When I first heard it I thought he got it backwards from what real car mirrors say; maybe he was drug addled or it just sounded better. Now I think, "They used to play this when I worked at Radio Shack and was just starting engineering school. Goodness, that couldn't have been 18 years ago!?"

Its more about the fact that special people, important places, and strong experiences of the past are never as far away as they seem because our memories keep them close to our heart throughout our entire lives... This song never fails to bring tears to my eyes because I can relate each verse to a person in my own past...
