any method to store such a large amount of electricity. Only way to do so is by pumping wather in wather power plant to higher place so it could generate electricity when the wather flow is reversed. This solution is known all over the world but there isn't enough places where we can start that type of conversion.

Hello! I`m an engineer. What I want to tell You is, that this kind of action doesnt help our Planet! It has an opposite effect. I know it, because I know how any power plant works! All typical power plants burn fuel to generate heat to produce steam that runs a steam turbine. Steam turbine runs an electric generator and generator produce electric current. WE CAN'T SHUT DOWN POWER PLANT FOR AN HOUR AND THEN RUN IT AGAIN.TIME TO STOP PROCESS IS near 7 days and to run it again is another day.THINK!

The town council was so hell bent on saving electricity that they switched off street lights, leaving everyone (cars, buses, motorcycles, pedestrians) in total darkness. It didn't take long for the first accident to happen: a 70-year old man was killed. The organiser of the event (World Wild Life Fund) finally come out and expressed their apologies. Saving human lives is more important than saving energy.
