Start at your local Library or bookstore - lots of great books on beginning filmmaking. I've built my own reference library from Amazon. Read, study, do and get critiques.

A point of interest. We shot the scene with Nathan the first day. It didn't work out with the woman who played the Mom. So we shot it again 3 days later with a new Mom, who is in the film now. However, Nathan was not available that day, so we shot without him, and then cut the two shooting days together. Nathan and Kimberly Durrett (the new Mom) were never in the room at the same time, in fact they didn't even meet until the Premiere which was a month later, at the 168 hour Film Festival.
