  • Hi, I'm thinking about taking this course at SAIC, but I don't know what the main difference is between this class, and the neon techinques class, should I take neon techniques first? Thanks!

  • @chechita85 In Neon Techniques you learn how to bend glass tubes. In Neon Animation, it's more about learning how to program any lights, not just neon, to "animate" (blink on and off in a series). I took the animation class first just because techniques wasn't offered at the time but most people take techniques first. Techniques is a LOT more challenging and takes a lot of practice to learn how to heat the glass right, but it is still a lot of fun, and I would definitely take that first.

  • @fyshy thanks so much for answering so quikly. They both sound highly interesting. Techniques is already closed though this semester, so i'll probably end up taking neon animation first. Thanks for the insight into the courses, it's been very helpful. I wish I could do them the other way around as you say.
