This song was originally written as a haunting farewell to someone who may never return....I think this couple do an excellent job of capturing that mood in the slow part. The song then picks up to the march beat, such as a soldier marching away would be doing. I love all versions of this song, but I think these artists capture the original mood. Just my opinion....
It is ironic that this song was supposedly written to honor bulgarian slavic women whose husbands were going to war against the Ottoman Empire. However, especially in the Balkans, including Bulgaria, Bosnia, Macedonia, Serbia etc., millions of slavic people had converted to Islam and were on the Ottoman side. So, these bulgarians, who originally belonged to a Turkic tribe from Volga, were fighting against a population that included Slavs.
@turcoboshnak and how does a turk no what slavs look like? im polish and i can tell you the guy looks quite slavic.. the woman is kurdish but even she resembles many slavs like Екатерина Стриженова.. just a more middle eastern version
The problem of these Turks is that they love to pretend they know something but they don't, they always put their foot into their mouth and got into trouble no matter where they go.
Dmitry Pevtsov, Russian actor and singer, is a Russian slavic. His mother side may have some distant Jewish root.
Zara, Russian actress and one of the top Russian pop singers, born in Otradnoe of Leninggrad region, she is from a family of ethnic Yezidi Kurds.
@sangreafrolatino I am Bosnian origin and If you want to see real Slavs go to Bosnia. It is very hard to see real slavs in Russia where 100 ethnic groups mixed for thousands of years., especially with the Turkic people's like Tatars, Kumans etc. I repeat that these two look more like Kurdish, Kavkaz people then genuine slavs.
@turcoboshnak No, thanks! No real Slav would betray his faith and offer his ass for Turcs to fuck. Yeas, many ppls joined to Slav to become Russians but this mixture is what I'm proud of. And no treachery like Bosnian or Croatian affected the honor of my nation.
@tagaphon Bosnians were never ruled by the Turks. They were a completely independent province of the empire. They actually held the highest positions in the empire and were assigned as rulers to the different provinces in southeastern europe. Unlike the Turkic Tatars who controlled most of Russia for 200 years, converted many russians to Islam (using your language) and really f&^%cked the russian people. I still find it strange for a kurdish woman singing a slavic woman's song.
@turcoboshnak Let me translate what you said: Bosnians were even worse than Turcs and that's why they let them rule themselves. But Bosnians were fucked really . Look at yourself and at any Turk. Any difference? As for Tartars you completely wrong. Not Russians became Moslems like Bosnian and Croatian traitors, but Tartars became Orthodox Christians. The remaining Tartars are Moslems, that's right. But they aren't Russians either.
@tagaphon So, I guess in your opinion in addition to Croats and Bosnians, all non-Orthodox Slavs are also traitors: Poles, Czechs, Slovaks, Slovenes, Ukrainians etc. What a sick way of thinking! I think these nations were less mixed than Russians and have more pure slavic blood. So, as a russian, you can be proud of being a mixture of 100 nationalities but let slavic pride to real slavic people. Also, how do you think blonde Tartars came to existence?
@turcoboshnak Poles, Czechs, Slovaks, Slovenes wereCatholics from beginning . Ucrainians were and remain Ortodox. They didn't sell their faith for money. And if you are not proud to be mixture of 100 nationalities, than cry, because ALL Slav nations are mixture. But in the case of Russians this mixture is somewhat I can be proud of, in your case the best thing would be to try to make your nation famous for good things.
@turcoboshnak Boshniaks kept a lot of Slavic blood(so to speak)because they didn't mix much with the Turks, but between themselves because they converted to Islam in vast numbers. a Russian is nothing less a Slav than a Boshniak. Actually, Russians, and Belarussians are one of the purest Slavs.
But you can't say that for sure because you can't count every drop of blood and determine is it Slavic, Turkic, Germanic etc. What makes us Slavs is our culture, and there Boshniaks are the least of Slavs.
@asdfasqwert You did a blood test for examination of DNA Russians and Belarussians?
Nonsense in the conclusions! Slavs - this is a multiethnic nation, long time ago! It all started with the Mongol-Tatar. Say who is more or less - it is impossible!
@olimpic14 No, I didn't. But it is natural that Russians and Belarussians were almost untouched by the Mongols( except in south Russia and Ukraine) because they only paid homage to the Khan, while his people were stationed southwards. I said you can't count blood drops, but you can say, in general, who's who. I know some people who are Slavs but have Turkic-like eyes. In the end it's all about how you feel about what you are, but you must know your heritage and where you come from.
Farewell of Slavianka ( Proshchanye Slavyanki) is a Russian patriotic march, written by the composer Vasily Agapkin in honour of the Bulgarian women bidding farewell to their husbands who left for the First Balkan War. The march premiered in Tambov in 1912 and was subsequently released as a single. Slavyanka means "Slavic woman".
Just one little correction: Composer Vasily Agapkina this march written 1912th was inspired by the First Balkan War, and the uprising of the Bulgarians, Serbs, Montenegrins and Greeks against the Turks. Marsh does not contain motifs of Slovenian folk songs from the Balkans, but in Russia experienced enormous popularity.
amazing words.. i remember i watch a Russian movie and that song Farewell Slavianka was playing while the russian solders fighting very hard for founding the USSR.

