He's your cousin, wow. I feel like a surrogate aunt or such to him. I just want to do all I can to build his success. I urge my family and friends to get on the Paul Thorn bandwagon. His music is an important part of my experience. He lifts up, rouses, and consoles.
Never had heard of Paul till we saw him a month ago in Colorado. Whoa. What a great show, went out and bought all this stuff. Terrific songwriter and not a bad singer; and what a band!
I just watched Sawyer Brown's version. It's good and Robert Randolph was awesome. But I like Paul Thorn's version the best! SB's version is more country and this is more bluesy and it sounds more natural, like it's coming out of their pores!!!! More my style.
I just recently saw this man perform at the King Biscuit Blues show in Helena, AR.-he is GREAT, he had 30,000 people rolling in their seats, what a performer, if he doesn't make it to the Top in the near future: there's got to be something wrong with the music promoters here in America..
He is one of our favorites. We have seen him a few times and he is a great storyteller and musician. His newest Cd is called "Pimps and Preachers" because his Dad is a preacher and his uncle is a pimp!
Saw him Saturday night in Luckenbach, TX and last summer opening for Bonnie Raitt in Austin. I am addicted too. I'll see him every chance I get from now on.......INCREDIBLE artist!!!
never ever pass up a chance to see this man perform, solo or full band. one of the best times ever. and one of the most honest and genuinely nice people you could ever hope to meet. preach on brother paul!!!!!!!!!!
Respond to this video... Totally agree. Paul Thorn is so amazing be it upbeat numbers or the more poignant. I would move south to be able to see him live more often if it were practical.
finally found it lol every few days going to school listening to Rick and Bubba on the radio i hear this and it gets stuck in my head and now i know the name of the song woot!
saw paul thorn last year at jamboree in the hills and have been completely blown away and obsessed since. Paul Thorn would be proud since he sang to me I aint livin in sin no more...since we took our wedding vowels who are the neighbors gonna talk about now!!!
Last year The Paul Thorn Band came to Barnesville, Georgia to play for Gordon College. They played the auditorium there which has state of the art acoustics. There were about 300 peple there. The college did a lousy job of promoting it. They rocked the house down. Midway throug the concert a thunderstorm knocked out power to the stage. Paul immediately grabbed an acoustic guitar and came down front and sat atop the orhcestra pit wall. He took requests. It was thrilling. Best concert ever.
While these cats are certainly trying to 'earn a livin'...the truth is...they do this shit for the music, the crowd...and the message. Been a sucker for the arts all my life..!! lol. PT band are the shit live...
Wow! Paul Thorn is one the most talented musicians I have ever seen, if you like this song, get the CD, there is not a bad song on this CD, when I first got it I played it in my car for weeks. If he comes within 200 miles of you and you love great music, you must go see him. I agree that he needs more
exposure, I have told all of my Friends about him, but he needs more recognition.
I think this guy is very talented along with his great band. I agree with BABAMARV he needs to get fixed up with a well known label because he is a very good songwriter as well as a musician. I hope I am fortunate enough to be able to see him perform live. He has a great stage performance!
Only thing wrong with this great tune is it is going to be the same as 2000 years ago, along with it right now being just like 200 years ago here in America.
What I don't understand is how a man & band so talented as these guys can have so many fans and get great gigs on national TV, but the records aren't making the charts. I assume it's only because they aren't distributed by a major label, so I hope they work out a deal that Paul can live with so they can get better promotion of his music as he should be as popular as anybody on the radio right now and be selling millions of CDs & downloads. Bill Hinds is an incredible guitarist also.
awesome performance!! Paul is my cousin, and for those of you who say that Sawyer Brown wrote it, You're completely wrong. Paul doesn't copy other people, other people copy Paul.
i think it is so awesome that with SB covering it...that it got played on CMT therefore (i would assume) making it a huge hit for your cousin. not saying Sawyer Brown did him a major favor but i just think that with SB having access to probably what could be a different crowd than what Paul probably has/had that Paul's ministry probably took off even more because of what God did in that instant.
@galatians110 I think that is is really cool that this guy wrote the song but doing a cover of a good song isn't copying it, it's complimenting the writer. Sawyer Brown and Robert Randolph didn't "copy" anyone.
IF WE DIDN'T KNOW HE LIVED THIS, IT WOULDN'T BE QUITE SO FUNNY. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR, GO TO www.paulthorn.com and download the podcast and have a great time, "Paul, can I have your cowboy hat?"
