If I might state something just for fun; Cavalrymen trained their horses so they could be guided with movements of the knees, so that the rider could use both hands.
I remember the feat of the Spanish Army Regiment Alcántara that loaded, being virtually decimated, the "step" to protect the evacuation of wounded by these events was awarded the highest distinction
Your stuff is so great, bestjonbon! You cover each topic from every angle; many wars and many nations in this one. I especially like the way you include military miniatures (you call them "action figures"). Are you a collector? By showing book covers, you even provide a short bibliography. Please don't stop, sir!
The 7th Cavalry was entrapped the day after the Wounded Knee Massacre. The 9th Cavalry Buffalo Soldiers rescued the 7th Cavalry.
Read the novel, Rescue at Pine ridge, the story of the rescue of the famed 7th Cavalry by the Buffalo Soldiers, and visit website; rescue at pine ridge. com. The novel embodies Native Americans, Outlaws and Buffalo Soldiers, in the days of the Native American Wars with the approach USA. Story is about, brutality, compassion, reprisal, bravery, heroism and gallantry.
@calapanpo, which one did you mean?. I am guessing one of the early images of art. It probably depicts some of the fighting by either Huns or Mongols vs Late Roman Cavalry.
Sound the Charge !!!, the Us cavalry in Civil War, on the Plains, the french in Napoleonic Wars, the British in the Valley of Dead, the Polish in WW2, the italian in Risorgimental wars and WW2 Isbuscenskj, and so on. We don't forget the cossack, the middle-age knights, the mongols, Huns, derwish, Ethiopian Galla cavalry, napoleonic mamelukes cavalry and the Great Plains Indians.
ps. Australian Light Horsemen.
I like every movie where we can see a cavalry charge .
please, tell me where can I find the mp3 file with this trumpet theme from the very beginning of this video??? What is the name of this theme??? Anyone?
That's the "Charge" call for the U.S. Cavalry. Just go to Google and type in "cavalry charge free download" or somesuch. It should get you a site somewhere.
Wonderful paintings go perfectly with the accompanying outstanding song and follow-up music. Overall, a beautiful rendition! Thanks for posting, I love it!!!!
This is a nice song (really cool). Here's a fact the last MAJOR (im doing that in capitals so it wont cause controversy) polish cavalry march was in 1940 during the 2nd wrld war. A guerilla group of poles charged a few dozen tanks and other army vehicles. the casualities qere high.
Some facts, the last units of cavalry were disbanded in the 1950's.
The last cavalry charge of the American and Italian army were in 1942. German and Russian: 1943 and the last cavalry charge I found was by the Polish army in 1945, all the above mentioned were achieved their tactical and the Poles also achieved their strategiec goal.
I love the comparison with cavalry made about tanks. The stink of gasoline is a lot worse than the smell of horses behinds for sure. The day oil runs out they will bring the cavalry back since tanls won't have fuel to move. We may have to figh once again with pikes, sword and archers too.
great, o btw this week i got a job at a comic book store, and i hung out with Billy Tucci, and also met some of his ww2 vet friends from the 442nd and 101st
it was amazing, o and drinking with billy tucci and watching him karoiking santa's coming to town was sweet

Greetings from Poland:)
I agree that during the cavalry charge is a fantastic view:) My country has a very long tradition of cavalry 966 - 1939.
Our greatest victories have come from, the cavalry.
For Example:
Polish Winged Hussars reigned in the europeans areas of battles in the XVI -XVIIc and for 125 years not lost any battle 1500-1625.

Yes, the Polish cavalry is famous, even here in the USA.