mailos06 6 months ago

So, these bulgarians, who originally belonged to a Turkic tribe from Volga, were fighting against a population that included Slavs.
turcoboshnak 8 months ago
It is interesting that neither of the singers look slavic.
turcoboshnak 8 months ago 2
@turcoboshnak and how does a turk no what slavs look like? im polish and i can tell you the guy looks quite slavic.. the woman is kurdish but even she resembles many slavs like Екатерина Стриженова.. just a more middle eastern version
sangreafrolatino 4 months ago
@sangreafrolatino Well said!
The problem of these Turks is that they love to pretend they know something but they don't, they always put their foot into their mouth and got into trouble no matter where they go.
Dmitry Pevtsov, Russian actor and singer, is a Russian slavic. His mother side may have some distant Jewish root.
Zara, Russian actress and one of the top Russian pop singers, born in Otradnoe of Leninggrad region, she is from a family of ethnic Yezidi Kurds.
win081 4 months ago
@sangreafrolatino I am Bosnian origin and If you want to see real Slavs go to Bosnia. It is very hard to see real slavs in Russia where 100 ethnic groups mixed for thousands of years., especially with the Turkic people's like Tatars, Kumans etc. I repeat that these two look more like Kurdish, Kavkaz people then genuine slavs.
turcoboshnak 4 months ago
@turcoboshnak No, thanks! No real Slav would betray his faith and offer his ass for Turcs to fuck. Yeas, many ppls joined to Slav to become Russians but this mixture is what I'm proud of. And no treachery like Bosnian or Croatian affected the honor of my nation.
tagaphon 4 months ago
@tagaphon Bosnians were never ruled by the Turks. They were a completely independent province of the empire. They actually held the highest positions in the empire and were assigned as rulers to the different provinces in southeastern europe. Unlike the Turkic Tatars who controlled most of Russia for 200 years, converted many russians to Islam (using your language) and really f&^%cked the russian people. I still find it strange for a kurdish woman singing a slavic woman's song.
turcoboshnak 4 months ago
@turcoboshnak Let me translate what you said: Bosnians were even worse than Turcs and that's why they let them rule themselves. But Bosnians were fucked really . Look at yourself and at any Turk. Any difference? As for Tartars you completely wrong. Not Russians became Moslems like Bosnian and Croatian traitors, but Tartars became Orthodox Christians. The remaining Tartars are Moslems, that's right. But they aren't Russians either.
tagaphon 4 months ago
@tagaphon So, I guess in your opinion in addition to Croats and Bosnians, all non-Orthodox Slavs are also traitors: Poles, Czechs, Slovaks, Slovenes, Ukrainians etc. What a sick way of thinking! I think these nations were less mixed than Russians and have more pure slavic blood. So, as a russian, you can be proud of being a mixture of 100 nationalities but let slavic pride to real slavic people. Also, how do you think blonde Tartars came to existence?
turcoboshnak 4 months ago
@turcoboshnak Poles, Czechs, Slovaks, Slovenes wereCatholics from beginning . Ucrainians were and remain Ortodox. They didn't sell their faith for money. And if you are not proud to be mixture of 100 nationalities, than cry, because ALL Slav nations are mixture. But in the case of Russians this mixture is somewhat I can be proud of, in your case the best thing would be to try to make your nation famous for good things.
tagaphon 4 months ago
@turcoboshnak Boshniaks kept a lot of Slavic blood(so to speak)because they didn't mix much with the Turks, but between themselves because they converted to Islam in vast numbers. a Russian is nothing less a Slav than a Boshniak. Actually, Russians, and Belarussians are one of the purest Slavs.
But you can't say that for sure because you can't count every drop of blood and determine is it Slavic, Turkic, Germanic etc. What makes us Slavs is our culture, and there Boshniaks are the least of Slavs.
asdfasqwert 3 months ago
@asdfasqwert You did a blood test for examination of DNA Russians and Belarussians?
Nonsense in the conclusions! Slavs - this is a multiethnic nation, long time ago! It all started with the Mongol-Tatar. Say who is more or less - it is impossible!
olimpic14 3 months ago

Lord123881 9 months ago
@Lord123881
