  • The image is also beautifull.

  • Oh, he's so good..

  • pure genius

  • On a France road, on the Atlantic Ocean, it is early in the morning, the rain has to stop, the sky is grey.

But suddenly the Sun appears on the horizon, the ocean light illuminates the clouds and the voice of David Sylvian rises.

Let the happiness in! Let the happiness in!

    Unique, unforgettable time.

The voice of David Sylvian, beauty, happiness, emotion...

The sky opens and the light becomes unreal

The artist sings and carries my soul. Thank you David.

  • All songs exist in Heaven

The artist is one who makes

    the heroic journey & brings

    one back

  • @sleepingenius perhaps

there is something about it that feels

    inevitable, like you + me

  • This song is impossible..... That Sylvian could achieve it beginning with a simple two chord melody beggars belief. It's like a Talisman though alive...the promise fulfilled by a singular artist who, upon turning his back on fame & fortune and declaring his "preparations for a journey" kept his promise to himself and his audience in many ways of which this is the quintessence

  • i love the man's voice, his lyrics and his artistic integrity

  • I like,very nice.

  • I Love this song but the Shhhh sound really annoys a little especilly when he says "ships". Just have to try and ignore it.

  • olly murs is a faggot.

    Adverts are worse

  • i treasure this great artist.

  • thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiissssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss. :|

  • Where has he BEEN? Why can I have loved Bowie and Eno and Richman and MJ Cole and Arthur Russell and Penguin Café Orchestra &ct, and never have run accross Sylvian?! I don't understand why fate winds its way so unjustly, but cant can't a lover just love the loveliness?

  • @bathotic There is so much more to explore. That's great!

  • My aunt dedicated this song to me and I like it a lot and I love my aunt :)

  • Mick may rest in Peace.

  • he's timeless...

  • Cheer up Mr Batt !!

    RIP Mick !! :(

  • Thank you so much for this post... lovely, incredible song, and never more applicable than now, Theresa x

  • This song is a monument...I listen to it from the time it just came out...

  • Perfect. The brass lends itself to a cold harbor or some kind of story from decades gone by.

  • he reaches out and puts you right in the emotions; we've all got to crawl towards carrying on

  • this song is a miracle.

Let the happiness in! Let the happiness in!

    Moment unique, inoubliable.

La voix de David Sylvian, la beauté , le bonheur, l'émotion......

Le ciel s'ouvre et la lumière devient irréelle

L'Artiste chante et transporte mon âme. Merci David.

  • bella sta trombetta. Mark Isham?

  • @mannaggiacaz Si ! Mark Isham... :-)

  • Brilliant !! Love U David!!

  • Understated art in music and kyrics

  • astonishing art.

  • not just the track, but the comments that it has inspired are equally as moving and breathtaking. beautiful words here and from the like minded souls that take the time to listen, and let the happiness in....

  • It is a silent night, a night to remember the times, young , full of hopes, and when times would get harder, then Sylvian would ease the sufferance a silent night, only the wind, the music, me...it was more than 20 years ago.Sometimes like today I open the door and listen to him, like a candy, a special candy...

  • Yeah this song is a masterpiece.

  • Cold December sun

I was Cold in the Sun

    I was an Old Son.

  • This has to be one of the most complete and beautiful songs every recorded. Everyone concerned did a remarkable job. So uplifting. Good old Sylvian.

  • I am so happy to watch these, and to read everyone's comments, and share all of this with all of these people all over the world. Down the right side of the page, I see all of these songs that have inspired me over the world. September, that I've sung a million times on crunchy fall grass, Blackwater, that has carried me across frail oceans and streams, and other songs I can't wait to discover. In smalltown Canada, loving David Sylvian was sometimes lonely. Now, it's not. Love to everyone.

  • we are one and the same, all

  • I remember my girlfriend in college made a tape for her brother who was institutionalized with childhood psychosis. and it was some time later that she had the chance to talk with him. He had been nearly catatonic for years from anti-psychotic medications which seemed to be more for the benefit of the doctors & caretakers than the tortured soul. Yet he reached out to her and said "the song you sent has haunted me ever since..." she asked "is that OK" and he said "Yes"

  • @atrios28

That is very moving as someone who exists on both sides as both caretaker and tortured soul...

  • @racheljane1976 only wounded physicians heal

  • The man is a master of directing movies for the mind with a song ! incredible ! the value of poetry in a mind in motion ! a true craftsman at the top of his skill !

  • amazing track. a beautiful piece of expression.

  • Yes, a dark night indeed.

  • this is a darck night for me, the world is in the home and dreaming's

  • amazing David Sylvian...I spent 2 years trying to get this album..the man is a Genius!

  • Secrets of the Beehive is an undoubted masterpiece. I think I recognised its importance 2 me pretty much from 1st listen. It takes you 2 a place of beautiful melancholy and u don't ever really want to leave. It's really v. difficult 2 pick a favourite song being spoilt 4 choice but has he ever written anything more beautiful than On the waterfront? Not many people have or ever will. I feel that Sakamoto contributed greatly 2 this LP's brilliance and doesn't get the credit he deserves 4 it.

  • @MisAnnThorpe I am so with you on that... on all accounts. On The Waterfront, my favourite song (if I had to choose one). I saw him play it live a few years ago. To say the hairs on the back of my neck stood up is a total understatement... I love that so many people have left so many great comments on all of his songs on youtube .... just goes to show the kind of souls that like his music i guess. :-)

  • J'adore.... un de mes morceaux favoris quand je suis en mode déprime....

  • a miracle song

  • The greatest song ever {m} Evets

  • I fucked up! I know i did and i'm sorry!

  • That's ok, I fucked up too and i'm sorry. i miss you.

  • Fibbonaci!

