I've been listening to monk chanting music for about ten years, friends will come over and laugh at the fact that I'm listening to it. What complete tool bags, watch everyone who thought I was gay for listening to this fall into the trend. I hope this doesn't fall into the main stream pop industry because everything that does becomes commercialized and over produced.

I have always been interested in different music but Gregorian chants have always pulled my heart strings. I think this music is of heaven and thank you all so much for keeping this ancient tradition alive. I just love the different note progressions. What scale are the chants sung in?

@Wakers222 i have to agree with you. I am devoted only to traditional Catholicism because is the essence of my faith. I belive that our society is sick and only a revival of traditionalism would guides us to light. Not civil rights to gay people and opression to family and faith.

I can't speak for anyone but myself, but this music uplifts me, deepens my prayer, and transports me in spirit. I don't get that from much of the new church music that is supposed to appeal to modern people. If they want to go to a rock concert, there is a time and place for that. I think people of all ages can feel devotion to the Divine with this music if they give it a try.

Gregorian chant was one of my favorite music since when I was young. Such language though couldn't be understand by lay person simply touches the inner aspect of someone who hears it. It give calmness to someone who are disturbed emotionally and mentally. Such music is a cure of the soul which gives comfort in yearning to GOD.

Cistersians are a special bunch - In Collon Ireland there are a small group of mainly elderly men and it is a special place to go and pray....Their chants are magical and very refreshing in this crazy world that we now live in..........

I agree Inde... The song is twice prayer. And I was taught gregorian in St. Christophers...we knew the meanings too...understood what we sang. I was but a kid...yet I sang the whole Mass in Latin...and was a part.

Brings back such lovely memories for me. I was there last year for the Pope's visit to Heiligenkreuz. I hope the monks say a daily prayer for the soul of Mary Vetsera who is buried in the cemetary at Heiligenkreuz. She died by the hand of Crown Prince Rudolf at Mayerling. Pray for both of their souls.
