  • I was helping my neighbor load some wood. He had one of these manual splitters. It didnt work very well at all! To its credit, it did split the more knotty wood that the maul and wedge could do. It has its place, but not for splitting alot of wood, nor logs longer than 18". Wouldnt split short logs either because the piston wasnt long enough. He still has it, and uses it, but he doesnt burn alot of woof either.

  • garbage, first, they show him using a felling ax for splitting firewood? you use a maul or splitting ax for splitting firewood. axes stuck in due to their narrow profile, mauls and splitting axes have a wider profile that prevents this and pushes the wood apart on impact.

    this thing is so slow!!!!

  • мозгоебательство!или тренировка онаниста!!!лучше раз топором уебать чем пол часа гидравлику нагнетать.

  • i know some one that had one .i chose the axe

  • ZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz......................

  • might be good for woman.

  • The man is in the "old home" before the firewood is finish........Best regards from Austria

  • it would be cheaper to rent a powerd one then use this and die after spliting 3logs

  • uh oh sorry kids, winters over, but i got 2 pieces for the fire what am i gunna do with em now, what a joke

  • This would be a good option if you couldn't get gas.

  • why would u want to split a log 3" wide? Shit

  • sorry, but thats the stupiest thing i ever seen!

  • It's like the answer to a question no one asked.

  • too slow

  • Wow If you can't cut that little of a log you shouldn't have a wood stove.

  • Don't know if I'd die of old age or freeze to death trying to split a season's wood with that!!

  • im planning on having a fireplace when im around 60 , i think i'll buy one right about now!! i would be on a tight time table thouhg , but WTF!! i like that thing!!

  • wow ,who would have any energy left to beat off.

  • Portable? You have to be kidding me. I'm starting to like this channel though. It's pretty funny imagining people buying this crap.

  • When your nuts start hurting and aching from swinging a big maul you will appreciate this machine. It is a hernia preventer. My Harbor Freight splitter is working good.

  • @Ncharlestun You will also want to get a dolly to move it around as it is relatively heavy.

  • to slow

  • I got one of these recently, and have yet to find a log it couldn't cut. I used it today on some green (cut down same day) 14" +++ HARD Arizona mesquite logs,.....no problem. It works for me, I am not in ANY hurry, so I give it an AAA+++ rating. The wood I cut is for next year anyways.

  • its good for paw paw gets a little work out and dont want a fire when he's done, broke a good sweat

  • Are you kidding...... ten tons per year it would take you a month at that speed with a axe two days rethink the product its junk

  • I purchased one here in Australia, it lasted about 2 hours before the main plate against the log twisted and the springs came off. Quicker and easier to split the wood by hand.

  • @Mordy68 I had one too, and the cheap spot welds broke in 1/2 an hour,,, returned it,,,they are made in china

  • A sledgehammer and a couple of wedge irons would be 10 times faster than this. The only hydraulic Log splitter worth using is one powered from a tractor pto.

  • i guess this is for place that they dont have electricity danm that fucking manual hydraulic hahahha

  • "Don't sweat the tough, frustrating work with wood splitting"

You still are with that exercise machine

  • you show me a days work lol grow up!! haha been on a farm most of my life, welder in a steel mill cut timber for years its more like you cant even lick my boots when it comes to working old man. dont get pissed of at me you cant split wood like a man and you went out and got that TOY

  • That would be great...

If you were 70 years old, retired, had a lot of time on your hands, and only have need 8 pieces of wood a day.

  • thats a little toy for city people

  • thats funny city boys dont even now what work is come on out ill show you a day of work

  • wow i could chop 10 rounds of wood before you chop 1

  • Listen guys I have 3 cords of unsplit knotted oak and it is a BITCH to split. I'm buying one of these things right away. It may not split a the wood but it will get it started and that's all I need.

  • Wow I cant believe anybody would buy that, one would age 50 years before a 1/4 cord was split.

  • @Blownwillyscoupe I just built one for $10 using craigslist found materials and a mig welder. Its worth the money if your broke. I needed one this winter and used videos like this to guide my design. Making your own leaves you satisfied your not wasting money which you don't have to spend but still accomplishes the goal of splitting wood. Here in socal(I know not really winter weather) people give away lumber allllllll the time, especially stumps. Cheap splitter, free wood, thanks craigslist

  • device log spit is a lazy,,,

let human can do it cut a log from ax

  • It splits bigger pieces than they are showing in the video. If you were looking to heat your house with a woodstove this is not the thing to use. It just takes too long to split enough wood for that. But, for me on a Sunday watching football I can split just what I need in about 30 mins before any of the games start. Using an Axe or wedge or one of those mauls. Well you just go ahead and do that. This little sucker does the trick and I am happy with it.

  • @stoveman

good excercise for you, not as dangerous as footbal

  • pick up a maul.

any log small enough to fit in that thing doesn't need split.

    fularious!

  • these things suck ive used them no they wont do oak and we arent lazy we work smart

  • You guys can talk shit all day. But five months ago when I was splitting our three cords for the winter with a fifteen pound maul and getting sawdust and sweat in the eight calluses I ripped off, I would've loved this little fucker. I just wonder if the hydraulics could handle knotty black oak. This is way more manly to use than a gas or electric powered one, at least you have to use your fucking arms. Senior citizens are probably having a damn field day with this shit~

  • made in china

  • The guy that tought OJ how to put on gloves must have shown this guy how to swing an axe.

  • i use my penis to split this kind of wood

  • lol

  • Thats Crazzzy.

  • sorry.......but this is A JOKE ---RIGHT? He's breaking a sweat pulling that lever soo much....Ha!

  • don't use a axe use a axe maul.... with that splitter you will do a face cord in a month.

  • Lazy Americans.

  • Comment removed

  • haha I think a fire burns more wood an hour than you can cut with this thing per hour

  • Too much time involved with splitting one piece of wood! This thing is tiring to watch.

  • he wasent even using a maul what the heck

  • I use a sword...

  • thats a gay log spliter

  • 1 maul swing... 470 pumps... hmmm

  • lol

  • Terribly slow. One swing with a maul would bust that piece of wood easily.

Who splits wood with an axe?

All of these electric and hand done splitters are worthless compared to spending 10 minutes to learn to swing a maul, and they wouldn't have enough power to split the really nasty hickory logs, anyway.

I can imagine a homeowner getting a hickory log partly split and then hung up on the wedge.

  • And in addition if you stand it on end you can jack up your car, Bravo!!!

  • I have one it started leaking and don't work now.But when i frist got man oh man it would split anything i put in it.But it is slow and works me too hard you have release the cyclinder and mine would handup and i had to bump it with a big log to move it back.Electric is what i got now very please with it.

  • Home owner junk!

That video is so weak and gimmicky!

  • I'd rather split it with a maul then with this damn thing, a motorized one is a different story

  • i Would also pass on this one would take for ever true never use a Axe to split Fire Wood use a Maul

  • yeah like wtf? common, use your common sense

  • I think it would be good for someone older who couldnt get out and split wood... but personally I am going to pass on this one.

Plus I dont know why he was using an axe (made to cut not split) to try and split wood instead of a Maul (made to split not cut)

  • ..Rkamlage...

I agree that it seems tedious and slow. I'm thinking it might be the feed on the video. Anyway, I'm sure it's worth it's weight in gold when one of those moist or twisted grained logs pops up. Gee, what if you had a whole load of twisted wood and NOT have this tedious thing? hmmm? Get my point? LOLOL

  • dont seem worth it to me