  • This album rolled in to my life the year I graduated high school. Next year I flew to NY to see the show w/Mark Isham

  • Jealous. I love Mark Isham.

  • hope blister version of this even more intense ... and without the percussion !

  • This one, for me, stands among the deepest and most moving pieces that Sylvian has created. In my humble opinion - a truly profound work. Bravo David!

  • i love everything this man does!! wicked! :)

  • I love this man--pure and terrifying melancholy and gratitude and the commitment to being better. Namaste--I honour the God in You.

  • this song gets under my skin.stunner.

  • superhula1 is a mean mean human bean

  • more than God or Jesus have ever given to me - thank You David

  • deep tune ... peace at last ?!

  • Thank you David, for giving me peace.

  • This is a great song...

  • Never liked this song.

  • Great track from an album that is certainly in my top-10, it is truely unique.

  • THANX FOR THAT TRACK !!! it belongs to the most delicious remembrances of the feelings of my depressions in teenage times and how to feel NOT THAT lonely by listening this :-)

  • great song!

  • Beautiful music.

  • I really connect with all of Sylvians songs. He has been the constant soundtrack of my life.

  • maybe you should let the happiness in

  • What makes you think I haven't?

  • you appear quite hostile . I always took it as a compliment if someone was to copy me , i may well be wrong about your disposition but you were harsh in your earlier comment

  • Hostile?

No, I am not hostile. Quite the opposite! I am a very loving person, and the only thing I hate is hate.

And there is a lot of hate on Youtube, such a shame...

  • Im glad to hear , i take my comments back and you are right , such a shame about the hate thing here -alongside some great channels . i guess we choose not to go down that road

  • Yes robson, I removed that comment. See my other comment so you understand what was going on. Again, I am sorry for having posted something so negative HERE, of all places.

  • Now I know the comment to which you were referring. This girl really put me through hell, she was hacking my Facebook and MySpace pages and doing a lot of weird stuff.

That comment did sound hostile, so i removed it. I meant it at the time, but I am not angry anymore.

There are just a lot of kooks on the internet, you have to admit that!

Sorry, I should never have posted something so negative at this beautiful video's thread.

    Forgive me!

  • Consider yourself forgiven . But please stop apologising - i only pulled you up because the comment was out of context with such a piece of art . Given the history, now i think you were a wee bit soft on the girl ;-) And i should have kept my tuppence worth to myself but,me being me ,i just cant help myself sometimes lol

  • For me it's Buckethead... but as a vocalist Sylvian is seriously becoming a competitor for my #1

  • My son loves Buckethead, and tried to get me into him, but...

As for Sylvian, he is really without peer.

    Good taste, SunshineBoy.

  • @silmalila you and I both...this is so so so much more than frequencies.

  • @silmalila That's funny, that's exactly how I describe it too..... He seems to have a song for every mood and emotion.... I've been listening to him for 25 years and I never tire of his music and lyrics.... quite the opposite in fact!.... How wonderful to have enriched so many peoples lives.

  • @hilmon1 His music is timeless, isn't it?

I always feel like he is in my head, that he understands my feelings and perfectly articulates them.

I see that I am not the only one...

Yes, after all these years I am still listening to him.

I have to admit, I was disappointed in Manafon, though.

    What are your thoughts?

    Be honest, now!

  • @silmalila Ha ha ... I know ... bummer! Snow Borne Sorrow, the Nine Horses album was very good though I thought. But yeah, he kinda lost me on Blemish too ... If I'm being honest :-) He has such as amazing and experimental body of work that its a wonder he hasn't made more "inaccessible" (my diplomatic moment of the day) albums. He just paints the most amazingly melancholy images in your head. And so much production goes into each track, I just never get tired of listening to him....

  • @silmalila" He has been the constant soundtrack of my life".I love it so is mine

  • Got the vynil.Hopefully my mo won't chip it as she already did with TIN DRUM

  • Beautiful. I love his word and his music. David Sylvian is one of my favourite artists. : )

  • So beautiful, the text I write will never be worthy.

  • this is true beauty.thank you very much.

  • yes, really interesting clip, thx for it! Can't say it is ultra funny sunny music to make parties in the sun (lol).. but it is extremely interesting ...! remembering me decidely a lot Mark Hollis work too (or later Talk Talk), without questions too; seems both artists/bands get the same sensibilities, it's for sure; results are beauty in that genre for sure at least. Music is diversity;so true. always fascinating to see (good) artists exploring their diverse roads: thx for the vid upload!

  • This is something between pop song and the classic song of 19.century!!!Absolutelly genius!!!!Awesome and beyond!!!!

  • 2:18: I'm longing for the agony to stop... Kind of like waking up from a dream at 4:45 am, the same time you used to wake up to with your lover at your side.

  • A most poetic commentary !

  • Thank you. That was an exquisite match with pictures, it goes straight to the heart .

  • Listen to his lyrics,he can paint pictures with words.

  • I will forever remember buying this single December 1987, and discovering a special world of light and dark that was within me, that no one would ever know about

  • Sylvian is a secret of the beehive and we are the rare blessed bees. millions will die ,never even hearing this genius

  • i fell deep, from his voice came word´s of and old song, from an old and strange shaman.

never miss you silvian, always at tha path.

tao for ever and ever... as an eternal and melancolical happiness in

  • This one got me through.

    The sound of brilliance.

  • gorgeous song.. perhaps one of my first experiences of listening to and appreciation tranquility.. this song had a profound effect on me

  • This is David's most beautiful song in my opinion. So beautiful Just amazing.

  • that could be true.

  • all of his songs are beautiful beyond belief... its just... astounding... he is a brilliant artist...

  • @asdffd i agree !!

  • The sound of dreams!

  • Adore this excellent song by David and sums up my idea of "paradise" :-)
