i took this bike out for a test ride, and a triumph sprint 1050 st,and this bike lost in all counts.the triumph 1050 st blow it away in the real world.plus i saved over £3000. it's just not right, sound's shit, triumph 1050 st sounds great..
OMG that is ugly from the front ... it doesn't have saddle bags ??? ... I thought it was supposed to be the V5 from motogp? This really feels like a paid honda advertisement / spokesman here
I love Honda, been riding one since 1973 but I think Honda missed the mark on styling and I sure don't care for the dual clutch paddle shift set up. No clutch lever and no shifter pedal would take a lot of getting used to. They packed a lot of new technology in this bike that experienced riders might find awkward. I know I would.
Shaft drive, heavy, too many electronics, and not to mention UGLY. As an owner of many previous generation VFRs, I can say undoubtedly that the RC30 and RC45 are turning over in their graves.
@racernate02 LOL smart money would've been to make this engine a 1000 and then spin off a chained RC version (worthy 30, 45, & 51 successor) and a shafted VFR tourer. guess they got caught up with the 1.2L for longterm marketing purposes. like the technology, but honda does seem a bit disconnected from their own history.
I have a beautiful 1998 silver vfr 800. Like the look of the vfr1200 but far too expensive for me sadly. Can't believe the chap who says can't have a vfr without vtec....omg vtec is what made the 2002 vfr inferior to my vfr 800fi. The power curve is nothing like a smooth and all for no reason and no benefit.
@fuzzydragon I had a V65 Magna(my first bike!) in college. It was fantastic! Simple, powerful, and reliable.. I hope Honda makes a standard like that in the near future, or I may consider the Ducati Streetfighter.

damn, they ruined the bike: the style, the power... i love the VFR800, in any day. the style is awesome, the sound of exausht, the power... If honda wants to please the customers they have to do more than that, especially they have to put VTEC, VFR without Vtec is like having a Ferrari and then trade for a Benz. Honda disapointed me at all:(
@blackadder183 I have a 1998 vfr 800 fi. New vfr 1200 looks nice but so expensive. VFR with VTEC is pants and is what made 2002 vfr inferior. No advantage and ruined the power curve .
What a terrible review... or... was there even a review in there at all? Just sounds like Honda marketing spin to me. And no real opinions offered at all.
I agree that this bike is as ugly as hell. I loved the look of the VFR800. If they're going to label it a Sport-Touring, have it outfitted with standard hard bags. I'd pick the Concourse 1400 over this, any day.
Yeah, the VFR800 is a great-looking bike, but the VFR1200F isn't in the same class. I like that it looks like a BMW. I think it'll be very popular with the older crowd, who want to do some touring but don't want a Goldwing or a Harley.
I like it, and I think it's a fantastic idea, Although this video, that amounts to nothing more than a commercial, is kinda pointless. Can't wait for a good, honest critiquing of the bike.
It really threw me off the first time I saw it but after a while the design isn't _that_ bad. There's something about it. It's the head light area that seems off. The rest is very nicely detailed. It's a lot like the BMW K. I wish they'd use a V4 in a smaller capacity.
haha so true, i think they only mentioned once that the thing weighs as much as an orca whale...and even looks like one? not so sure. btw, like your username! "ZZR", do you own one?
lol... yeah, me and my wife had one ...(this is her youtube account, It throws some folks off when I post comments) she's now a 675girl if you want to get specific...

The look of it is quite bland. Needs more vents or fins like Kawa. The way it looks now it could be mistaken for a scooter.

The video images were okay. the first part, history, was too long.

I agree.
I wish they would have gone the direction of the RC30.
More like the racing V4 Aprilia made, only with a single sided swingarm and colors of the original RC30

more companies need a "better" sport touring bike.
They all tend to be heavy and can't really flick around much.
I say make a 400lb sportbike with an ergonomic of this VFR bike.

Strange how japan is really falling behind on the styling and design end of things.
I will stick with my KTM.
Even in Japan, I saw more Italian, German, and American bikes on the road than the jap bikes. Although the TW225 hill climber was popular in Tokyo.
