I have a ton of Megatone records - some still sealed if anyone is interested. Just message me. Would love for them to go to people who can appreciate them.
@yohday Ya I remember the Trocadero I was living there in San Francisco only in my mid 20s worked at Luckys when I had time went to the Badlands they played quite a bit of Patricks music. I still have all the 12" records I bought in the 80s there in the Castro record stores.
I have never heard this until now, but feel like I was there when this came out dancing at the Saint or some place where they played it next to some Tom Of Finland type man and sniffing poppers in a jock strap.
OMG! This takes me way, way back. I knew Patrick through the gang at Moby Dick Records and it still hurts that they're gone almost 30 years later. Anyone happen to know what happened to Patrick's friend Jeff who was from Nob Hill, went to Berkeley and moved east in 73-74? I can't think of his last name for the life of me but it was something really German that started with R. The last time I saw him was at Jerry Gilliam's funeral.
This is the most special cut on the classic 1981 Megatron Man LP! Thank you for posting this ethereal and special dance track from yet another great artist gone waayyy before his time - timeless music like this will live on!! Cheers ... DAVEDJ
I wasn't into 80's disco very much. My favourite music is 70's orchestral disco, but SEA HUNT is just a masterpiece. So beautiful, atmospheric and melancholic.... It's very sad the Cowley had gone so soon. He would be in his 'environment' in today's electronic scene.
In the 80s the electronics winn and no-one disposed to pay the expansive acoustic orchestras & compose partitures for every instrumentist, like in the Mozart time. Naturally progress. Can someone today paying 30-40 people-orchestra(?) when the software can reproduce every piano, guitar, drum, and more infinite new sounds by a single man
Lindstrom ripped this for his "Tribulations" remix of LCD Soundsystem... I want to think of it as a tribute, not theft. Yes, it's a masterpiece no doubt.
@captmanonymous It looks like it's up again at watch?v=2QxXk6X9GDo It's the original theme song of the "sea Hunt" TV show of which Patrick Cowley did a very good version of.
Strange to see my disk on YourTube almost 30 years after puchase. This track and "Thank God For Music" were my favorites. Of course the other tracks were also very hot; Magtron Man is stil upto to date and seems to be the basic for nowadays remixes used by the actual DanceMixers. Pat was before his time!
Great!! I never heard this Remix of Sea Hunt. It's good made and have the typical Cowely-touch, that never reach another since nearly 30 years. RIP Pat - You was and are still the best in Synth.Dancemusic....it's not Techno, House or something similar. Just Pat create Songs that push you in the stratosphere....and don't forget - he made this music almost 30 years ago...
"this song makes me thing that I'm dead and that I'm on my way to the final place and that in the way I see mermaids and a cosmic beach with flying space seagulls , lesbian seagulls..."

Just think how much music would be changed and evolve and so much better today if he hadn't died so early..this man is a freakin' genius...no one can come close or will ever...he is defienately the father of dance music! It's hard to imagine how he was able to churn out a masterpiece like this on analog equipment without the help of a mac computer...truly a legend...I would have done anything to be able to have a glimpse into his crreative mind...too bad i was just two years old in 1981...
God Bless ya Patrick. R.I.P. We ALL miss you very much ! A whole new generation is discovering your genius ! We danced to all your music in the early 80's. Hope to see you some day in heaven. PS , say hi to Sylvester, Sharon and Larry ! and....... Keep The Angels Dancing.

Why do I have to wait 15 seconds for the whole thing to start?
JackMacyntire 3 years ago
Because the track starts with sea sounds faded in slowly.

stupid remark.

No. It takes too long. Especially if you're replaying a lot, you want it to start immediately. That's for you and your stupid remark.

This is unbelievable! I heard it first at Savas Pascalidis - Stellar Funk ep (lasergun002)and now I understand it's a total ripoff!
It's the same song exactly, just with a roll off brake in the middle.
song called Mermaids in space

I didn't know until recently but this is actually a cover of a theme tune from an old TV series starring Lloyd Bridges.
